Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
McBlemmen replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I had a very similar experience. I enjoyed flying the f16 a lot , but the setup and the general UI is complete crap. (especially the keybinding). Maybe DCS just spoiled me. Anyway i would buy a DCS F16 day one (maybe not day one if i already owned the F18 ) but i'm sure a LOT of people would stick with BMS becouse of its campaign engine. I do however think those people would also buy the DCS version , just not play it (as much). But hey , the devs would get their money so everyone wins. I think as soon as the F18 comes out and ground radar is available we will see people making an F16. Will they finish it? I don't know. But i would bet good money we will definately see an F16 "in progress" after the F18. -
All AI do , not just wingmen

Rudder no longer trims. Thank you ED!

great change. this was a pain in the ass -
Never , when i was learning the A-10 i didn't really realise it existed even though i kinda did , and now i don't need it anymore. I'll definately use it for the next big DCS aircraft i have to learn though

So you're asking if there's a place where you can learn the ins and outs of DCS? You're there.

Next DCS (European) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
McBlemmen replied to Busterbvi's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Problem is the AI aren't idiots, and neither are most people in multiplayer. Unless you try to fly stealthy between mountains or whatever your opponent will almost always get the first shot off and have a SA , countermeasures and range advantage Edit : i like the mig don't get me wrong , but it ****ing sucks in air to air combat compared to the other flyables -
Hey there. Welcome. First quesion : No you do not need to use TARGET. I think the majority of people will advise that you do (they always did for me , anyway) but it is in no way nececary. I only use my profiler software for a few essential commands and bind the rest trough the game itsellf. (PS : I do not use a tm warthog mysellf , but the general idea should be the same) Also , for me whenever i learn a new jet , binding the hotas commands is one of the hardest parts becouse you don't exacly know what you will need and what you wont need, but if you slowly tweak it over time it will all work out. Second question : You cap hop into multiplayer any time you want. There's plenty of people that take on noobies to teach them the ropes , and there's also people who prefer to only play with experienced people. It's a natural evolution sorta thing. (check the multiplayer section of the forums for more info) Third question , the wheel brake axis is most likely inverted. Go into your control settings < A10C SIM < axis commands < "wheel brakes (or however the axis is called)" , click it once , click "axis tune" in the botton , then tick "inverted" (or untick if it's already ticked) hope it helped

People really can't take a joke here , wow
-
Wrong. The A10C can't do CCIP becouse if you pull out of a dive (any dive) you will break your wings 100% of the time , guaranteed. You should only do CCRP bombing , preferably at altitudes above 25.000ft. :pilotfly: :joystick:

See post above ^^ Honestly i realise i'm "defending" scaling alot here, but i'm not dead set on getting scaling implemented , i just want A way to have more realistic vision. People were discussing zoom earlyer in the thread, if they can find a way to just make aircraft "stand out" more at range , i'm fine zooming in to be able to identify it... problem is right now like you said aircraft "blend in" with the enviornment SO easily it's insane! I don't know anything about graphic development or whatever you would call it , so scaling just seems like a somewhat simple yet reliable way to achieve what i want. Though for all i know EDGE has already done something to imrpove aircraft visibility and on day 1 of EDGE i will see everything alot clearer.. who knows
-
Sithspawn you make a very good point.. scaling wont help in a 1nm dogfight. Though that said, i am still of the opinion it should be considered. (I'm sure the devs already have/are considering it.) Though ofcoarse if they could find a way to make the 1NM dogfight more realistic , and at the same time improve longer range visibility, and they can do it without scaling , that would be just fine for me.
-
Nobody said it would. The point of scaling isnt to get real life vision , it's to counter all the things that detract from our simulated vision
-
This is a great vid to show you how to modify labels to have them exacly the way you want
-
Don't you know real pilots always have their stick in one hand and binocs in the other when they're merged?! :pilotfly:
-
Use steam for long enough and stuff like that will happen. I've had my fair share of games bought at full price right before a big discount
-
Also why are people argueing about buildings being scaled? This is about A/A combat.. anything on the ground in fine. Ground units are slow and camouflaged IRL so should be hard to spot , and buildings don't move so all you need is the correct intel on where they're located. this is about dogfights
-
Please be joking... I see one pixel when max zoomed in , that's not "easily visible"
-
this sale came in just in time.. i was about to buy mig 21 full price a few hours before it but decided to wait. needless to say you're now looking at one happy mig pilot
-
Yes i imagine it would too , that's why this is THE perfect time to implement it. It's now or never.
-
Exacly , and if anything, it's kind of a tradeoff. In real life your FOV is so much bigger, so making targets bigger at a distance will remedy this... So realism point : -1 for out horrible FOV , +1 for still being able to see stuff regardless. It balances each other out. Also (this is a general point and not directed at homefires or anyone in particular) : There is absolutely no reason to NOT add scaling. We have labels , we have unlimited ammo , invincibility , you name it. Why not scaling? Why not give people that want it the option , and let people enjoy better visibility without getting sucked out of the game immersion by labels( i really cannot play with labels , it just kills the immersion)? I'm sure loads of servers , especially WW2/korea oriented ones would enable this.. and in turn the amount of people flying those aircraft would also increase. And hey , people who insist its unrealistic and want to keep playing with a pilot that is half blind can keep doing what they want. It's the "realistic" experience after all.
-
I think people need to keep in mind the idea is to SOMEHOW find a solution to make planes more visible within visual range without having to zoom in... as soon as you zoom in you lose all spacial awareness and it's basically like you're looking trough binoculars. There's a difference between just spotting a guy while looking around , and using binoculars to search the sky in very small segments at a time. THATS what needs to change, imo. I don't know the realistic distances , and like some have said maybe 10NM is too far to be spotted easily , but i'm 100% sure spotting targets closer to 10NM is just as hard for us now And i disagree that labels and scaling are just as unrealistic. If the labels were modded to just be dots then maybe it would be comparable , but default labels are way less realistic then scaling. There is absolutely nothing unrealistic about scaling at all , it just provides that necessary visibility that would be realistic.
