One big screen or several MFD screen for aircrat?
outlawal2 replied to FoxHoundELite's topic in Military and Aviation
One large screen makes sense to me. With one large one you can split it up into 2,3,4 however many different displays as the pilot wants and he/she can decide how they are layed out... Also, if you select a display such as a map for example, now you have one very large display so the amount of information and detail can be far greater than a small display such as the A-10 has... Much more flexible and easier to upgrade as you only need to change the software during upgrades.. -
Well it would have until you put the big tear in it! LOL
-
Yep so still wondering how you could burn through eight of them in less than a month?
-
I would like to see the answer to this question as well... ????

Please accept my apologies as I misread the heading and thought this was the purely F-35 thread.. My mistake, and please continue with the debate!
-
Aaaaand once again how about we talk about the F-35 and leave the "My plane is better than yours " for another thread please?

As I understand it there are no hard fast rules regarding the 2, but generally speaking an interceptor is build for SPEED and may have somewhat less ordnance with the intent of getting somewhere very fast to tie up the bad guys so your superiority fighters can get there slightly later but with more weapons and higher maneuverability... So you launch the interceptors and keep them busy, then launch the slower but more combat capable aircraft after the fact. The interceptor keeps the bad guys occupied until the others arrive. Obviously there can be a lot of overlap as far as equipment goes and in some cases you may use the same aircraft for both missions and simply load them out differently... On the opposite end of the spectrum would be the Foxbat which is a perfect example of a true interceptor. Not very agile but damned FAST...

Yeah that is all I have for you at this point.. (Wish I DID have some personal experience as it would mean I had one at home!) Have a good one!

I am with Pikey on this one... I have rebuilt and or replaced my machine(s) multiple times and always have enough activations for all modules. Not one time did I have to go back to ED due to an activation discrepancy... While I hate copy protection schemes I do understand the need for them and ED's is about the most forgiving I have seen.. To the OP, don't worry about it unless it actually becomes an issue.. And It won't..

I have been watching KOMODOSIMS and their progress with their controllers for some time and am simply waiting for the Black Shark controllers to be completed and will be purchasing.. I have zero personal experience with them, but have read multiple reviews that all state that they are excellent quality and make a huge difference in the experience and immersion... Google some reviews and you will see what I mean...

And again who cares? Flying slow and dumb will get you killed.. (This sounds like the WONDERFUL COBRA maneuver.. Looks great at airshows.. Absolutely ZERO combat use..)
-
No, not little attention, just less than you deem fit... We all have our opinions on what the relative merits are and how things SHOULD be designed, but railing about maneuverability when the platform was designed with other parameters (namely stealth and systems reliance) is silly.. Besides, we have no idea how it will fair once perfected.. (And I am betting it may not be the most agile in the world but it will be damn good..) I would guess the designers know a bit more about designing a plane than you or I do..

Hummingbird you seem to have an axe to grind regarding the F-35... Did it steal your girlfriend or something? Once again I will point out that the F-35 SYSTEMS and STEALTH will allow the plane to wipeout any adversary BEFORE it gets close in, so for about the 30th time.. What the heck is your POINT? If you want to bring a knife to a gun fight go ahead, but that isn't how the F-35 will ever be used so you are simply wasting space with these videos and unfounded accusations... GIVE IT A REST PLEASE
-
If this was the issue it wouldn't be RAM it would be VIDEO memory.. How much video ram do you have and how many screens and what res etc.. ?
-
You are absolutely correct with that statement in regards to 60's dogfighting and only time will tell if we are making the same mistakes again... Personally, I am betting on the technology today as it is sooo far ahead of what we had even in the 90's and might as well be centuries ahead of 60s technology... But your cautionary statement is well taken my friend...
-
And the final statement on this (and this has been stated about a hundred times or more) is that any F-35 pilot that gets himself into a turning fight with ANYTHING deserves to be shot down... The F-35 is designed to defeat it's opponent using superior systems including Stealth, target acquisition/tracking and missiles capable of destroying the enemy BVR... How many times are people going to bring up useless arguments that have ZERO bearing on how the plane is designed to be used? Tactics change and as they do, so does the equipment and what the focus of that equipment is... Folks need to understand that turning and burning when it comes to future aerial warfare will take a distant back burner to Stealth and BVR engagements... (At least until THOSE tactics change due to technology improvements anyway.) You may not like it and it may not be as glamorous, but the F-35 once all the wrinkles are ironed out will be far more effective with it's superior systems and stealth than it's opponents and certainly more survivable than previous planes such as the F-15, F-16 / F-18 etc... Once again give the wing loading stats a rest please... Those stats have ZERO bearing on the validity of the F-35 in it's designated role...

You might want to spend some time searching for appropriate threads regarding the HIND.. Belsimtek has said that they are looking into the HIND and I believe it is already on the long term list to be built.. As for "Russian Helo for crying out loud" you should aslo take a few minutes and count how many helos are available for DCS... There are already 2 RUSSIAN HELOS available in DCS so another western ride simply evens the playing field a bit... Search is your friend.. Please stop spamming this thread that is SPECIFIC to the Cobra and find the appropriate thread(s) regarding the HIND or the helicopter wish-list..
-
Give it a rest, please... Shall we get back on track and talk about the MODULE please..?
-
That is because the next helicopter was already set, just not the exact revision... There was no HIND option because it isn't relevant to the question at hand...
-
Ahh thank you for that... Well shouldn't be a surprise that the W would take longer to develop as it is MUCH more advanced than the previous models so systems will be a challenge for sure.. I like that decision even with the longer timeframe...
-
I don't know, is it? I have no idea what the hell that says... A hint maybe when linking to threads in foreign languages? :helpsmilie:

New Build - Another set of eyes needed
outlawal2 replied to Ashstomper's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It is never a good idea to work on a machine that is plugged in, but at the same time if you are not plugged into the wall you have no ability to ground yourself and can harm equipment with static electricity.. A trick I learned a long time ago is to take a standard three-prong cord and using pair of pliers REMOVE the two prongs for the electricity leaving the single prong for the GROUND wire.. (US folks only. I am sure other countries will be similar but I have no experience with electrical items outside the US) Now you can still be lugged into the wall (and GROUNDED) but no power to the equipment... :O) -
+1:thumbup: Excellent drives..

Sounds like somehting else is bound to the view. Check your key bindings..
