I could care less about my Operating System. Why some people have such an affliction over this is beyond me. You’re so worried about your computer spying on you? Don’t own one. Solved. No company is going to grant your wish by chasing <2% of the market.

Don’t you think that’s a little farfetched? Just stay off your computer or the internet if you’re so worried about this stuff. But such paranoia isn’t something for ED to worry about. If 98% of their customers are using Windows then that’s what the game is going to run on. If you don’t like that don’t play the game.

It’s not. Thinking this is just delusional, so it grew from like .5% to 1.8% over six years according to that link above And ED doesn’t set the market, they just follow it. If DCS had a large enough customer base to make this compatibility worthwhile they’d do it. But I can’t fathom there are enough to make this feasible. Except they wouldn’t because most people want their PC to do more than just run a tiny selection of software and games. What crashes? I don’t have incessant crashes. Sounds like a hardware problem and not Windows. Also Linux would be vastly more problematic to troubleshoot or support since there are many less people who understand and use it. More delusional paranoia Also it’s “Linux” with a capital L. If you’re going to be such a fan at least write the name correctly.

Except they don’t literally do that. Paranoid much? And you can just turn that off if you like. Again the number of people who would actually use this is so small it hardly seems worthwhile. I’d rather ED keep its limited resources focused on features that the majority of players will actually benefit from. Chasing a sub 2% market looks like a waste of time and money.

Most users have nothing to hide about their online activity. I can only speculate why this is so worrying to some people Personal accounts are still secure regardless or at least as much as you can expect about anything online. It’s been sub 2% for eons. No chance unless somehow this compatibility is a near zero cost effort. This looks like it would basically make your PC into a game console, not something that would replace Windows. Most people want their machine to do things besides just play games.

Yes although it’s very cool to see progress on this I don’t think it’s what most people expected. This just seems like a limited mission editor feature. What people really want is the ability to save and resume games like DLC campaign missions and such.

I don’t see any performance trouble on my machine. Not worth compromising security for. I’m already running games at 4K Ultra and 120Hz. So why bother? One of those Asus tweaking utilities was asking to turn it off. But no for me.

I just did a clean re-install of W11. No trouble with DCS. Make sure all your drivers get reinstalled properly. I’m no expert at this but my MB utility (Asus Armory Crate) does this nicely.

What’s always disappointing to me with these high-end throttles is they try to emulate the actual ones and the result is they don’t have enough buttons on them. And if anyone flies different aircraft why would you want a Hornet specific device? Real aircraft don’t need a zoom view axis and such. Like I don’t have a use for all the switches and knobs for the side panel. And no use for dual throttles. I just want more buttons on the handle itself where they’re more useful. I’ll just keep the CH forever

This seems plausible but I can’t tell any difference when trying this. It always seems smooth to me regardless. If anything I can perceive the lower frame rate at 60 vs the higher 117 I have capped on my screen.

This seems to indicate the trouble is with the TrackClip Pro. I use the TrackClip with no troubles. Never tried the Pro however. It might be worth just replacing it since it’s not very expensive.

Check out this thread. It looks like DCS currently doesn’t assign cores to these CPUs correctly. Have you tried disabling this overclocking? Maybe it’s not a factor but worth trying. My screen has a similar feature I sorta recall something odd when using that.

If you’re experiencing constant crashes (in every game including DCS) with a 13-14th gen Intel desktop CPU. And you used it before the BIOS microcode fix last year or haven’t updated that. I think there’s a good possibility that your chip has degraded. I’ve had that happen to both a 13900K and 14900KS. Disabling hyper-threading did nothing to resolve the problem. Only replacing the CPU fixed it. The available info I see about these and from speaking to my PC vendor, these are still very good CPUs though now that the fix is out.

From this topic I gather PL is only needed if you’re running Windows 10 with an Intel hybrid CPU or perhaps other special circumstances. With W11 DCS should handle this correctly.

I guess it would depend on the settings and resolution. For my system below, running on a 4K monitor with all the highest settings and +/- 120Hz I am currently GPU limited according to the DCS indicator. As I understand it since DCS uses hyper-threading it will use as many CPU cores as you have.

I’ve always thought about DCS this way. The aircraft themselves are the game. In other games, the game is the game. You buy a game for $70-$90 and get maybe 40 hours of entertainment out of it. Then go on and buy another one. A DCS module costs about as much but you end up getting hundreds of hours out of it. It’s not just the missions or campaigns that are the entertainment, it’s the aircraft itself. DCS is different in that way. In fact I think flight sims have actually saved me money on my gaming budget. Like again a $20 A-10 module has got me hundreds of hours of gameplay instead of buying a $70 game every few weeks.

Digesting one of these modules takes a very long time. In all likelihood even when you buy lots of them that cost is spread over many years. I’ve been playing DCS for 13 years and there are only four modern aircraft I’ve learned completely.

I started DCS 13 years ago with the A-10C on a Steam sale for $20. That money represents the greatest entertainment value of all time

Just bumping this 7 year old thread. It’s about time to bring DCS into the current decade! It’s looking really dull compared to most every other game now…

Yes I also use JoyToKey and it works really well. I even managed to get it to do the dual stage trigger.
