Remembering the controversy when ED introduced the P-51 to DCS. Many scoffed. Seems a bird is a bird to all true flight enthusiasts. No words to describe the feeling. Behold.......

Twin engine management would be an interesting advance in DCS prop aircraft. Might lead to a flyable B17 who knows ? Would be an instant buy for me. Love the P-38.

Trip, that 6DOf Motion platform is just fantastic !! Thanks to guys like you this sim exists. Constructive criticism of modules is a good thing. It's just makes things more real. I'm really interested to hear what people with more knowledge than me have to say. Ultimately we end with a better sim closer to real thing. Man I'd love to have a ride in that rig of yours. I'm in western Canada so it would be a bit of a drive. But a man can dream.

Seems belsimtek got it right with the MiG 15 and Sabre. Great article thanks for posting.

I guess I'm a DCS fanboy but not without good reason. How you look at the price of modules will be probably have a lot to do with your age and how much you are interested in aviation. As a kid, for me, flying a F86 sabre jet or P51 mustang was not something I thought I could ever do. We grew up without PC's and smart phones. We built plastic models of these aircraft and hung them from the ceiling of our bedrooms looking up at them with awe. Back in the day I worked on Data General mini computers that we unloaded off a 5 ton truck with a power tailgate. 64KB of core memory and a 5 MB drive that had 2 16" platters in it. The drive weighed close to 200 lbs. 100 Grand would get you your very own Nova 1200 with a teletype for I/O. Nowadays there is kind of a Tsunami of software and hardware choices and kids growing up today see incredible software daily and still are waiting for something better next month. Attention spans are short and many companies are competing for gamers dollars from every direction. Being a realist I understand that this is a niche market. My biggest fear is that ED will not succeed financially and this type of software will no longer be available to guys like me. I'm not as concerned that a highly detailed aircraft of map module costs $60. As a business man say 10,000 modules at $60 = $600 grand . 10 programmers at say $50 grand a year = $500 grand. Not such a huge profit for so much work is it ? Never mind the continuing support and bug fixes required after the sale. It's all about scale. You either have volume or margin and ideally you have both but that's rarely the case. Yes the modules aren't cheap but I have yet to be disappointed by any of them. Warts and all. I'm like a little kid sometimes just looking around in the air from my cockpit thinking wow this is awsum. I can fly these aircraft to my hearts content for years to come. Compare that to a 1 week vacation to the destination of your choice and see that there is great value here. So I continue to support this company as best I can, when I can. I just hope there's a lot of people like me out there so we can continue to see this fantastic software evolve. So for me. That's what I'm paying for. Saying all that though I can certainly understand that many people won't feel the same way I do and that's just fine.

Extremely erratic fps in VR on high end system
Slap_Chop replied to trigen's topic in Virtual Reality
Came across this Recently. Wortha try maybe ? Somes suggest turning off hyperthreading off in BIOS helps. Others claim Solid State Disk drives help. -
Came across this today. Perhaps OP can try this and report back.

Well I guess I'm gonna take a stab at this. I'm sorry you have this problem and could not find a resolution. I have some outstanding issues also but I'm going to try to put this in perspective. I have lots of games as well but I will tell you that I do not look at DCS the same way I look at AAA titles like battlefield etc. For many of us here this is a flight sim of the type we only could dream of many years ago, and we have seen so much innovation and expansion over the last few years that we realize the coders are on the bleeding edge all the time. We are now seeing the transition from one graphics engine to a new improved engine and at least two versions of the software waiting to be integrated into a third unified version. As well VR is relatively new to DCS and it looks to have a great future although it still needs work. I guess most of us who have been around for a while realize just how clever these guys are and how complex this software has become. We simply expect this is a constant work in progress and accept that there are going to be many bugs introduced and squashed regularly. This is a niche market that we all hope becomes more mainstream (because we love this stuff) which means limited $$ which also means at this time limited resources, manpower and support wise. The rig you are running is one I can only dream of owning at this time but I will tell you I still love this sim running it on less than ideal hardware and can ignore having a stutter here and there because I know eventually as the hardware and software improve over time inevitably I will have the near perfect experience we all would like. I'd like to see you hang in there with us and waste alot of time like we do because we simply love this sim. Perhaps read this post in 12 months and realize that somehow that nasty bug went away like magic. I can't promise you that it will but I can promise you that if you stick with this sim you will find many ways to enjoy it.

Thought Posting the Translation might save users some time. Looks Interesting. Landfill Campaign for ground equipment. DCS World: Combined Arms (shooting range) You have to fire at various targets (units, equipment, armored vehicles, buildings, etc.) at different distances. When weather conditions, day and night. In static and moving targets. Including in motion (for stationary targets). For convenience divided into several parts. 1 - BTR-U MTLB Bohm MTLB, BTR-80 2 - BMD-1, BMP-2, BMP-3 3 - T-55, T-72B, 4 - T-80, T-90, 5 - defense and foreign equipment.

DCS 1.54 Crashes at some point during Instant Action / F-86F /Ground Attack mission Has happened 3 times in a row. Runs for some time before Crash. Nothing consistent I can see except its edObjects.dll that seems to be where the crash occurs. Logs attached

Great Topic Pocket Sized ! That video really nails it SimFreak ! Learned something new today. Cool and thanks. -
Lol. You rock dude ! Great fun to watch. Nice flying. I expect you will succeed soon.

Thanks for the tip ! I tried it and it does work in 1.53 , for the Sabre anyway. This will be useful for me.

This is a heat effect I believe. If you fire the guns continuously the effect simulates the gun barrels warping. Hence the idea is to shoot in short bursts to prevent overheating the gun barrels. Once they overheat they won't shoot straight. Try this on the ground. Taxi over to some target and try your guns there. First do short bursts and then long , say 3 second bursts. See what happens. Restarting the mission should reset the effect. Here is a line from the Mig-15bis.lua file showing they take this into account. name = "HeatEffectExt" , shot_heat = 7.823, barrel_k = 0.462 * 2.7, body_k = 0.462 * 14.3

1.5.2 updater stuck at "Shutting the torrents down"
Slap_Chop replied to SteamingSpoon's topic in Installation Problems
Yes this is happening here as well. I deleted 1.5 without thinking to Install 2.0 excited to test Nevada. I've since gone back and deleted 1.2 and am reinstalling 1.5 to run alongside World 2. I downloaded 1.5 install from the web site using the browser. Now I'm installing the aircraft into 1.5 again. I have 1.5 on C drive and 2.0 on E drive. I noticed the updater now looks to copy what it can from 2.0 to 1.5 , clever idea. It finishes installing and then seems to hang at Shutting the torrents down... INFO : DCS_Updater/2.6.9.43 (Windows NT 6.1.7601; Win64; en-CA) . . . INFO : Installed 531 files. STATUS: Cleaning up... STATUS: Shutting the torrents down... (Takes 10 minutes or more to complete , Appears hung but eventually finishes, Not really a bug, more of a time it takes problem) === Log closed. -

Sublogic flight simulator 1 for Apple II Hard to believe how far we have come with the release of DCS 1.5. In hindsight it would have been a better investment to buy apple stock rather than the computer and the program.

Considering the statistics below I imagine the Luftwaffe had similar problems. Read the full article here http://www.sodahead.com/living/wwii---scary-facts-and-figures-on-air-force-training-and-casualties/question-1776633/
