And exactly what does any of that have to do with the TOPIC which is the MIG-21? If you have issues with ED, find the appropriate thread and state your issues there.. Do not clog the MIG-21 thread with these statements and worse yet don't condemn the work that Leatherneck has done due to whatever beef you may have with ED and the overall environment... (And not sure what issues you are talking about as I do not suffer any of what you are speaking of so maybe an issue with your machine? If you have an SSD do a search as there are MANY threads about SSD issues causing stuttering in DCS.)

I didn't read it that way, but regrdless I just hate seeing people make rude statements condemning the hard work that the DEVS have spent literally YEARS of their lives working on. This does not in any way mean that criticism should be shunned, on the contrary, CONSTRUCTIVE criticism should always be provided if there is a legitimate reason for it. No idea on FPS as it is dependent on settings etc. (And I don't have that particular card and don't use AMD cards in the first place..) I CAN say that the power supply you listed should do nicely for your system (At least based on what you have listed thus far..) If you are planning on adding drives in the future maybe a 600 would make you feel better, but as-is should be good) SNIPED:Skate FWIW I usually overbuy when it comes to power supplies as it is a REAL killer if you don't have enough power. Makes all kinds of weirdnesses and extremely hard to troubleshoot..)

That is great if you have a MAC, but I don't see that it can be used without Thunderbolt interface... (And I am not certain you can even GET Thunderbolt for WIN machines..) :O)

That should be a HUGE improvement, yes...

64 bit with 8 megs you should be good to go.. The only thing that is going to limit you at that point may be your GPU as I am not familiar with that particular card... Others on the forum should be able to chime in and let you know what kind of performance you may get with that card... My guess is that the video card will be pretty weak and you will need to turn some details down to get decent framerates, but you should be able to find settings that will work acceptably...

No, that will not run DCS.. Stats are showing Vista X86 ... This is a 32 bit system and DCS now requires 64 bit.. Recommend upgrading to WIN7 64 bit... Then should be good to go.. EDIT: I just saw that you plan to upgrade to 8MB of memory. Vista 32 bit will NOT recognize any memory above 4 GIG. Once again recommend that you upgrade to WIN7 64 bit (And then update your memory.) No 32 bit OS can use more than 4GIG memory. Beyond that amount requires a 64 bit OS...

4K is great, but they are extremely expensive... And don't forget that you need to DRIVE all of those extra pixels so you would need a TITAN or similar to run it... And I know folks will say SLI, but SLI is not currently supported in DCS so I would REALLY recommend waiting until EDGE comes out and then making the decision on whether 4k makes sense or no.. More expense to 4k than just the huge dollars invested in the panel itself..

Not to be too much a stick in the mud, but... I have to agree with Flagrum on that one... I love these kinds of things as much as the next guy, but getting THAT close to civilians under any circumstances is foolish wreckless and putting folks at risk for no good reason.. As many airshow issues as we have seen in the last decade or so, there are good reasons that airshows are generally limited to not overflying spectators and have clear lanes that they are supposed to adhere to... So either wreckless pilot or haphazard, lacking security regarding the airstrip, either way it is an EPIC FAIL :cry:

LOL the cynics have just completely overtaken this forum haven't they? :doh: Certainly ED would focus on new customers, but EDGE, the different polls asking about which planes and eras are of interest, the updates etc. greatly affect the existing customer base... I am generally considered someone on the slightly cynical side of realistic, but folks on this forum are the most doom and gloom bunch I have ever dealt with... Must be a cold, dark and cruel world you live in my friend... :( Come visit my side of things and you will see the best Flight sim ever created... At a reasonable price point and support for a plethora of hardware equipment. Also, there are currently multiple eras represented with anything from WW2 all the way to current equipment all modeled with unparalelled fidelity and all this is reachable using a $1000 computer that can be purchased nearly anywhere. Belsimtek have provided 2 tremendous helicopters and a 3rd is on the way... Also in my DCS World we have all the above "But WAIT, there's more!" We have several trainer airframes being developed for those folks that want a true career experience... So even if you don't want to blow stuff up, you can still partake in fully detailed training scenarios to take you from green newbie all the way to seasoned pilot and to ready you to move on to more formidable planes in a realistic manner.. (Rather than just strapping into a $30 Million dollar aircraft and crashing it 20 times in a row...) Along with the trainers, on the horizon is the F-18 from DCS, The Typhoon from VEAO and a version of the Cobra... ED is developing EDGE which will bring this sim up to current DirectX standards boosting the already excellent visuals far beyond their current state and yet will still provide this for free along with a fully functional airframe in the SU25... I don't know guys I think we all need to take a collective deep breath and look at how GOOD we have things RIGHT NOW, and the fact that things are only going to get better.. But remember that this is a VERY small team of individuals...

As stated, google cockpits and look for yourself.. Whatever the reason, whatever maintenance is done or not done, there are TONS of planes out there that look like they went thru the apocalypse... Pretty much ANY state of wear is possible so no matter what is provided by the DEVS someone will be unhappy. (They simply made the cockpit according to the pics they had at the time..) And please remember that one of the guys on the team is a REAL LIFE Mig-21 pilot so if this was unrealistic I am certain he would have done something about it.. Something else is the fact that there are MANY different military establishments all around the world using the Mig-21 and many of them have very poor funding and or training and can barely afford the plane itself let alone costly refits... I can guarantee you that if the plane is functional and funding is poor, the very LAST thing they will do is anyhting regarding aesthetics..

To the original OP, I don't particularly like a worn out look for a cokpit either, but the sad fact is that many of these planes are 50 years old or more... Do a google search on pretty much any military plane and you will see that they are in various forms of wretched... You may prefer a "cleaner" cockpit, but saying it is inaccurate is well... Inaccurate..
