Well yeah, gee thanks for that. I am sure they never thought of asking ED for assistance.. Wow, this could have been fixed DAYS ago had you said something earlier!
-
HaHaHa Seriously? Exactly what Utopian, Glitter encrusted, Unicorn roaming reality are you living in? If that were true we wouldn't need DRM in the first place.. Or rules or laws or.... Yes, the loyal fans of ED certainly feel that way, but the hordes of pirates that simply want everything for nothing are not going to smile nicely and say "Wow that took a lot of work so I guess I better break out the credit card and stop my pirating"
-
Have you actually read any threads on this forum? The reasoning behind the choices of planes has been explained ad nauseaum... Folks can understand them or not, but the explanations have been quite clear...
-
Nearly 7 pages of this? The DRM has been explained repeatedly. DRM is NECESSARY because dishonest people do exist.. (And to say no one would want to pirate a DCS module is beyond rubbish.) Personally, I have purchased every module produced and have been here since before DCS World was DCS world and NEVER have I had an instance of running out of activations.. NEVER And I am not the only example of this.. Yes I agree that Starforce has a bad name, but that is NOT the DRM that is being used here and you have been told this repeatedly.. At this point nearly 7 pages in, if you don't believe what has been said or just refuse to let it go, then don't buy DCS and be on your way... If you think ED is going to stop protecting their investment because you don't like it, sorry to say.. Nope..

Well everyone that decides to beta test for DCS...

Trying to run DCS on a Mac that does not meet min specs
outlawal2 replied to marked0ne's topic in General Questions
Well I love pretty much all computers.. PCs, Macs, Amigas whatever... I have a whole stable full of all of them with all different versions of Windows, OSX and AMiga Oses... My museum in my basement is pretty comprehensive... But I also try to be realistic about what I intend to DO with a machine and buy / build accordingly.. Buying a MAC with the intent of running DCS just does not make sense as MACS are not built with that in mind. (Yes I know some folks use them and have no issues, but you are still trying to put a square peg in a round hole..) I had to laugh when I read the heading with the big thumbs down and stating that OP was trying to run DCS on a MAC that doesn't meet minimum requirements.. And what exaclty would you think your results would be by not meeting the MINIMUM requirements? There really IS a reason they publish those requirements... Kinda like stating that your Ducati motorcycle doesn't run when you fill it up with diesel... Yep pretty much! -
Yeah my guess is you are having issues with the contrast level not being high enough for the seeker to lock.. Try flying in to the target from different directions until you get better contrast on the target..
-
What exactly are you trying to target? Remember that the seeker defines the target by the contrast level and that is probably why it is grabbing other targets.. It isn't "seeing" your target and grabs the ones it can see.. What are you trying to target?
-
Then you are missing out on a lot of time that you COULD be flying very nice planes... The HAWK while still in Beta is very mature and a pleasure to fly right now in beta... And the MIG-21 has already made it's mark as the one to beat regarding attention to detail and gorgeous visuals.. Personally, I see no reason to avoid the BETAs from any of these folks as they have all provided solid entries..

Why remote m1a2 turbine engine sound ?
outlawal2 replied to oscar19681's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
Read your post, did some quick checking with my friend Google and I have to apologize for the quick nay-saying remark... I stand corrected. It looks like you (and your friend) are correct and the Army is indeed looking at fitting diesel engines into a new revision of M1 (M1A3?) with the goal of tripling the range while emitting 1/3rd the heat signature and adding urban capabilities that the turbine engine cannot currently meet. (Due to the 1000 degree temps put out by the turbine engine, troops cannot get anywhere near the current tank let alone ride ON one so the use in urban environments is greatly reduced.) Interesting morph from VERY focused Battlefield monster to multi purpose vehicle / jack of a few more trades anyway... Not a bad idea IMHO.. -
Right... So one guy on the ground with a Strela and you abandon the entire cas mission? BS... Just because all we have seen is jerks with AK's and rocks in the last 10 years does NOT mean that all future conflicts will be that way... Yes there will be circumstances where full air superiority will be in question and CAS will still be required... And given your scenario, you outfit 2 of them with HARMS and and air to air and the other 2 outfitted for CAS... It isn't that hard to envision.. (Oh and forgot to mention that since this plane is STEALTH, it just MAY be more suitable since the CAP won't see it in the first place)

Uhhh.. NO.. You don't "upgrade" from a turbine to a diesel.. Not happenin' -
That is what SHE SAID! HaH! (You know you were thinking it too, so don't give me a bad time over it...)

THIS! I was going to type up almost exactly the post that Homefries posted! I have only personally flown the HAWK so I can't speak to any of the other trainers, but I would have no issues recommending the HAWK regardless.. Easy to fy, simple cockpit and systems and just fun... You have already stated that this is a question for the TRAINERS only, so based on that criteria my vote is the HAWK... Buy the advanced one that will be completed soon and fly the SFM right now.. Also, for newbies, the SFM for a matter of a few weeks can get them up to speed and then they can transition to the AFM at that time. Bit of an easier learning curve for a newbie that will be struggling with just flying and systems and being generally overwhelmed.. Easier learning curve for them. (And for those folks that have said things like "Why buy a sim that doesn't sim", I have heard that stuff from newbies before... Followed immediately with "Oh HOLY CRAP where do I START!?!?") Lots of folks THINK they want a true study simulation but the fact is many are overwhelmed by them... Give them a slightly easier learning curve and maybe they truly DO want a study sim, but throw them out of the pan and into the fire too early and it may turn them off completely. My vote: Buy the HWAK AFM and get up to speed with the SFM until the AFM is released... :)

SOUND ADVICE..
-
Yep, I will also chime in that this is a great suggestion.. Really no downsides for anyone this way, and it is also simpler for the customer to understand and for you folks to keep track of... And gets some much needed cash in your hands early..

Yeah anytime you replace one platform with another you have instances of comparing apples to oranges and F-35 replacing the Warthog is definitely that kind of scenario.. I don't belive anyone here would say that the F-35 would beat the A-10 at the CAS role in most circumstances. Just not true... HOWEVER I also believe that in the majority of CAS uses the plane would be able to complete the role acceptably.. (And in those instances that are NOT acceptable, bring on the Apaches and call it good..) One thing I also believe the F-35 would be able to do that the A-10 ABSOLUTELY CANNOT do is to provide any useful CAS in a contested air zone... We all know that if there are enemy fighters around, the A-10 has a life expectancy of about 4 seconds... The F-35 could not only survive in this situation, it is quite possibly the only current platform that could do so and excel at it.. Imagine a wing of F-35's with internal stores only so their stealth capabilities remain intact... They can support the troops all stealthed out and when the bad guys decide to check out what is happening they take those planes out as well... Possibilities are pretty intriguing...
-
Yeah and that is a BS example as the reason for that incident is someone screwed up on the ground... That had NOTHING to do with the platform at all... Get your facts straight before you try to use an example to support your biases..

this will be a new model ?
outlawal2 replied to NiceFlighgt's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Can someone state what you are talking about as not everyone can watch youtube from work.. What the heck is this thread about? -
CLEARLY.. You have seen me fly! LOL Well I will be revisiting this bird this weekend and I am confident that I will live much longer than I have in the past... Cheers!

OK went back and cleared all axis bindings and reset them all.. Set the MI-8 collective to SLIDER and checked off the box for INVERTED (since this is a throttle being used as a Collective) and this helicopter flies completely different now... NOW it is controllable.. Much different from the Huey or the Shark, but it IS flyable now when it wasn't before.. So anyone that thinks the MI-8 is too sensitive regarding VRS, go back and clear all axis settings and rebind them and you will have better luck! VRS is still modeled and if you can certainly get into trouble, but it is not the absurd knife-edge of smoking death that it was before I reset things.. Not sure if this works for all of the helicopter modules but worth a try if you suspect any issues with your controllers and any particular module..
-
Flagrum is absolutely right and I have always changed mine to reflect "slider" for just that reason.. Thanks!
-
X-52 Pro here and it works fine with everything else just REALLY sensitive for the MI-8... Will try the rebind idea I stated earlier and see if that helps... Thanks!
-
"I don't know if the Hip actually enters VRS easier than the Huey. I keep my descent rate within 2 - 3 m/s and I have no problems" That is the tough part for me as it is very difficult to keep the vrs low and for me to be able to keep it low enough I move my collective literally MILLIMETERS between safe and certain death... I mean I REALLY have to concentrate to keep this thing from dropping like a stone... On my system currently, VRS is more sensitive in the MI-8 right now then the Huey was when first released.. Enough of a PITA that I have stopped flying the MI-8 altogether which is a real shame as it should be a blast for me.. EDIT: Maybe tonight I will go home and try clearing out all axis commands for the MI-8 and try re-binding all of them. I tried this before but it was several revisions back...
-
Absolutely... Not sure if there may be some differences with different input controls, but I know some folks say the MI-8 is much better about VRS than it used to be, but I can still hardly fly the thing and yet NO ISSUES at all with the Huey... Weird, and I have no explanations for it... (Not going to call it a bug, but definitely an issue for me with MI-8 and no idea why that is) Anyone else feel this way?
