  1. They're probably just going to trim the helo as slow as neccessary and then land :) FD isnt used in reality, the pilots are clicking the trim button pretty often.
  2. In all fairness, the CBU is a rather hardware-hungry weapon by nature. Regardless of how much you optimize it theres going to be hundreds of bomblets that suddenly spawn and have to be calculated individually. And I dont see that getting better until DCS decides to use some more CPU cores.
  3. From what I recall the manual said that the max rolling landing speed is around 40km/h. The shaking will occur because the nosewheel is free-spinning and can't be controlled like the A-10's.
  4. The problem isnt the hard turns, just the amount of collective you give during the maneuver. You dont want to give full collective due to the AC gen's problem with low RPM but at the same time not unload the rotor system completely.
  5. The campaign is pretty darn interesting so far. Definitely going to buy it if it stays that way!
  6. It only jumps back if you select your weapons with the buttons in the DSMS page. This will create a new profile, which is CCIP by default.
  7. Thats a pretty odd response, a better comparison would be not being able to uninstall WINXP after you've purchased an update version to WIN7. That being said, you can uninstall BS1 after the activation thing for BS2 is done. Now that all the update/reinstall trouble is gone you should be able to do that without having to worry about reinstalling it once the next update comes out.
  8. If you can find a way to make your pedals both control a single axis it should work. I was flying with my Thrustmaster Ferrari 2in1 GT Pedals for some time, it worked out pretty nicely.
  9. I know what video you're talking about but couldn't find it. This here is similar, the clicks you can hear is the trimmer. Then again I'm not sure if the Mi-8 even has an autopilot channel system similar to the Ka-50. You might want to look out for Ka-50/52 or similar cockpit footage. EDIT: I think this video here is pretty much our only source in this discussion: . Is it just me or can we see a similar behaviour like our virtual Ka-50 around the 0:45 mark? To me it looks like he's pitching up a bit on his stick and after he clicks the trim the pitch increases like it is described here. The problem is that the other video, which shows the pilot and his stick too, starts at a later point, so i cant clarify this.
  10. The countdown on the hud is the cooldown period of the laser. After the ranging as well as the lasing during a missile launch it is advised to let it cool down to prevent damage from overheating.
  11. Thats what the Descent mode of the Autopilot is for ;)
  12. Shouldnt that be "below"?
  13. Did you check if it has the correct scale?
  14. Me too, when I first faced the "my weapon settings are gone" problem ;) Its annoying at first, but it seems like they made it as a possibility for the pilots to quickly set up the weapons with default parameters for a quick run-in, and now im ressorting to that pretty often in conjunction with Mastermode selector button.
  15. So, to kind of conclude this thread, can we say that Trimming is working fine, its just that we shouldnt do big changes in flight path and, if we do, trim twice?
  16. Get an used MS FFB2 off ebay and use it in conjunction with the throttle part of the X52 (at least thats what Im doing :))
  17. How fast are you? What you describe is what usually happens when your rotor blades collide mid-air. Im also pretty sure that the warning that goes off is the IAS warning, which is there to warn you when youre flying too fast. You shouldnt do any hectic maneuvering in the Ka-50, as aprupt changes of pitch/roll/collective will cause your rotors to intersect.
  18. While I was actually sceptical about any trim bumps, today I decided to give it a try myself, so I left my FFB stick on the shelf and just used my keyboard (and later my X-52) for some helicopter action. To ensure theres no manipulating input I set the Trim method to center. My track is attached to this post. So here are the observations of my keyboard flight: At first I didnt notice anything wrong, any weird autopilot behaviour or the "trim bump". But near the end of my flight I transitioned from a situation where I had the cyclic pulled back into one where the cyclic was pushed forward. After I established a level flight I pressed T to trim to the new attitude. Immediatly after the helicopter pitched down to -10 degrees without my input changing (as I saw on the Input Indicator Box). So I waited a second for the helicopter to stabilize and pressed it again. Similar behaviour, I was now at -20. I repeated this some more, all tries with the same result. When only doing slight adjustments I found the Trimmer to be reacting just perfect, it held my position where I wanted it to be, in turns as in pitch up and downs. So I decided to plug in my X-52 (which is what I flew my track with, since the previous observation took place near the end of the flight), to try if this was also true for joysticks, and, what I previously had not experienced, in changes in roll. The Result: Both YES. It is not obvious at first, everything is normal if you trim after small corrections. However if you are doing, for example, a left turn (45°), trim, and, after the flight attitude has stabilized, turn right (45°), again trim, you see the exact same "spring" effect. My conclusion: There seems to be a spring effect implemented in the simulation, effectively simulating the change of force on the pilots hand. For example, if the pilot goes from full cyclic back to half forward, the pilot would have to act against a significant counterforce, that suddenly released, would cause his hand to "overshoot", inputting mor e input than at first commanded. This is, while realistic for Non-FFB controllers, effectively a "double simulation" of the user's input on FFB controllers. Moreover the effect is not easily explainable for the Non-FFB joystick pilots, it just makes it harder to fly the aircraft. Thus it should be removed (unless someone here can explain, why this is all correct). tl;dr: Theres some spring effect simulated on the virtual cyclic that should not be there. Trimming.trk
  19. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=99241 This should work for you :)
  20. Last I heard russian pilots were trained to click it...
  21. Does anyone know why theres a radiation sticker on the part between the engines? Just curious :)
  22. That error message shouldnt do any harm, it just says youre already up to date. Im not familiar with the setup, but maybe you have to close the Visual C++ setup and it will continue with the DCS World Installation.
  23. Shouldnt it be possible to use CCIP if you manually set an elevation for the target?
