Helicopters fly relatively low (including nap-of-the-earth flight). Roads make a good and easy alternative for navigation...

So I figured this out: DCS Uh-1H Huey is the best and most realistic helicopter sim ever made. Unlike many other non-DCS software developers, you have met and exceeded our expectations! Also thank you for the Dutch KLU skin :) And this is just beta... :):)

Chapter 9 in the manual explains all roll/nick/yaw tendencies. This is how a helicopter flies. Every change on one axis affects the other three...

I can't get past the remarks for some reason. Also it seems that the check-in line is broken. So it's not plug and play as I hoped it would be. I'll be working on it, but with little time and the need to master the Huey it will take some time...

Will get it sorted if possible. Remember that you can't do anything with coordinates...

After a lot of testing, having experienced the same as you, I am now able to achieve somewhat of a hover. Try the following user curve on your axis tune panel for cyclic: 0 2 5 10 18 28 42 57 71 86 100 This works better than any of the standard curvatures. This curve isn't really exponential, it basiscly consists of two linear parts with a smooth transition between them. Try it out and see if it works for you!

I was able to do almost anything after two hours in the KA-50. So I had a good reason to overrate my abilities. Man this is difficult :helpsmilie: I can't even hover properly. I use the trim settings from the instruction video's but the nose seems to dive into the ground on these settings. Think it's time for some pedals too. Twist handle is good enough for the KA-50 but it looks like a mess when flying the Huey. This is going to be a longer learning curve than I expected :music_whistling::)

Hey, I'm going through the manual right now and I've got a question for those already flying: How is the pilot going to aim rockets (and gun's) in stow mode? I assume it's the pilot and not the gunner who is in charge of rockets right? Or is control handed over to the gunner for rocket firing (in reality)? And the main question is: Will the XM60E1 Infinity Sight be implemented?

Good post. :). I apply some of these tactics in the KA-50 already. I have a one-minute hover rule and I shoot vikhr's, guns and rockets in forward flight if the situation allows. I've seen too many KA-50 pilots go down because they act like a static object, even ignoring laser warnings and muzzle flashes...

Although I've never met Jim nor did I ever talk to him on the forums, I am deeply saddened by this news. Rest in Peace Jim.

And you were red? The only condition required to make JTAC work is a western (NATO) unit. Red or blue is a matter of the mission designer's taste, although it makes more sense to use red for a USSR coalition. Glad you got it working!

Before you try again. Make sure the JTAC mod is the last one you've installed. Your auto-updater could have overwritten files after the latest update. Read+understand the manual. Is it only the JTAC option that does not appear? Are you sure there is active JTAC in the mission at the moment you open the menu? @asparagin Looks like it worked, thank you!:smilewink:
