  1. Theres your error... :) As far as Ive experienced it it doesnt matter if youre going left or right as long as you DO SOMETHING. Drop the collective, nose down and constantly dispense flares. This does nothing if youre attacked by a radar guided missile, but the vast majority of threats for a BS uses heat-seeking missiles. Now if you have gained some speed, lost some altitude you can start to maneuver while continuing to fly out of the engangement range of the attacker. Try to imagine how the bad guy sees you and put some firm earth between you and him. If thats impossible, at least maneuver left and right (useful for AAA too), so that youre not as easy a target. And you hopefully wont need any of this, if you have planned your approach to the target area carefully and flown according to the possible threats (->Mission Briefing, for AAA and Manpads just fly high enough, for Radar SAMs you should stick to the terrain). And, last but not least, always keep some speed. If something happens you may need it to get out of trouble quickly.
  2. Just curious, what are those Catia drawings youre talking about? Great progress, one of the coolest helicopters ever built.
  3. On a FFB stick you can feel the stick getting stiffer (as weird as this sounds) and it starts to shake a tiny bit as you approach stall. For non-FFB sticks you have to watch the aircraft pretty closely for vibrations.
  4. This is false advice. Make SURE, your stick is back when you're taxiing, so that you can control your tailwheel with the rudder. For tight turns, put it forward and use your brakes.
  5. I should probably have written that Im up for it... Sorry for that. I was on Echo's server instead, you shouldnt believe him when he says hes rusty... :)
  7. Think outside the box. You dont have to use that crazy 180° alpha maneuver every time just because you have TV. What happens in the Video posted is just for show-offs, while the real use of it might be less obvious. Think about the situations, where youre on the bandits tail, but the aerodynamic limitations of your plane just dont allow you to get that angle on him. Use that TV and that missile is surely going to cause him troubles. Or take for example defensive maneuvers that can be enhanced with TV in a way that makes it impossible for the opponent to follow you through them. Its not about the big maneuvers that will leave you standing around in the air if you dont get the kill, its about the small things TV can do to mess up your opponents day quickly.
  8. That modified nose of the KA-50 looks just bad.
  9. It depends on how stable your chopper is. If its just a Black Shark you can probably get away with just using stick twist.
  10. Kaktus29, I wont go into politics here, but a SAM launcher can very well be used offensively if its range goes into the airspace of neighbour countries.
  11. What he says, fiddle around with the ABRIS settings, theres an option under UNITS where you can change all your units. This wont change the Instruments though, you'll have to take a look at the ABRIS if you want to know your speed in knots.
  12. They could let us take a spin if they dont need them anymore... ;)
  13. Did you shut down your engines prior to asking for repair?
  14. Thats good to hear! Glad youre not giving up on it just because it might not be your fault, but instead do your best to fix it!
  15. That is just plain wrong. Utilizing your stand-off range when the situation calls for it isnt bad in its own, but RELYING on it is. I see nothing wrong with high-speed attacks à la Hind, it gives the enemy less time to react if you get 2 or 3 missiles off and then give the remaining units a shower of rockets before breaking. Also you remain maneuverable instead of being a sitting duck. If you get shot at by AAA the shots will most likely miss, whereas if youre still in a hover by the time they zero in on youre dead meat. Of course high speed attacks have its cons too, like the possibility for ground units to fire at you, but that is a manageable risk if you break off soon enough. Also your automatic tracking system helps you keep your workload down, so you can see possible threats. Myself Im using moving attacks in most cases, but ressort to standoff hover attacks when the situation suggests that a moving attack would be inefficient (too many enemies for one pass or two; targets that would be useless to attack with rockets) or lead to a soon death. I suggest you read this and get comfortable with employing all possible tactics, so that you can decide which tactic is suited best for the situation youre in. EDIT: Also Autopilot Channels. At least 3 of them. At all time.
  16. Oups, didnt want to delete my post, just the attachment, since obviously the track is corrupted. Is this problem with the new patch?
  17. Did you press "O" a second time? This enables the automatic shval mode, where it wanders around.
  18. Good post, I started using it more often recently since I mapped the collective break to an easy to click button on the joystick. Works as advertised :)
  19. I think cross-section is better worded here. I dont think the word cross-section neccessarily means the cross-section of a single part, but the whole thing instead unless were talking about the cross-section of the engine intake or something similar. I think cross-section is probably what they intended to say.
  20. He might be talking about mavericks here, im not sure if the TGP was already in use at that time.
  21. Really well done!
  22. I'd love some extra fps for sure!
  23. If it just wasnt so incredibly clumsy to use... Id use it ;)
  24. So am I right when I guess its the Hind?
  25. The APU is there to start the helicopter, not to provide power. So the batteries power all your electronic stuff, but they cant deliver the power required to use, for example, your shkval. Once the generator produces enough electricity, everything is powered by the generator.
