Wow! Thanks for the insight. Excellent cockpit. Regards..

That top rotary looks nice. Both of mine have a blank spot in exactly the same place. Would you mind going into more detail on how you did all this. ..

I haven't flown the Gazelle for a long time, but I can still: take off, travel to a destination and land on a flat roof, with the gyro and AP off. All without using the cyclic. This involves hard use of the pedals and collective. This simply can't be done with the helicopter remaining upright and stable in RL. ..

Copied from another thread on the same subject: We are some IRL Gazelle pilots or former Gazelle pilots in contact with Polychop. I made a test flight with Polychop in Fall 2018 because I had a lot of complaints against the FM (I am helo instructor in the French Air Force and I learnt to fly helos on the Gazelle 15 years ago). Since my test flight, I have asked some Gazelle pilots to join me in order to help Polychop to recode the FM of the DCS Gazelle. I am so much disappointed about that FM... Polychop guys are aware about the issues on the FM... ... and my little finger tells me that they are probably working again on the FM... ..

Glad you got it sorted. It's a common fault and sometimes another update will cure it. luckily it's easily rectified, if you know how. Regards..

Try this. No. 6 is the pinkie. You have to assign it in the Saitek programmer before it will work in DCS. Open profile editor, switch to grid view. Delete the Mode 1 + Pinkie, Mode 2 + Pinkie, Mode 3 + Pinkie. Save the profile with a name and close. Enable the saved profile for DCS. This will enable your pinkey to be used as a modifier in DCS. (It sometimes gets corrupted with updates). ..

OK, I get you. Centred in windows and out in pitch in DCS. Mine was the the same. I close the game, pull the X52 plug out and in and restart DCS. It resets itself. I never start the pc with the plug in, as it is usually off centre. ..

Plug in X 52. Control panel/view devices and printers/ right click X 52 icon/game control settings/Properties. Then calibrate. I do it every time I use it. ..

"I saw that max seperation in the vid was about 16km? What has been your best max seperation that you have achieved, do you know?" Yes. Testing with drones, show the boundary to be 12 nm. By pure coincidence, this bomb stopped working correctly when Magnitude took over and by pure coincidence, I have another video to illustrate, which includes ground destructive distances of US equipment and no vertical destruction before that takeover. . ..
-
@Holbeach Have you tried staying at altitude and turning off-axis (or split-S and carry on in direction of ingress whilst bomb flies "over the shoulder") on egress? The bomb is chasing (travelling laterally in the same direction as your escape) you in the video and you spend time and distance by hitting the deck on the way out. You're faster up high and the bomb is, again, following you down. And vertically slanted flightpath takes longer to cover more ground distance, it can add up. The only other option is high alt level bombing. . The profile I'm flying is taken directly from the Mig 21 manual. Dive at 30 deg to increase speed. The US uses 45 deg. The big giveaway, is the instantaneous destruction, which is impossible. In fact at this distance, 7 nm, the jet is actually flying faster than the pressure wave and is therefore outrunning it. 10 km is the manuals safe distance requirement. " The only other option is high alt level bombing" Do you mean, like this. And, yes, I did try various directions of exit, but you can't beat instant bug death. ..
-
Like this, you mean. 10 km is the official safe distance required. ..

240 kts IAS at 24000' is 355 kts True airspeed, but the ASI is in MPH I got 280 MPH at 16 lb boost, which is 414 mph true airspeed. ..

Thanks. That's the idea. It will suit the Ka-50 well and the Gazelle. I need to work on my fast landings, so I will be doing a FARP hop, with the HUEY. ..

I've answered some of your questions in the previous post. It suits me perfectly as it is, but I don't think it's for you. ..

2.5 slalom Route guide video. This is not a competition or race. No points to earn. It is meant to be a training aid, to improve handling skills, by working to a discipline. Suitable for Gazelle, Huey or Ka-50. My timing and criteria, are there for comparison. Timing is by debrief. Height restriction is by wires. The route has to be learnt. Run it slowly and build up, it's all part of the fun. This will take time, but anybody who flew the 1.5 version, should have no trouble. It is almost the same. No quick gratification here. The route can be shortened, hence the FARPS. Lastly. It's not a race. (unless you want it to be). Follow the containers or oil derricks. No height restriction, but pass under the wires. Don't take short cuts. Don't have warning alarms. There's a long straight to build up speed, then a start of gentle curves getting tighter. A moderate climb, followed by a 145kt descent. Then a flat out valley floor run, followed by a horrible steep ascent. Follow the derricks through the trees and around the high FARP. Descend to the low FARP and on to the final landing, which must be on the pad in front of and facing the crowd. Good Luck. Replays work 100%. Min 60 fps. No stutters. 100% trees and foliage. 2 MSAA 1.5 SSAA. The hardest part, is this steep descent under the lines. Phew. :fear: .. Mountain power lines 2.5 .miz
-
Because of the large amount of trees present in 2.5, the route is difficult to follow, I've been waiting for a guide video to upload, (it takes all night). I'll put it up today. ..
-
Power line survey. Updated for 2.5. This is an evolution of a mission, designed to improve Huey handling skills. It is based on a power line inspection, start to finish, except that you have to do it under the lines. Changes are: Some container, route guides, have been replaced with Oil Derricks, in the tree areas, to become visible. There is no height restriction, but wires must be passed underneath. Follow the route guides and land at the last FARP on the pad in front of the crowd. It is difficult to follow, so I provide a video to help. Don't tell me it's not realistic. Of course it's nor realistic! Those with a weak heart, should not attempt this.
-
I've nearly finished updating this, Power Line Survey, for 2.5, so that the route markers are not obscured by the trees. The terrain is now smoother, so I've adjusted a few things so it's not too easy. The whole thing looks much better now and more interesting. Best time so far during testing with the Huey is 6.58. (Replay failed for a video guide). New video route guide to follow. Either a 7.25 min with good but slow final landing. Or, 6.52 min (my fastest), with mediocre but faster landing.. ..

Huey and landing! Where are those experts pilot with quick landing :)
Holbeach replied to Frag's topic in DCS: UH-1H
@ Fragbum RL Huey has a demonstrated skid landing speed of 60kt. so you're not far off with that one. .. -
Huey and landing! Where are those experts pilot with quick landing :)
Holbeach replied to Frag's topic in DCS: UH-1H
@ Frag. That training mission, designed to hone NOE handling skills, is very difficult to achieve, but Pensoon has made it a work of art. He also has a Ka-50 version and a 2.5 version. .. -

Huey and landing! Where are those experts pilot with quick landing :)
Holbeach replied to Frag's topic in DCS: UH-1H
After seeing this thread, I decided to dig out the Huey and try this manoeuvre at 53.30, as used by the Chinook in Afghanistan, as a run in for a quick landing. The, nose down 270 quick stop. I'm still working on it.. .. -
Thanks. That was my training scenario and is a lot easier to accomplish than it looks. This, on the other hand, was much more difficult, but very rewarding. Piloting and firing the gun, from the Huey gunner position. First a group of enemy vehicles have to be cleared from the woods near an old FARP and a Huey with side gunners has been given the job of clearance. I didn't get them all as they are difficult to spot in the trees, you need to get low to get 'em, then move to the second convoy group moving through the trees. ..
-
If you want some real fun, fly the helicopter manually from the gunner position and aim with the Trackir using the stitch/hosing method. ..
