Ya, good point. The Hip is bigger and sturdier and can take more punishment, but if you can't avoid getting into the turning fight it's gonna be tough. Not impossible though.

If the Huey and Mi-8 were using forward guns only pretty fair. The AI gunners on the Huey's are snipers though so they throw a kink in the fairness. On the other hand the Hip is supposed to get door gunners too, so maybe then it will be fair. But what skill is there in letting each others door gunners murder you.

They could always pull a 'You need to pay for the new rendering engine and these modules/maps require the new rendering engine'. They could also give it to us free and make us pay for the maps and modules. Or we could have to buy everything over again. Or WWIII could start. We just don't know.

It sounded like they had some more fixing than they thought they would to do after submitting it to ED for testing. They also decided to redo the damage model or something which I'm sure isn't a 50 minute task. I think they're going to need some time...

We're only on 1.2.8. If the Sabre and Dora are going to be released on 1.2.9 then 1.2.9 is next. You can't say the next version is 2.0 until 1.2.9 is out :-P

The one that comes out first. Would like to see something, anything, new in DCS. It's been awhile. April 4th for 1.2.8 which had some nice things, and last module was Mi-8 on Sept 4th or so? We're promised a lot coming down the pipe... EDGE, Hawk, MiG-21, F-86F, Dora, others. Someone take my money already.

Surprised no one mentioned the accident that killed one of the first female Tomcat pilots. The 0.4 second delay it took for her to eject after the RIO was ejected was enough to kill her as the plane became inverted in that amount of time: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kara_Hultgreen After aborting the approach, Hultgreen selected full afterburner on the remaining engine, causing an even greater asymmetry. This, combined with a high angle of attack, caused an unrecoverable approach turn stall and rapid wing drop to the left. The radar intercept officer (RIO) in the rear seat, Lieutenant Matthew Klemish, initiated ejection for himself and Hultgreen as soon as it was apparent that the aircraft was becoming uncontrollable. First in the automated ejection sequence, the RIO survived. However, by the time Hultgreen's seat fired 0.4 seconds later, the plane had rolled past the horizontal and she was ejected downward into the water. She was killed instantly. The entire event unfolded in less than 20 seconds.

Ya, that is worded terribly in the original post. I originally thought, as he did, that 'others' would be $20 each, until disputes and ultimately clarification was provided yesterday. Perhaps that can be clarified if it hasn't been already to reduce confusion.

This is cool. I just wanted my alpha access to the 262 more than anything. Heck, I would have paid for it. But this will make things even better for me, and others I'm sure. :)

Where do you get that out of the announcement? "For example: each aircraft will retail at $49.99; however, you will receive the item instead at only $20.00. This is in addition to other items such as the Normandy map ($20 contribution and above) and other perks as the backing contribution level rises."

Offer a buy up for additional Alpha access? :) If the aircraft are going to be $20 for us at release charge $30 or whatever you deem fair for Alpha access and I'd throw more dollars at you. I'm only missing alpha on one and would love to get in on that as well. Others may feel the same. Don't know if it would be hard to orchestrate, but could raise some additional money from backers.

I guess I don't think this is too terrible, but then I was at $110 and looks like I will have Alpha access to everything but the 262 which I will have to pay $20 to get. I will say I will happily buy it when released and if there is a way to buy into the alpha, even if it's for more than $20 I'd likely pay for that too. I don't know if there are others that would do the same, but maybe something to consider to raise more funds from backers (and maybe others too?) if orchestrating it won't be a nightmare...

You could use fraps - downside is its not free. Regardless of which way you record you can use handbrake, which is free, to convert to mp4 which should drastically reduce the size.

Su-34. I mean the thing has 12 hardpoints and can carry over 26,000 lbs. of ordinance. The thing has a toilet and galley. They were like lets add everything AND the kitchen sink. And with everything you need to never come down it also looks decent.

Part of the disaster is that people were speculating on exactly what half the rewards entitled us to even when the kickstarter was running. There were unending requests for Ilya to clarify even then and he saw no need to do that. This is my selection. What this basically says to me is that I should get each aircraft as it becomes available, since I have no faith whatsoever in seeing anything in an Alpha or Beta state any more. I got a P-51D key already. I'm a little unclear as to whether I should get a second since I have DCS WWII: P-51D and DCS WORLD: P-51. Same for the FW.190. But I'd easily let go of debating seconds if I could just get my aircraft as they're released (or even sooner per the alpha access...). I just want to be able to fly the released aircraft without waiting until mid next year after it's all out. That's about as opposite of Alpha access as you could not hope for.

No one has said anything about developing one as far as I know, but I would love to see a late model like the P-38L more than almost any other WWII aircraft.
