  1. As it seems there is a pretty simple trick to fly the MIG at NTTR. Do a cold start and not to activate radar! There is even a better way, that also allows Hot-Starts or anything else. Make a mission in the editor and just "disable" the radar with 100% probability at 0min. of the mission. This will disable the radar. Even if you switch it on, the game will not crash or so.... Right now I am pretty happy with that, since I can buzz the strip at > mach1 :joystick: Have fun
  2. you can "simply" use idisplay to emulate a 2nd screen and move it to the tablet. Refresh rate is "ok" for the shkval (on the kamov).
  3. I just tried the FF-Trimm function in DCS-1.5. It is working as it should, at least what i think it should. Trimming nose-down, moves the stick forward. So if i keep the stick centered, i have to pull back to stay level. Sounds logical to me... :joystick:
  4. about stick shake VS Airframe shake: Exactly this is my point! I only have one tactile interface to the simulator, this is the stick. So I want to have this tactile feedback enriched with all the informations that are available for a real world pilot. If someone does not want that, I am ok with that. But for me this is mandatory for a good simulation. About the trimm feeling. This trim movement of the stick is one of the good things we have. You can feel the SAU system level the plane, so you have more information to get "into" the simulation.
  5. I have copied some quotes from the have donut report, see the attachements. From my perspective, the MIG had a extreme shake-level at some speed and G-combinations, as well as when firing the gun. It was so extreme, that the test pilots were not able to handle the aircraft in these condictions. Even reading the instruments was impossible. Gun firing made at least the cockpit-panel/HUD jidder is considerable. Just imagine what does your bodyl, when the whole aircraft shakes and jidders in a way that you cannot continue flying or reading the instruments? The current DCS Mig-21 shows about nothing of that. Maybe there is some effect of the speed and or g-load . I would say it is marginal. The trimmer seems to work, but here I am unsure if it is modeled realistic. All the other effects are missing!
  6. Simulated STICK forces is one topic, the other is "force feedback". If the MIG-21 does not have any feedback from actuator to stick, I am ok with that. BUT: Once the aircraft shackes and bounces, there are lot´s of "forces" that can are transfered. Maybe not to the stick istself, but to the pilot. herea are also storries of MIG-21 that shake so hard due to aerodynamics that the pilot cannot operate the instruments. What about gun fireing and bomb dropping? With a force-feedback stick you CANtransfer all this to the pilot. It is only REALISTIC to use the force-feedback interface to do this. From my point of view, these forces shall be implemented, since they make the simulation more realistic.
  7. There are books from DDR (east germany) pilots, but I haven't read any...
  8. send me the mission!! :) to the powerlines! try doing barrel-rolls around the lines....
  9. Read these reports: Have donut & Make the best of the Mig-21 Then there is a book I can reccomend: Scream of Eagles by Robert K. Wilcox --> why and how they invented TopGun Then there is Boyd: Aerial Attack Study At latest on this point, you should put your nose on some EM-charts. --> for axample here http://de.slideshare.net/mishanbgd/fighter-performance-in-practice-f4-phantom-vs-mig21
  10. A ak74 can shoot a mig21 into pieces. These are airplanes, not tanks. Even the mighty A10 is only armoured at the cockpit. The golden bullet is still valid....
  11. RTFM: "Longest range speed: 650-600km/h IAS (decreases with altitude) Longest flight duration speed: 480km/h IAS (doesn’t depend on altitude)"
  12. Hello, since the new Bond movie is comming this week, I want to show you some fotos of a interesting MIG-21 that sits in my neighborhood. The MIG seems to be used in the James Bond Spectre movie as US-Fighter, with some FOD reduction device attached to the nosecone.. :lol: Foxtrotalpha Since the MIG is behind a frence, i could not make all the fotos i would like to do. I will definetely come back later, so if anyone is missing some details, I can try to shoot these too. Link to Flickr-Album
  13. Can we also have a flying telephone pole? :D
  14. "Have Donut" states (PDF page 24): "High long. contr. forces. Abovr approx. 510KIAS, below 15000feet, the pilot eperiences high stabilator control forces and cannot command a high pitch rate" At least some versions of the 21 were affected by this...
  15. 2 Reports are interesting: Have donut Make the best of the Mig-21 both can be downloaded and cover more or less the same topics: How to fight the mig-21 from contemporary us fighter
  16. Is this an appropriate comment? ${1}
  17. There is a option at the graphic settings to enlarge the models. Is this option on on your pc and off at others? On the other side: some real life reports (have donut ; make the best of the mig-21) state that the small size (and no/less smoke) make it pretty hard to spot, with eye or radar... so maybe everything is well....
  18. Just to report an incident: I had a spin situation yesterday from about 11km height, so much room for experiments. I found the nothing worked (push stick forward with/without rudder/aileron in/against spin direction) as long as I had AFB on. After back to idle was able to recover plane, with aber 3000m left. So for me it is IDLE mandatory for spin recovery...
  19. i just came up with a new approach angle.. what do you think? :pilotfly: ${1}
  20. Hi, when i fly with a high angle in direction of the clouds, and roll the plane, the clouds will "roll" with me. Looks very distracting... :cry: To replicate: flight path about 60-90° (up or down) and in direction of clouds. roll the aircraft. small clouds will rotate around their position
  21. use the mouse, and click 2 buttons??? Where is the problem? That`s no HOTAS aircraft, so just don't try to make i one... Takeoffs are pretty easy. Just rotate the plane with full-burner, keep you angle (20-30deg) and you have all the time clicking the buttons in the cockpit. So much power makes it about impossible to stall at takeoff
  22. This is the real reason I fly the MIG more than any other planes! Just take your time, do the preparation, write the notes. Make some sketches... In the end, when you come back home with a (nearly) empty tank and a successfull mission, it feels much better then waypoint clicking in the A-10. After some missions you won't get lost, since you check your heading and position all the time.
  23. i have: On my thumb: trigger/gun rockets/bombs on top hat-switch: SAU recovery and SAU off elevator-trim on left hat-switch: wheel brake radar lock radar dist. up radar dist. down center-view (most clicked button) right hat switch: kneeboard control (on-off, fwd, aft) on the base of the stick i have: speed-brakes in/out That´s it.. everything else is 60`s style.. --> move and click the mouse
  24. just make a jpg and put it in the kneeboard folder. ...DCS World/Mods/aircraft/MIG-21bis/Cockpit/KNEEBOARD/indicator/CONTENT There are some templates that can be replaced easily... here is my distance/fuel chart i have made, it's much more simple with the fuel consumption data from the manual http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=121094&d=1441307070
  25. i added a page on my kneeboard with a time/distance chart and some fuel consumption infos from the manual. 12min is the std. IFR pattern for landing, still very conservative
