Also keep in mind that this is a constantly moving target... Think back to WW2 where the pinnacle was arguably the P-51 Mustang or the FW 190... Those were state of the art planes and there were some similarities... And they ruled the skies... Until jet engine technlogy came around and Germany stuffed a jet engine in an airframe.. THAT plane was totally different, looking nothing like previous planes and had amazing peformance that nothing at the time could match.. And it ruled the skies... Until everyone else followed suit and built similar.. And then better planes.. It is a moving target and we are all limited by our current knowledge and technology... We couldn't build an F-22 back in 1950 due to limits in knowledge, skills, manufacturing practices, materials etc.. It is a constantly moving target and everyone has their own ideas, goals, limitations etc. to work thru so your end result is a wide variety of airframes used to handle the job at hand.. Some are extraordinary.. And some are junk... Happens..

The similarities between planes is also a function of the fact that the primary objectives are now very similar and when dealing with technology, specific shapes or design cues favor different results.. So if you want stealth, certain design attributes simply work better and this limits your options.. Another example is the fact that the Western countries (for whatever reason) seem to be able to build jet engines to reach a particular performance goal and they manage to keep those engines MUCH smaller than Russian or Chinese companies build. That is the reason that many of the Russian planes are much larger than American planes is the airframe has to be larger to incorporate the much larger engines. (SU-27 I am looking at YOU)

Sorry folks, you don't just put tougher wheels on it and it is good to go... The landing gear for naval use requires that the entire airframe be designed specifically to handle the added stresses... You don't just retrofit new gear and all is well...

My take would be go with the GTX770... I have one and it made all the difference.. You have a decent controller setup there so I would go with the Video card first... Then next year the Warthog..

IMHO Track IR is an absolute MUST especially when trying to hover a chopper.. I tried for the longest time to land the Black Shark onto the Russian carrier by sideslipping from a hover.. (As that is how naval pilots do it IRL) Fought with it forever until I got a Track IR and that made all the difference.. Hooked up Track IR and was landing nicely within the first session using it

Personally, I think the Hawk will be an excellent addition to the DCS world because it will allow folks that have ZERO REAL WORLD experience jump in and learn the ropes just like a real combat pilot would.. No military in the world trains their new pilots using F-35s or MIG 29's etc... They use purpose-built trainers with enough systems and abilities to properly train personnel to use the more advanced and uber-expensive combat aircraft. I am really looking forward to this plane and am hoping the devs spend the time to create a really good training regimen... Maybe even so far as to create a training "Campaign" I could envision a training regimen that turns into a combat campain once the basics have been learned.. (I don't know maybe the airbase is attacked during the last week fo formal training.. Something on that order) Regardless, The Hawk, along with a well thought out training scenario will be an excellent addition and perfect primer for folks to see what it is REALLY like to go thru the ranks as a fighter pilot...

Yeah releasing multicrew trainer that can't be used as a multi user trainer.. Yeah I can see why the mods are so exasperated at us all. Makes perfect sense to provide a non functioning multicrew plane, right? Why would THAT open things up to question? Sorry guys but these ARE legitimate questions and just because you field stupid questions all day long doesn't make it reasonable to say that these questions are stupid and shoot down your customers that ask..

Unless they INTEND to make it dual-seat capable once that code is in place.. Then it would serve as a free WW2 prop plane AS WELL as a dual-seat demonstrator... Now THAT would make some sense! :thumbup:

Maybe I am missing something here, but why do the work on a dual seat trainer as a free plane if you can't use it as a dual seat trainer? I guess I see some of the logic as they don't want to give away the P-51 (and folks that have already bought it would be quite peeved if it was given away) but a dual seat trainer that isn't dual seat capable is ... Silly? Or am I completely off-base with zero hope? LOL

Actually, no, the list shows a working progress towards finishing what everyone is asking for in the first place... (These are complex modules and they take time to complete.) Peoples expectations and how quickly they want things completed.. Now THAT is science fiction... :thumbup:
