I don't have a strong opinion either way but I'd prefer the devs just work on completing the core stuff.
-
Thanks, Vibora. And thanks to the team for all the updates. Module is really shaping up. :)
-
fyi, I find requesting about 33% gives you a little under half.
-
^ Ah, the joys of development. I can empathize. So, will the fuel loading never end just if you request more than 97% or is it in all cases?
-
what exactly is your beef?

A lot of interesting stuff in this weeks update ... DCS C-101 by AvioDev - Improved textures of cockpit structure and front panel - Fixed canopy textures - Fixed pilot textures - All liveries are now also accessible to users that do not own the module - Fixed engine failure due to ice accretion - Added the following failures: - Engine flameout with relight - Engine flameout without relight - Engine anti-ice failure - Chip in oil (including engine damage accumulation if engine is mishandled) - GS and LOC signal failures - VOR, TACAN, DME, ADF and radio altimeter failures - Pitch trim runaway - Nose up - Pitch trim runaway - Nose down - Control stick pitch trim switch failure - Control stick aileron trim switch failure - Rudder trim failure - Left gear extension fault - Left gear retraction fault - Right gear extension fault - Right gear retraction fault - Nose gear extension fault - Nose gear retraction fault - Flaps fault - Front and rear cockpits synchronization in multiplayer (multicrew): - Fixed dc bus tie and engine anti-ice syncs - Added fuel valve, submerged pump and fuselage fuel quantity syncs - Added partially functioning transfer pumps and start-up sequence syncs - Fixed fuel pumps synchronization - Fixed refueling on ground (Still WIP, can only refuel up to 97% and cannot defuel)

There are combined VOR/DMEs on some maps but I guess they're not implemented in DCS World. There are also some VORTACs that work fine and give bearing, course, and DME info.

Good to hear as it's no longer indestructible.

Well, of course I'm going to say the C-101 but I'm a bit of a fanboi. :) But I don't own the L-39 so I can't really fairly compare them. That being said, I agree with Rudel that the L-39 is certainly more complete and polished. The external model texture seem a little nicer with the bump mapping and light reflection. The cockpit looks good but a little too clean and new but I really haven't taken a hard look at it. Also, the L-39, from what I hear has more pep. The C-101, however, has a much longer range, double the weapons load-out, and is a little more versatile with the anti-ship missiles (although these are a little restricted right now). And I think the navigation suite is a little more useful with the current map set (TACAN, VOR, ADF, ILS). The C-101 has a nice external model but could use a bit of love to bring it up to the same level as the L-39. And I love the C-101 cockpit but think maybe the worn texturing is a little overdone. The gauge lighting is superb though!

+1. I mean, it's a nice gesture giving customers a little more but I think this is better.

What have you done that real pilots can't or don't Do?
kontiuka replied to FlankerMan's topic in Chit-Chat
Pretty much everything I do wouldn't be done by a real pilot. -
I think whatever is in the Mods folder is what someone who has the module can see. And what is in the CoreMods folder is what everyone can see. I don't really get why only some of the liveries are in the CoreMods folder. Specifically, AVIODEV Skin CLAEX Desert Camu Skin - Centro Logistico de Armamento y Experimentacion CLAEX Green Camu Skin - Centro Logistico de Armamento y Experimentacion Honduras - Air Force Comayagua Coronel Jose Enrique Soto Cano Air Base Skin 1 I Brigada Aerea - Grupo de Aviacion N.1 A-36 HALCON Was that intentional to give someone who owns the module more skins?

already reported. you can rearm but don't touch the fuel slider or you'll be stuck.
-
I'd say that's probably a bug.

The trim system (compensator) is connected to the air brake system. When you deploy the airbrake, the aircraft wants to pitch the nose up. So, the trim system trims the nose down to compensate. After you deploy airbrakes, you have to make sure to return the airbrake button on your joystick to the centre (neutral) position or the trim system will continue to trim the nose down. The same is true when retracting the airbrake except the trim system will continue to trim the nose up. This is how it works in the real aircraft. When you open the emergency trim (compensator) guard, the link between airbrake and trim is temporarily broken.

Nice. A couple of questions. Just did a quick read to see what can cause compressor stall ... - foreign object damage such as bird strikes - engine mismanagement - extreme maneuvering - engine icing - poor maintenance Does the simulation take any of these into account (other than maintenance)? Also, will chip detection eventually lead to an engine seizure?
-
Cool. What causes an engine flameout? Too high an AoA for too long? Does assisted airstart = windmill start?
-
DCS C-101 by AvioDev - Engine seizure after some time with low oil pressure or mishandling in that condition. <-- Nice! - Improved pilot liveries for default skin. - Added kneeboard to pilot model. - Altimeter indication freeze if pitot tube and static ports are blocked. - Changed name: Gunsight lamps failure.
-
Canadian Snowbirds:smilewink: (more of a request for the community)
-
Yup. And good timing with the new damage model improvements.

There are a handful of C-101CC skins. It depends which country you're flying. There are skins for Spain, U.S., Russia, Honduras, Chile, and Jordan.
-
It has basic multicrew right now. And some stuff was added in the last open-beta patch.
-
I could be wrong but I think most aircraft in DCS without a bare metal finish look somewhat matte. I just did a visual compare of the L-39 with one of the Czech camo skins with the C-101 with a Spanish camo skin. I think they're pretty comparable. The only thing I would say is that the L-39 has some nice bump mapping that I don't see in the C-101. So that would be a nice effect to add. :)
-
Awesome update, guys! Looking forward to trying it all out.

You're totally free to dislike the textures of course. But did you watch any videos before purchase? There aren't a ton on the C-101 but there were some. And of course there are screenshots. That should have given you an idea of what the textures were like. For the record, I really like the cockpit. Just a couple of small things I would fix.
