If the pixel density setting affects the dot size then the whole idea of trying to make these equal across headsets seems like sheer folly. There is such a variety of possible resolutions and HMDs

It’s the first question answered here. This isn’t hard to believe, just look at the paltry numbers online.

Well besides being against the rules constant comparisons to other games preclude DCS coming up with something better, merely imitating something else isn’t necessarily the best solution. Games made by unpaid modders are certainly not a fair comparison. ED has said this themselves many times. 90% of the players have never been online. That’s not hard to believe. I really hope the few players you ever see on the servers aren’t the majority that own the game.

Are the dots simply based upon the native resolution of the headsets or do they account for pixel density settings? If they try to use the pixel density setting it seems there would be no way to account for all the possible variations.

DCS is always getting these unfair comparisons to old games which were probably 40x easier to make decades ago. I’m pretty sure a single module today is more work than an entire game was back then.

I notice this too

TOP 5 things I'd like to see for 2025!!!

The idea of purpose I think was a very good point. And its relation to a Dynamic Campaign. I sometimes wonder if what keeps flight sims like this such a niche genre is that players shy away from them figuring all they offer is shallow quick missions or limited campaigns that don’t justify the time spend learning aircraft or investments in hardware. A very important feature that needs to accompany this is a game save function. Without this such in-depth gameplay doesn’t have much purpose since it’s not approachable to a market beyond the retired and unemployed. To me those would be the most important things the game could add. -
FOV is another reason for needing the variable zoom view. The “life sized” FOV of your screen would be too narrow to be practical. Some racing sim players like that but it wouldn’t be too good for flight sims where you need to look around a lot. Plus they’re probably using triple screens. These discussions seem to reveal that many players have very poor eyesight. If they think their screen looks like reality. That means their real eyesight isn’t any better than their display.

It is actually a monitor and probably the largest size you could place on a desktop and not have it sit too high. But it works great. I have it at the far side of a desk against the wall and not right up close. -
I notice you’re seeing these big dots at 30 miles. That’s crazy

I’m using this for gaming and similar CAD and drawing work. It’s fantastic! Every so often it goes on sale for half this price. https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-48gq900-b-gaming-monitor
