  1. As soon as ED obtains the 500+ BILLION dollars of reserve cash (Like Apple has on hand) then pretty much anything is possible.. Without that cash.. Not so much...
  2. - Am I totally overkilling this - is DCS even this intensive on the CPU/GPU? I7 is awesome, but unless you do video editing or something that requires multi thread / multi core you are better served buying the best I5 you can and saving a few dollars - Is the DDR4 RAM actually going to speed this up as vs DDR3? YES - Could 32gb RAM help or is 16gb enough. No advantage to 32 GIG unless you plan to use a RAM drive - A potential SLI on the MAXIMUS VII would only work at x8 x8 rather than x16 x16 as on the x99. Is this a real gainer? Not sure but I don't think current video cards can use all of those lanes in SLI anyway... (NOT SURE ON THAT ONE) - Finally, is a single 970 sufficient for great FPS on DCS (warthog/mig) with a Ultrawide 1440p with a 5820. Not sure about "GREAT" FPS, but I am running 3440 by 1440 LG with a 770TI and it runs good.. Would not recommend anything LESS than a 770 but the 970 should suffice..
  3. As long as you have been here, this surely does not surprise you? :(
  4. Completely different plane?
  5. Mostly because it is a proprietary "standard" (not even a standard at this point) and only usable for AMD.. ED is a small company and have to focus on coding keeping the "Biggest bang for the buck" mantra firmly in view.. Besides, nearly all of the benefits of MANTLE will be realized with Microsoft's DirectX 12 and that API can be used with all hardware, not just AMD... MANTLE in DCS.. Is not happening...
  6. You mention spring forces.. Is the spring tension adjustable?
  7. Same here...
  8. Decent write up... In fairness though there was only the one single line about it being Russian-minded, and if you are not a hard line DCS fan then the fact that the last 10 years has been played only in the caucases, you might make that conclusion...
  9. Yes it is DX11 only at this point. One of the few facts we DO have about EDGE thus far..
  10. I believe PMAN said that VEAO are doing a WW2 carrier.. I *THINK* I remember reading that somewhere...
  11. They are also key features to DX11 as well.. That was the point of going to DX11. DX12 is not yet available and keep in mind that Microsoft will only be releasing it to their newest OS which is going to be Windows 10... ED will not have the time / resources to code for DX12 at this point in time and not really any reason to if the only people that can use it are folks on Windows 10. Makes a LOT more sense to support DX11 and keep your customer base than to shoot for a standard that isn't even carved out yet and alienate 3/4 of your customer base...
  12. Dynamite works well
  13. I gave what my choices would be.. I pick Nvidia because they HISTORICALLY have been better with DCS and definitely provide better driver support.. They are also currently the best bang for your buck. If you like AMD then go with a comparable AMD setup.. I was simply stating what I would recommend.. Your mileage may vary
  14. Buh Bye!
  15. LOL.. So what are you trying to say? JK
  16. OK some on that list will see benefits from an I7, but for MY money I would simply buy the best I5 I could get my hands on and save a few dollars for some other parts... (Like an EVO 512GIG SSD which I forgot to mention in my listing.) You DEFINITELY want to go with a good SSD.. So EVO SSD 512GIG and the rest of my recommendation still holds true.. Core I5 (Fastest I could find) With 32 MEGS RAM, (32MEGS IS overkill so if you need to save cash then 16MEGS should be more than enough but make sure your MB can take 32 in case you need it later) 2 970GTX video cards in SLI (BE ADVISED THAT THIS IS RECOMMENDED FOR EDGE 2.0.. SLI configurations are NOT recommended or supported until EDGE 2.0 comes out. Some folks have made SLI work but others have not... Just an FYI. You are on your own running SLI with the current version) Windows 7 or Windows 10 64 bit (Depends on when I bought the equipment.) Closed loop water cooler for ease of build FATALITY 850 power supply That is what I would recommend right now...
  17. Do you do anything OTHER than DCS with your computer? (Other games, please be specific) encoding video, etc?
  18. remi That is really bad advice.. If you bother to look at the test rigs of the folks testing EDGE, you will see that they are not running super fantastical Cray super computers... EDGE DOES NOT require 4k to run .. That would be severe overkill.. If you don't have useful information for folks please do not respond... Below is a response I penned a few days ago and have repeated at least 5 times now... This is decent advice for the OP.. The HORRORS! You folks would have a friggin cow.. AGAIN Anyway, there is plenty of information that HAS been provided if you look at what has been said and done. Multi-core is NOT supported... (So pretty much the same rule applies going forward. Buy the fastest MHZ I-5 that you can get your hands on or spend some extra and get the I7 if you do video processing. Memory is currently something like MIN 6Gig.. So buy 16 and you should be good.. 32 and you are future proof. (I would BUY 16 Gig but have a mainboard that could take 32.) Current DCS 2.0 testers have stated existing DirectX 11 cards are being used for testing and that multi-GPUs are supported. So considering that BOTH AMD and Nvidia have issues, pick the one that you are the least mad at and buy one (or 2). I still think the Nvidia thing is overblown so I would buy 2 970gtx's... It isn't that difficult folks if you look at what they HAVE said.. So my fairy tale system based on the above would be: Core I5 (Fastest I could find) With 32 MEGS RAM, 2 970GTX video cards in SLI Windows 7 or Windows 10 64 bit (Depends on when I bought the equipment.) Closed loop water cooler for ease of build FATALITY 850 power supply Plenty of horsepower for whatever you are going to do in the next 2 or 3 years including DCS 2.0...
  19. So where is that A4 we were supposed to be getting? Been quite some time without an update from Jazaero... ???
  20. LOL Looks like this is the question about every 4 pages or so now.. Above is my response to that question I left about 4 pages ago..
  21. And I have heard that before too. And that the rotors would explode if they did go supersonic and yet I have also heard that the Huey rotor tips DO go supersonic and the distinctive Whop-Whop sound is due to the rotors breaking the sound barrier... Hmmm. So which one is true? Anyone have a definitive answer with a reputable source?

  23. Why? Nearly EVERY thread seems to turn into that... And interestingly enough it seems to be the same people that continually make that happen... Hmmmmmm....
  24. Umm no... As has been stated about 1000 times, DCS 2.0 does NOT support multi-core and will not in the near future. It DOES support MULTI GPU's, but not Multi CORES...
