Same here, (all aircraft I've tried). Pc has to be forced off and restarted. I can only change control inputs from within flight. ..

Have you set the bomb drop quantity multiplier? E G. 01 X 0 = 0. 01 X 1 = 1 etc. ..

It's difficult to not want to use it, if you like making videos. In 2016/17, I made 80 videos involving replays. Mig 21/15, Hawk, Gazelle, Huey, F-86, L-39 and Spitfire. All worked without replay fault. In mid 2017, Mig and Gazelle went bad and so on. It seems to get progressively worse and un-reliable. More recently, the Harrier is playing up, so I would suggest the system has got a lot worse and is unusable and unlikely to be fixed. I'm going to try disabling the stick while watching replays, in case it's providing an input. ..

In my 4th T/O and landing flight since buying the Harrier. Brakes off to 30,000' AGL, was 88secs, passing through at 174 kts TAS, Tacview, so I would say the Harrier looks pretty good against the GR5 times and should allay any fears about it's FM. landing time was 3'.45'', which will easily improve with practice. ..

What a fascinating account, of a detailed, time to height record attempt, with the unique Harrier. Just what I'm looking for. ..
-
I've done brakes off to 30,000' in the F-15 in 57 secs.which is in line with official records, so the Harrier time seems feasible, but without any data it's not possible to tell. So find the data, do the test and then see how it compares. Sounds like an interesting project. ..

That's the ticket! There are some great RAF skins in there, but the one that caught my eye was No. 69A, (now at AMARG), which was included in the full version of the video I provided, so that one is going to be my ride. ..

This thread convinced me to get it, (in the sale). First impressions, in a few minutes of a free flight, is of the stunning quality of the cockpit and airframe. Pity it's not RAF. Maybe a version will be produced? ..

New to DCS, Need Help with Saitek X52 for A10C
Holbeach replied to Cacher's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
OK. I've got my pinkie modifier back. Open profile editor, switch to grid view. Delete the Mode 1 + Pinkie, Mode 2 + Pinkie, Mode 3 + Pinkie. Save the profile with a name and close. Enable the saved profile. Luckily I wrote my A-10C DCS profile on a piece of paper, 7 years ago, so it should be easy to redo. .. -
New to DCS, Need Help with Saitek X52 for A10C
Holbeach replied to Cacher's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
@Cacher "what is the best way to learn them?" I bashed the instant missions, one by one, only moving on when I had got the hang of the particular store, before starting the next. It took about 3 weeks, including setting up the Hotas, which I decided would be almost exactly the same as the real one, with no more added and DCS only configuring. But I still can't figure out how to get the pinky working again, or why it stopped in the first place and it's no good without it. GL.. -
Taming the spitfire with pedals
Holbeach replied to Kiwispirits's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
There is no reason at all why you can't do decent TO/landings with a twist stick. I did all my initial training using the X-52, until I could do it consistently, which took a lot of practice. The first 3 successful landings, I posted on this forum. When I bought pedals, the big difference was the sheer satisfaction of doing the same thing in a realistic manner. Stick, Trackir, pedals. .. -
Thanks for the advice, but I would also like to hear what he had to say about the collective effect. ..

Mt Elbrus rescue should be interesting. Can't wait. ..

When you turn the SAS off, it still has an influence, but at a reduced rate. (it shouldn't but it does). When you turn the gyro off, all influence is removed. (It shouldn't work like that, but it does) and the helicopter is now in its natural state, with only pilot influence. With regard to the autorotation, the peddles are disabled and can't be used and I deliberately killed the rotor energy on the descent, so it's not a standard autorotation. I had to keep the speed up for a skid landing to prevent a yaw on the flare. Not very pretty, but we all walked away. (That part has nothing to do with the thread, but is only part of a larger video I'm doing). ..

DCS, Gazelle, using collective to roll inverted. Polychop have recently added this effect to the FM, whereby a rolling motion is introduced when the collective is used. This is what happens with the SAS and gyro turned off. No other controls are used to make the roll or remain inverted. An autorotate is performed with low rotor energy, without using the rudder and minimal use of the collective. Version 1.5.7.11762. (Note. The second part of this vid is only me practicing autorotation) ..

Conclusion. No SAS, no gyro, no trim, stick centered, rudder centered, flight straight and level, hands off. The only change I found with the updated FM so far, is with this rather curious rock and roll effect that the collective has. Down will produce a roll to the right and up, a roll to the left, if done fast enough. If you travel S&L at a fast speed and lower the collective with all controls centered, a complete 360 deg roll will occur, level off, add power, then carry on. If at the 180 deg point you raise the collective slightly, you will now be in a stable inverted condition. The engine will cut out, but you will have full control including hands off. Not of much practical use, but what we don't want is one more method to perform an unnatural act. Roll or loop upright, then perform an autorotation and land without further damage. ..

The facts, not emotional outburst, reproduced for clarity. Some Gazelle FM changes have been made, so here are my findings from before (1.5.7.101) and after (1.5.7.10872), testing, using a template I fly after every update. Attitude - pitch /roll, 0/0, no SAS, no gyro, no trim, stick centered, rudder centered, flight straight and level, hands off. ..........................BEFORE............ AFTER Speed @ 0 pitch = 69 kts...............65 kts " , -1 deg. speed = 82 kts............... " , -2 deg speed = 94kts................98 kts " , -3 deg speed = 98 kts...............100 kts " , -4 deg speed = 106 kts.............109 kts " , -5 deg speed = 114 kts.............111 kts BEFORE Direction, pitch/bank, will remain constant, even if you pull collective repeatedly, top to bottom. Rudder not used at any time. All conditions remaining the same. AFTER Collective down will produce a roll to the right. Collective up, a roll to the left, but used gently, no roll is produced and direction pitch/bank remain the same. Collective dropped quickly top to bottom at high speed and a complete 360 roll is produced, engine might cut out, recover upright and do an auto-rotation with no damage. INVERTED FLIGHT Before. Roll inverted @ 10,000', perform left and right rudder turns, 360 left and right rolls, forward and backward loops, hands off stable descent to 1,000' and land normal without damage. After. All the same except engine cuts soon after becoming inverted and an auto rotation is performed without damage. TRANSLATIONAL LIFT Lift off and accelerate to 60 kts in a straight line without using the cyclic or trim. None detected, before or after. Roll/bank remain constant at 0/0. Lift off, travel to a rooftop, land, lift off and travel back to starting point, without using cyclic or trim. Before and after, same. Hover at 1,000', drop collective fully and rapidly, descend vertically, needle off clock, at 10' pull collective and land without using stick (or with stick, if you prefer). Before and after, same. That's the story so far. No conclusions are drawn. ..

Holbeach, thanks for the alternate viewpoint on the RN-28, are there included standalone or campaign missions that are based around delivering it? I think the Mig-21 is outstanding, but I only use it for ground attack. You're missing out if you don't get it. I can't use the RN-24, as I get destroyed with the target, (about the same time Magnitude took over), but the RN-28 is still usable. I only ever use my own missions. Here's one for the RN-28. no ASP required. ..

Mig-21, my most used aircraft. RN-24/28, my most used weapon. Both excellent, when used with imagination. 24 not usable due to a bug (for me), but 28 still OK. Control panel graphic not working, but usable. Version 1.5.7.101. SP ..

This applies to pretty much all prop aircraft. ..

I will be looking forward to trying it out. ..

@ Fragbum. Would you mind specifying which version you are in, as you never mentioned it in your OP. I am in 1.5.7 10175. release version, not 2.1 alpha. ..
