  1. Sure, it’s just the “step ladder” you follow out of sheer necessity in real life has very little relevance or meaning in a game. I would find it really funny if I ever took real life flying lessons because what I’ve learned over the years of sim playing is so “out of sequence”. Like taking a class you already sat through pieces of. But that’s n not my goal here. This is a game. Well sorta. I don’t have any of these but I assume they don’t have defensive systems and really limited weapons. They could be used effectively against unarmed insurgents or something but that’s probably all. Define “bad”? Ok so just crash and burn until you get it right. It’s just a game. In the real world no novice pilot would just go straight to a P-51 to learn how to fly. This isn’t real. My first “flight training” was in WWI sim crates and I crashed a lot
  2. That’s true of the modern 4th Gen stuff in DCS but not other combat modules like the F-86. Such things are not just the realm of “trainers” per se. And the WWII birds offer some very challenging flight training. Honestly I get the impression that the trainers in DCS are really the realm of the avid players who simply want lots of modules, not necessarily beginners. Those people will just go straight for the aircraft that interests them.
  3. But if anyone wants to train and fly together they can do that in any module. A dual cockpit trainer isn’t necessary. Sharing screens on Discord works really well. I’ve shown DCS to many people in person and done practice with others online and truthfully all of them want to fly the plane. Nobody I know would want to just ride around as a trainee When I got the A-10C on sale many years ago, I knew completely nothing about aircraft. Zero. Yeah I didn’t know what flaps were for or my HSI from my ADI But it’s all there for you to read about in the manual or the multitude of tutorial videos and such. The trouble with getting a trainer module is that it’s simply another aircraft to learn. So it’s not a good use of time IMO. All those things mentioned above can be learned in one of the combat aircraft. And in a combat game like this most players are probably interested in that first and stuff like flying patterns later. Again this isn’t real life so you can approach this in any way you like.
  4. DCS: F/A-18C by Eagle Dynamics Fixed: Damage model - Pilot cannot survive any explosive hit. Thank you!
  5. In a game you can be your own instructor You can literally teach yourself all this stuff. Again there are no consequences for getting it wrong. Just try again. This isn’t costing you real money or putting you in any danger. It’s just a game. I do find it rather rewarding in sims that if they are realistic enough you can just go to the real world training films or whatever and learn from those and it works here. The idea of needing a human instructor for a video game seems a bit laughable.
  6. You can learn “proper flying” in an A-10, P-47 or an F-18. There’s little a trainer aircraft offers that you can’t experience in any of the models. Real life concerns like safety and cost don’t exist in a game.
  7. Not sure what that means. Real life flying involves many aspects that just aren’t simulated in any game. But there are also universal aspect to flying that can be taught in any simulator. DCS can teach some of these things in any of the aircraft. In fact this sim has been used for RL training to some degree. PS when writing in English (any western language?) it’s correct to put a space after commas, and two spaces after a period. Like this.
  8. It should be obvious, you don’t need a trainer aircraft in a game. This isn’t real life with real life consequences for your actions. Feel free to screw up as much as you like
  9. I am definitely not an expert at any of this so I’ll refrain from giving out any actual advice and just relate my own experience with the a 14900KS. All the tech support I received was through my PC vendor. My first 14900KS was purchased in April of 2024 and by July has started to exhibit repeated CTDs. I was able to solve this problem by updating the BIOS which likely included those fixes above. By the end of July just a few weeks later, I became aware of the widespread degradation issue with the 13 and 14 series chips. By mid-August a “microcode” fix was put out for my MB to halt the degradation problem. Afaik it did things like enforce the Intel defaults and disable the Multi-Core Enhancement feature of the MB. If going in and tinkering with the BIOS seems intimidating, updating the whole thing is rather easy. Some MB utilities can do this from Windows. Now the 14900KS is repeatedly crashing again and a BIOS update doesn’t solve this. From looking that that timeline above it seems pretty clear that the chip could have been damaged between April and July. I can only guess how these things behave when damaged varies a lot. It still shows very good (even better) performance on benchmarks and the games run very well until just quitting. My previous 13900K did exhibit noticeable performance drops but never crashed. At this point I just plan to replace the 14900KS with another one as the microcode fix supposedly resolved the degradation issue.
  10. @Istari6 Are you getting continual CTDs when using a 14th Gen Intel CPU? This is happening to me and it might be likely due to the CPU degrading prior to the microcode fix last year. I’m looking to just replace it. Are other games crashing too? Have you tried updating your BIOS?
  11. It doesn’t look like there are too many easy solutions here. How about a power brick for your GPU? https://medium.com/@noahbean3396/the-rtx-5090-power-connector-controversy-another-generation-another-meltdown-c9863b93b64d No wonder it’s such a small improvement over the prior generation. It looks like it’s at the limit of what the current power ecosystem can handle.
  12. I thought they can use both types?
  13. TL;DW all these videos. How many 12V-2x6 connectors have actually failed? Or is this just theoretical? The 12VHPWR have definitely melted. Apparently some of the newer 4090s are made to accept the 12V-2x6 but you probably have to remove the cooler plate to find out. https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/gpus/not-all-rtx-40-series-super-gpus-use-the-new-12v-2x6-connector-new-images-of-16-pin-h-power-connector-emerge
  14. There are plenty of good uses for a burned out 4090. This one is still working perfectly
  15. I actually had my slider all the way to the max level without any problems. Although I don't see anything different now that I lowered it to the normal preset of 60,000. Of course that’s with 64GB of memory.
  16. Oh does that actually work? My experience with Nvidia has been that their AA settings in the Control Panel didn’t seem to have any effect.
  17. I would turn on Anti-aliasing. That will get rid of the “sparkly jagged” look. I don’t think DLSS works with AMD graphics cards. Nor DLAA. If you’re getting 100 FPS you could afford to lose some frames in order to get the smoother image MSAA anti-aliasing will provide. Also turn on Anisotropic Filtering.
  18. Stil crashed with HT Off
  19. It would sure seem to be the best move for anyone getting this card to use the 12V-2x6 connector. Not the 12VHPWR https://www.corsair.com/ww/en/explorer/diy-builder/power-supply-units/evolving-standards-12vhpwr-and-12v-2x6/
  20. Agree. That would be a super addition to the WWII roster.
  21. Pardon my snarkyness Personally I try not to get too excited about new stuff coming to DCS that’s going to be years in the making.
  22. Yeah I saw that. Anything is worth trying at this point. My own tech support is out of ideas, the CPU and Mobo really just need to be replaced. But if something can hold me over until the end of March I see there’s some new X3D chips coming. Yep that’s what’s happening here. The 13900 didn’t crash, it just started performing really bad. This one performs really well until it just quits
  23. I wonder if that's the problem, despite the BIOS fix. The benchmark scores for the 14900 are still good. When the 13900 went boom I could see it in the scores.
  24. Oh I did that one already back when the degradation thing happened. The BIOS default now turns off the Asus MC enhancement and runs the Intel settings.
