Bottom line is that the kind of granularity everyone wants as far as era switching, maps, vehicles etc. would require a total rewrite of DCS World and I for one think going the separate install route is the way to go. Despite the fact that it will fill your hard drive up, I still like that option better than having ED tied up rewriting EVERYTHING.. Better to wait for EDGE to complete.. And F-18 to be released... And 3rd party Devs get up to speed and release a few modules... THEN look at the overall structure to take into account different eras, maps, vehicles etc.. (And hopefully a dynamic campaign as well!) One step at a time folks... If we all take a breath and look at where we were 3 yeqrs ago and where we are now, quite a bit of progress has been made.. And right now MANY pieces are coming together at once. My opinion is that 2 years from now, DCS World will be a completely different beast with many new pieces and a multitude of aircraft / scenarios etc... Just a few major pieces holding things up at this point...

I am not certain I understand this statement... Most (if not all ) of the devs are working on more advanced modules and they WILL be released at a later date... By releasing a trainer (or some other less advanced plane or helicopter) they obtain the knowledge to complete the more advanced plane later.. Why would you want to wait God knows how long for a plane when a less advanced one becomes available? Also, 2 things to consider is: 1) If you don't like the trainer don't buy it (But don't limit the learning/knowledge advantage the devs get from development of it) 2) By not providing the trainer, the devs will go MUCH longer with no revenue stream to pay for the development of the more advanced module.. I believe WAGS said about $120,000 for a WW2 module, so no avionics, systems etc. How much do you think a modern plane/helicopter with all the systems and bells and whistles will cost? Unfortunately, folks need to look at these things from the basis of running a business... I think for many of these devs if you went with the "I am going to program a (fill in the blank here, F-22, F-35, PAK 50, Typhoon, whatever) as my first plane" I think what you would get is a bankrupt company and one less dev to provide modules for DCS... And finally, half the threads on this forum whine about how long it takes to get finished modules, so here we have devs trying to provide top quality modules quickly... And folks don't like that either... At the end of the day, everyone has their own opinions, and the devs have theirs as well, but THEIR opinions are based on harsh business realities not just a passion for a particular plane, genre etc..

Well he started it! (That is also in reference to the fact that your 2 year old gets along better than we do!) :megalol:

At the end of the day we all have our own reasons for simming and opinions on what is required to make us happy.. Many folks love blowing things up and theatres and trainers and anything else be damned.. Some fly all of these planes / helicopters and never fire a shot... Point is that for the OP, immersion is king and lack of a viable theatre is an immersion killer.. FOR HIM We can all debate the relative merits of this point of view and how it relates to OURSELVES, but we should do so respectfully because our responses are simply opinions as well... My personal opinion is that ED has waited too long to release a new theatre and yes in my opinion it is indeed an immersion to killer to a point... But I also recognize the box they are in at the moment with EDGE.. It makes ZERO sense to release a new map using the old renderer.. Period. And they can't release a new map until EDGE is ready... CLEARLY, they miscalculated the difficulty of creating EDGE and unfortunately all we can do is wait for it at this point. (And that is no slam on ED either, stuff happens and these things are extremely complicated.) It will be completed.. And I think it will be excellent... But no idea when it will be ready for prime time.. I also believe that new maps will come once EDGE is released and the tools released to 3rd parties .. I REALLY hope that some 3rd party picks up the torch and works exclusively on theatre maps and possibly a dynamic campaign... Both of those would ramp up the immersion ten-fold.. To the OP I hear ya and agree whoeheartedly, but I will be purchasing the Sabre day one anyway as it will undoubtedly be a great module..

REQUEST - SPLIT DCS WORLD forum from SU-25T Forum...

+1 here as well... -
Isn't that the truth! I work I/T here in the states and we do a lot of work with firms in India and Manila etc... Every time I find it difficult to understand them I think to myself... "Give 'em a break, how is your Indian? or Japanese or Pashtu or whatever language they speak as a first language...?" PERSPECTIVE

God they DO make 'em pretty!

So exactly why is it that 2 pages ago I mention the word "troll" and my posting is deleted instantly... Since then 3 instances mentioned by others and they are still published.. Exactly why is that Mods?

LOL That made my day..

Yeah a legit question asking about the flight model in an IPAD app... :EDIT OK just saw the hidden smilie.. I feel better now.. LOL

I agree... That is a BAD-ASS looking plane...

Uh oh that doesn't sound good..

Same here.. We are starting to see the occasional bear as well... (sadly, there have been 3 young ones dead by the side of the road so far this spring.. 3 different incidents so there appear to be more bears here than we might have thought before..)
-
Yep we have them here in Wisconsin... Not huge numbers so it is always a treat to see them.. (Well a treat for us as we don't raise poultry!) they are a pain for farmers but we love 'em! Had one at our bird feeders a few years back...

That is most definitely a FOX...

As has been stated at least 50 times, EDGE will still be able to use the old maps but not all of the bells and whistles will be available... So an older map will look BETTER in EDGE, but not as good as an EDGE map...

Total and absolute Bull Sh#t... You are completely full of it.. I am done

And once again DAMNING evidence (not) that the F-22 is not the best dog fighter in the world.. WELL NO SH*t It never was intended to be and no one ever said it was.. As has been stated over and over in this thread and MANY others is that if a Raptor gets into a turn and burn fight it has already SCREWED UP immensely... So pointing out that it has lost dogfights in scenarios SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED to ensure a dogfight is ridiculous.. And the fact that folks continue to post this drivel is annoying beyond compare.. And like Sith asked.. And how many kills did the F-22's get anyway (for their ONE loss)?

BINGO!
-
Yep everyone is a critic... And yet we don't even have a product in-hand to critique!... LOL Whatever.. The screenshots look tremendous.. Great work folks!
-
And another pointless thread debating 2 dis-similar approaches argued vehemently by folks that have little useable knowledge about ANY of it (other than internet search pages) Please let it go and just walk away...

WOW.. Holy crap... BRING IT

As I understand it, some 50 cent part in the oxygen replenishment system had been replaced with an inferior grade material and was breaking down and giving off particulates that the pilots were then breathing.. Once they figured this out and replaced the part with the correct original specification the issue went away... What does tick me off about the whole thing isn't really that they had an issue, ((Stuff happens with complex equipment) I am ticked because the Air Force refused to listen to their pilots and it took 60 minutes to rattle their chains enough to get them to fix it. No excus for that BS..
