You are right , the mig 21 has no playable rival right now. That's becouse developers don't pick what aircraft to make based on balance. Leatherneck is working on an F14 wich i guess is the closest we're going to get to a rival but i'm not even sure how fair that would be. Maybe VEAO is working on something too , since they seem to have every aircraft in existence on their roadmap but that's not something you can rely on. PS : the P51 was in the game for a LONG time before something playable to oppose it was added, and i think the sabre has been in the game for aitleast a year without the mig 15.. though i could be wrong -
I'm sorry for my ignorance but do you mean a 1920x1200 monitor? I also use one of those , why does it make it worse?

Yes i know , that was my point. I'm all for scaling. We (all of us) should be able to see stuff a real fighter pilot would be able to see , even if our eyesight or resolution isnt great. This is a simulator after all , it should simulate the visibility aspect of the whole experience aswell.

I have the same problem in the F15 (well , any FC3 jet) I've had moments where i merged with a bandit , tracked him visually , and just suddenly lose him even though i'm staring right at him. Forget about looking at the hud or anywhere else and then trying to re-acquire him , that's a lost cause all together. I get that this is something you (kind of) get used to if you play enough , but it shouldnt be the case. I'm fine with ground units being hard to spot becouse in real life they're camouflaged and whatnot , and just generally not as "dumb" as in DCS , but in A/A it kills the game experience for me.

This needs to change with EDGE... it is the perfect time... I fear if this wont get adressed in EDGE it never will.. :( I feel like a damn spammer becouse i've been brining this up multiple times in multiple threads but i cant be the only one who realises just how important this is!! We ened to write a letter to the devs or something... or anything to get the devs to acknowledge this problem If scaling gets added they will instantly earn like 200 euros from me in WW2 and korea related sales and i'm sure i'm not the only one staying away from those jets for this very reason. pls dont ban me

That's funny , becouse i find it dumb we can't see stuff that would be clearly visible in real life.

Another question.. does either one of the variants we're getting have a HUD? I mean a modern hud like on the A10 or F15C, or is it just a basic target indicator like let's say the su25a or Mig21? -
I cant wait to fill the RIO role. I'm just gonna play with a real life buddy and switch out on a flight by flight basis , one time i'll be rio , the next flight i'll be doing some of that pilot shit. I may even get this on sale for some friends who dont play flight sims to try and pull them in. As for the OP's question : i'm sure having someone in the back tell you exacly what a bandit is doing (in WVR.. and even in BVR tbh) will be more accurate and detailed then having the AI tell you. That may be for better or worse XD

Is there a big difference in avionics between A and B? All i know is B had better engines and could drop bombs , but i also heard people say A could drop bombs too... I'm so excited for this.. maybe even more excited then F18 becouse of the whole 2 player thing -

I really hope ED realises this , i don't own a single ww2 module yet becouse of this problem. Fighting WVR in the FC3 jets is a pain aswell... If they fix this i will but almost every module that relies on visibility (WW2 birds , korea jets , mig 21 , etc) I really feel like the community should "push" this more so ED can at least acknowledge the problem.. :( It would improve every aspect of the game so much -
Just finished C2,C3 and C4 with a real player wingman , loads of fun! It took quite a few tries but it didn't bother me becouse the formation flight is fun before the fighting starts. If i can make 2 suggestions though : in M3 where you have to escort the mig 21 , the Mig turns really sharply. I dont know if this can be changed but i think setting its waypoints to "turn at point" instead of "fly over point" will fix this. And on C4 the C130 was flying so slow during climb out it was almost impossible to stay in formation with it , even with flaps deployed. These are in no way big problems but may improve the already great missions ever so slightly :) Can't wait to play more.

Like Zeke said the damage model on AI units is terrible. It really ruins some missions wich require you to kill a heavy plane like an AWACS that gets hit by like 3 missiles and then lands on 1 engine with almost no fight control surfaces remaining. If i had a dollar for every AI that cheated death i'd have enough money to highhandedly fund DCS F18 lol

Just finished the first mission (it's called C2M2 an eye for an eye , i assume you changed the name?I must have downloaded it right before you updated your first post.) where you have to intercept mig 21's, enjoyed it very much! I'm pretty new to the f15 and dogfighting in general but managed to do it on the first attempt (single player). It may be somewhat boring of an engagement for people who are used to dogfighting other F15s and SU27s online but for me it was exhilarating! Great work. I really love these "realistic" scenarios where you're not asked to be the fighter pilot equivalent of John Rambo. Going to download the other ones now and play them :) ! EDIT : I just played mission 3 (technically the second on in this thread), I was unable to finish it but i did enjoy it quite alot while it lasted , that mig 21 was great for formation practice (damn those things can turn pretty well O_o.. i wonder if that's just an AI thing becouse i heard that it doesnt turn well at all). I will try it again tomorrow , hopefully in Co-op. On a little side note , the mission crashed my game once due to an out of memory error (i have 8GB ram) , i had to shut down all my background programs like steam and try it again , at wich point it worked fine again. This may be completely unrelated to the mission or it may be becouse of the sound files or something.. i don't really know alot about that kind of stuff , just thought i'd point it out. So far the campaign feels great , and the voice acting , while a little cheesy is really good.

Yes but there are ways to fix that though , by scaling it. it's not cheating if a real pilot would be able to see it in real life at the same distance. But there's enough discussion about that already i don't want to start anything here. :( thanks

I dont think we should base prices for ANY product on what buyers of similar products are willing to pay. That said i do NOT think 60 dollars is too much , but it is definately the absolute max for me. I've always seen 60 dollars as the "standard" price for video games (or 50 euros) -

I prefer to focus on the boom instead of the tanker tbh , i pitch my camera up a little , zoom out a little for better FOV and then i freeze my trackir in that poition. I fly behind the tanker, and slowly creep up to him. When i make contact i focus on the boom and by then i'm all trimmed out for whatever pattern the tanker is flying in at that moment , so then its just a matter of very slight roll inputs and a bunch of throttle control (this is the trickiest part for me) also.. this may sound strange but i find it easyer to refuel off a tanker that's banking. no idea why
