Like this, you mean. 10 km is the official safe distance required. ..
  2. 240 kts IAS at 24000' is 355 kts True airspeed, but the ASI is in MPH I got 280 MPH at 16 lb boost, which is 414 mph true airspeed. ..
  3. Thanks. That's the idea. It will suit the Ka-50 well and the Gazelle. I need to work on my fast landings, so I will be doing a FARP hop, with the HUEY. ..
  4. I've answered some of your questions in the previous post. It suits me perfectly as it is, but I don't think it's for you. ..
  5. 2.5 slalom Route guide video. This is not a competition or race. No points to earn. It is meant to be a training aid, to improve handling skills, by working to a discipline. Suitable for Gazelle, Huey or Ka-50. My timing and criteria, are there for comparison. Timing is by debrief. Height restriction is by wires. The route has to be learnt. Run it slowly and build up, it's all part of the fun. This will take time, but anybody who flew the 1.5 version, should have no trouble. It is almost the same. No quick gratification here. The route can be shortened, hence the FARPS. Lastly. It's not a race. (unless you want it to be). Follow the containers or oil derricks. No height restriction, but pass under the wires. Don't take short cuts. Don't have warning alarms. There's a long straight to build up speed, then a start of gentle curves getting tighter. A moderate climb, followed by a 145kt descent. Then a flat out valley floor run, followed by a horrible steep ascent. Follow the derricks through the trees and around the high FARP. Descend to the low FARP and on to the final landing, which must be on the pad in front of and facing the crowd. Good Luck. Replays work 100%. Min 60 fps. No stutters. 100% trees and foliage. 2 MSAA 1.5 SSAA. The hardest part, is this steep descent under the lines. Phew. :fear: .. Mountain power lines 2.5 .miz
  6. Because of the large amount of trees present in 2.5, the route is difficult to follow, I've been waiting for a guide video to upload, (it takes all night). I'll put it up today. ..
  7. Power line survey. Updated for 2.5. This is an evolution of a mission, designed to improve Huey handling skills. It is based on a power line inspection, start to finish, except that you have to do it under the lines. Changes are: Some container, route guides, have been replaced with Oil Derricks, in the tree areas, to become visible. There is no height restriction, but wires must be passed underneath. Follow the route guides and land at the last FARP on the pad in front of the crowd. It is difficult to follow, so I provide a video to help. Don't tell me it's not realistic. Of course it's nor realistic! Those with a weak heart, should not attempt this.
  8. I've nearly finished updating this, Power Line Survey, for 2.5, so that the route markers are not obscured by the trees. The terrain is now smoother, so I've adjusted a few things so it's not too easy. The whole thing looks much better now and more interesting. Best time so far during testing with the Huey is 6.58. (Replay failed for a video guide). New video route guide to follow. Either a 7.25 min with good but slow final landing. Or, 6.52 min (my fastest), with mediocre but faster landing.. ..
  9. @ Fragbum RL Huey has a demonstrated skid landing speed of 60kt. so you're not far off with that one. ..
  10. @ Frag. That training mission, designed to hone NOE handling skills, is very difficult to achieve, but Pensoon has made it a work of art. He also has a Ka-50 version and a 2.5 version. ..
  11. There's a nice 270 Huey landing, at the end of this vid. by Penshoon.. ..
  12. After seeing this thread, I decided to dig out the Huey and try this manoeuvre at 53.30, as used by the Chinook in Afghanistan, as a run in for a quick landing. The, nose down 270 quick stop. I'm still working on it.. ..
  13. Thanks. That was my training scenario and is a lot easier to accomplish than it looks. This, on the other hand, was much more difficult, but very rewarding. Piloting and firing the gun, from the Huey gunner position. First a group of enemy vehicles have to be cleared from the woods near an old FARP and a Huey with side gunners has been given the job of clearance. I didn't get them all as they are difficult to spot in the trees, you need to get low to get 'em, then move to the second convoy group moving through the trees. ..
  14. If you want some real fun, fly the helicopter manually from the gunner position and aim with the Trackir using the stitch/hosing method. ..
  15. I recently spent 2 weeks, using a mission with the Harrier, trying to track down an intermittent fault in my GTX 970, which kept crashing to a black screen (with sound). The fault turned out to be nothing to do with the card (it was perfectly OK), but I had already bought an EGVA GTX 1070 to replace it, so a comparison using the same mission, was now available. Default high settings plus 1.5 SSAA. Vert sync fast. Kutaisi/Kvitiri. Attack ground targets and helos in mountains, return for vert landing. On runway. 970 - 30 fps. 1070 - 74 fps. GPU 100%. Over target 40 fps 70 fps At height 70 fps 120 fps The 1070 registered 6890 Vram 6050 RAM 17900 page file. No stuttering. The 970 was always on the ceiling with both. The 970 was perfectly OK for my single missions, but the 1070 is clearly more capable and I'm very pleased with it. ..
  16. Last time I tested SA-3 on July 10 2017, max detection alt was 6000m. ..
  17. You might find a log of this event in C/Program data/NVIDEA. ..
  18. The original Lock On A10A, had 6 training missions, which I am surprised to find, still work, but no specific training manual. I guess they were too old to upgrade to DCS standard. ..
  19. I don't have OB, but if it's anything like this Stennis at 15 kt, with the ugly spotlight beam wake, removed, I'll be happy. ..
  20. 85 deg, is close to fry up time. My, 7 yo, use to run low 80s, when OC, with the occasional shut down if a speck of dust landed on it. A new cooler (30 quid) immediately reduced temp by 15 deg. Regular vacuum with fan removed, is essential, even with case filters. Check fan is actually increasing correctly, with Asus history record. Today @ 3.8, my temp is 55 deg, running Harrier and room temp 23 deg. GPU same temp. Cooler is the key. Regards..
  21. I ended up removing the stern wake entirely, in the cfg, just leaving the bow wake. I would rather have no wake, than a bad wake. ..
  22. It's been discussed here. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=216744 ..
  23. A few more points:- The P-51 manual states that fuel is supplied in all flying conditions. The plot thickens. Incidentally, if you continue the glide in the Spit, inverted at about 2000 rpm, after the fuel has run out, the oil pressure will increase gradually to max, off the scale. RR state that, the engine will run without oil pressure for some time, relying on residual oil in the bearing caps, before failure. This will have been tested many times after battle damage, with pilots squeezing a few more miles towards home. For the Mustang, oil pressure below 50 lb is not permitted and Mk9 30 lb. so maybe the fuel starvation problem, is assumed never to be reached. The only thing that is certain. Oil pressure will drop in negative G. ..
  24. Apart from Bunyaps profile, I've been using one from 73 Squadron, (Italy/Balkans) 1944. 4/6 aircraft. Approach target at 10,000' AGL and run it along port cannon until it emerges behind wing. Pull up and roll onto target will give a 60 deg dive. Release bombs, (2 x 250 or 2 x 250 + 1 x 500 lb) at 4,000' AGL. If flak is heavy, dive to ground to escape. Go strafe. If flak is light, zoom to altitude and provide top cover. I've been using a bridge with approaching convoy, to practice bombing and strafing. Return to base. Rearm. ..
