  1. Exactly... Come on guys... You brought up some valid points, but how about being a bit easier on the guy about them? Here's a guy trying to help out and taking the time to provide a useful guide for newbies... (And once it has been "tweaked" it WILL be useful) Thanks for the effort Buddy... As Cibit stated.. Make some corrections and try again as it will be appreciated!
  2. Yes and Internet wannabes trashing a plane they have never seen, heard, touched, have no real verifiable information about ... Well that is real sexy too! :music_whistling: EDIT: The post that this reply was referring to was removed (In case anyone was scratching their heads)
  3. Yes I find it interesting that here is a KING that is acting like a badass President.. And here in the US we have aPresident that acts like he is KING... King of Jordan: Real Leadership
  4. No, they are going to RE-Announce the MIG-21 because the drama was so much fun the first time..
  5. Oh yes that will kick some @ss! With 32 gigs memory you can setup a RAM drive and run the whole thing from memory with near zero load times... Quite certain you will pleased with that rig.. EDIT: Just noticed your existing system... I agree with Pureevil, not sure you will see much difference.. It will be a bad@ss machine, but you already have a bad@ss machine..
  6. I would assume that the flight model calculations rather than being a single fixed calculation would have an extra variable relating to the angle of the wing and would calculate accordingly... So you take the wing characteristics and calculate the results based on the angle.. Certainly different and more complex but not unsurmountable.. And I am sure LN are up to that task...
  7. Well thank you for that tidbit as I was not aware of that fact.. Guess I forget just how soon after WW2 the Korean conflict started..
  8. What comment is to be made? You are correct, it was an obvious Korea reference but not sure what that means in context this conversation? None of the planes mentioned had anything at all to do with Korea and we already have the Sabre and Mig 15.. I am not getting it.. ??
  9. Then if cash flow is not an issue then absolutely go for it... I7 is a kick-ass processor and you will certainly NOT be disappointed..
  10. I never said that the F-14 wasn't in progress too, I simply said that based on the HINTS the Corsair also fit the bill... Quote: Nick: We're not against them, perhaps it's even probable that we will build one at some point. Currently, however, all of our modules are fixed-wing. ( well, kind of.. ) Personally, I am pretty convinced that F-14 is in the works along with the Corsair and Zero, but that is simply my hunch and nothing has been verified.. If I had to guess I would say we will see the Corsair FIRST and then possibly the F-14... Although an argument could be made that BOTH the WW2 fighters may be released first simply due to the complexity of the F-14... And I for one do not care either way.. Day one buy for all three of them for me..
  11. And the WW2 Corsair F4U is a carrier aircraft with folding wings..
  12. Unless you are a heavy user of apps that take advantage of multi core as well as multi threading, I would still recommend that I5 over the I7 based on your repeated statements that money is an object.. YES I7 is better, but only in certain circumstances and based on what I have read I believe you are better served buying the hottest I5 you can get your hands on and using the saved dollars for a good GPU in the future...
  13. I wholeheartedly agree with the Corsair and Zero... That would make my day for sure! But I part ways with you my friend when you say you have no interest in the Tomcat...
  14. Personally I would wait given your situation.. (I too have a 770GTX and I am pretty pleased with the performance and I am running 3440x1440...) Considering the fact that your existing card is pretty darn good and runs things well now, I would wait for EDGE to arrive as the equipment will continue to get better and the prices will continue to get better as well.. As far as the debate over 970 vs 980, I agree that the best bang for your buck by far is the 970, but currently they do have some vram issues that may be of concern... (I also believe that the issue may be overblown at this point and would probably not affect most users unless you run 4k or multiple monitors... But I don't KNOW this to be fact, just a hunch.) The issue does give me pause though.. In a nutshell the 970 is the best buy for the money (If you can live with the aforementioned vram issue) If you want the best of the best then the 980 is a solid choice albeit much more expensive. As mentioned above you can also do 2x 970s in SLI, but I have found that SLI can be a pain and generally gives 30% to 40% improvement. I generally stay away from SLI as I don't think the benefits are there.. (Folks that think they can get twice the performance by adding a 2nd card in SLI are sorely mistaken.) And considering you have a GTX770 now, my recommendation would be to wait for EDGE and maybe by the time it is released Nvidia may have fixed the vram issue and will bring the prices down due to bad press over the issues. You may get a LOT more card for a lot less money by waiting
  15. That would be about 2 weeks AFTER it is released for NON-Steam DCS...
  16. Try google, there are tons of pics showing the displays powered up and there are videos showing the simulators in use.. (And the simulators all use the same core as the actual airplane so they are extremely accurate..)
  17. Hmm guess I never really looked / noticed.. I will check mine when I get home, but I don't believe it has that issue.. (Of course my not having the issue says little to nothing regarding overall reliability of the model..) Just sayin'..
  18. What exactly do you mean by "hotspots"?
  19. I think it is fake as well... Can't put my finger on exactly why, but it doesn't look natural.. (and REALLY splitting hairs here, but not quite natural..) Pretty cool that the state of DCS is at the point that we DO debate whether footage like this is real or not... And DCS is only going to get better moving forward... Pretty sweet
  20. I did not have to adjust anything other than the resolution in the options screen... Works great
  21. Actually you might want to look again as they are actually taller than a standard 27" monitor and have higher vertical resolution. They LOOK like slits for sure, but it took me about an hour to get used to it and I am not going back!
  22. OP stated LG UM95 in original post, but thanks for the info on HDMI 2.0 as I was not aware of that info..
  23. That may be true for thew card, but the monitor does not support that. Further digging shows that the monitor supports 50MHZ using HDMI at full resolution so I apologize for the mistake and stating 33.. This montior does not support HDMI 2.0 so I still recommend only using Displayport or Thunderbird as I was not happy with HDMI at 50...
  24. I was OK with your response until that last line. The sexual innuendo was totally unacceptable and uncalled for. Nothing I said was inflammatory or disrespectful to you or anyone else. I can't say the same about your comments If you reread what I said I agreed that it would be cool. I was simply stating that ARMA in it's current form is WORLDS better than anything ED is going to come up with in the near future and I stated why... Personally I have no affinity for ARMA and seldom play it at all... If you are unable to have a reasonable discussion with adults then please don't post. And certainly don't ask questions if you don't want to listen to the answer.
  25. I have that exact monitor and I love it. (and I am using a GTX770TI) Do NOT try to use this monitor with anything less than 770 though. IMHO that is the lowest graphic card I would recommend.. Your 980 ought to be excellent. A few things to consider with this monitor is that it has all kinds of inputs, but the only inputs you should use for DCS are the DISPLAYPORT or the Thunderbolt inputs... The reason why is that the HDMI standard only provides 33mhz when running at 3440x1440 and that is the point of buying the monitor isn't it? Displayport and Thunderbolt support 55mhz at full resolution. (And YES that is high enough refresh rate.. Not sure why that end up being acceptable, but I have VERY sensitive eyes and this monitor works great and presented no issues at 55mhz where many others suck at much higher resolutions) Go figure.. Verify that you have a Displayport output on your card and if not, steer away from this monitor as you will not be happy running it at 33mhz.. (33Mhz is NOT acceptable to my eyes) And that isn't a problem with the monitor, it is a problem with the HDMI standard as written... HDMI was designed for HD TVs not computer gaming / simulation so HDMI is great for TV use at 1080p... Just not for 3440x1440...
