  1. Depicting a Junkers Ju 88A6 of 8.KG78, F1+GS, France, summer 1943 with remains of temporary black undersurfaces and swastika overpainted black. (Therefore no need for two skins). You will need WW2 Assets Pack. Place the two skin folders in X:\Users\XXX\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\Ju-88A4. You probably don't have a Ju-88A4 folder. Just create one and name it just as shown here. Many thanks to Warlord64 for his excellent template. Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313581/ LINK: TBD
  2. Depicting a Junkers Ju 88A-14 operating with the Stabstaffel St.G 77 in the spring of 1943 in Kalinowka, Poland. Includes one skin with and one without swastika. Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313581/ and to JG1_Klaiber for his very helpful research. A link to his post: https://forum.jg1.org/topic/10866-ju-88-of-stab-stg77/#comment-86778 Note the Schwartzkopf heraldic badge alongside the death's hand emblem, also more clearly visible in the pictures below. This emblem was designed to honour an earlier Geschwaderkommodore, Oberst Günther Schwartzkopf, who was killed during the Westfeldzug. The Stabsstaffel StG 77 operated both the Bf 110 and the Ju 88 A-4. The Totenhand emblem has previously and mistakenly been attributed to the Stab. NAG 1. The photo shown was taken during the time that StG 77 and StG 2 were being reorganized, both operated the Bf 110 and Ju88A. Both units had about 12 Ju 88 A-4s. According to unit strength records from May 21, 1943 both units were disbanded and their crews reassigned to bomber groups. LINK: TBD
  3. Is this the correct log file? dcs.log
  4. @BIGNEWY. Same thing here. Only recently. I'll do the recommendations that you gave to @petsild. Would you mind taking a look at my log file as well? dcs.log-20231217-211016.zip
  5. That's the issue! When unzipped it had the main folder "TheWayV241" which contained a "Scripts" folder which contained the needed "TheWay" folder (see image showing the incorrect architecture). This peculiarity in unzipping has messed me up before with other things. It works fine now. Posting this in case others might have the same issue. Thanks for this great software and for the help @Comrade Doge
  6. On a new install of The Way. I'm pretty sure that I followed the install instructions exactly for 2.4.1 but I have the "No Connection to DCS". One thing that confused me was where to place the line in the edited Export.lua file (and I verified that it is indeed a lua and not a text). I use Notepad++. Here is my current lua: local wwtlfs=require('lfs') dofile(wwtlfs.writedir()..'Scripts/wwt/wwtExport.lua') local SimShakerlfs=require('lfs'); dofile(SimShakerlfs.writedir()..'Scripts/SimShaker.lua') dofile(lfs.writedir()..[[Scripts\SimShaker-export-core\ExportCore.lua]]) pcall(function() local dcsSr=require('lfs');dofile(dcsSr.writedir()..[[Mods\Services\DCS-SRS\Scripts\DCS-SimpleRadioStandalone.lua]]); end, nil) local TheWayLfs=require('lfs'); dofile(TheWayLfs.writedir()..'Scripts/TheWay/TheWay.lua') Should the added line for The Way go before the end, nil) line? (actually, I tried it both ways with no fix of the connection issue). I have uninstalled The Way using the uninstaller in C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Programs\theway and reinstalled. Several reboots of the machine also. I have Scratchpad installed and it works fine. The most recent log file attached. dcs.zip
  7. Nice skins @MYSE1234! Can you point me to the new templates (or ANY templates for that matter) for the Viggen? I found one pointing to a Google Drive but it says that I need permission to access. Thanks
  8. Thanks Keith! Part of the rules for module prizes was that they had to be DCS built modules. Since I already had every DCS module except the F-16 (which I downloaded but haven't done much with yet) Nineline and Bignewey graciously offered miles instead. So, I DL'd the Viggen (again, haven't flown much yet) and I'm just sitting on the miles for now.
  9. Rgr, wilco Keith ... Depicting a Junkers Ju 88A4 of Stab. II./KG 77, 3Z+AC, Pilot Heinrich Paepcke, Sicily, October 1942 You will need WW2 Assets Pack. Place the two skin folders in X:\Users\XXX\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\Ju-88A4. You probably don't have a Ju-88A4 folder. Just create one and name it just as shown here. Many thanks to Warlord64 for his excellent template. Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313581/ Based on a model by Hoss WA. Link: https://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/2/p/191445/2206341.aspx II.KG77 took part in the Siege of Malta. Hauptmann Heinrich Paepcke commanded II.Gruppe during this period up to his loss with his crew on 17th October 1942 over Malta, during one of the most intense aerial battles in history. Over this period KG77 perfected close ground support and anti-shipping tactics, and developed shape disrupting camouflage as seen on this aircraft. The blue upper surface blotches (on sand + RLM70&71 splinter) are to disrupt the shape of the aircraft against coastline etc to make them harder targets for AAA and enemy fighters at low altitude. KG77 also supported the AfrikaKorps including the Second Battle of El Alamein, and resisted the Allied invasion of Sicily, probably destroying the U.S. Liberty ship SS Robert Rowan on 11 July. 10. That's the ideal way The Boss would banish me to the couch due to excessive expenditure though
  11. I do hope that it will work for you... maybe without the extension it will but the boot does add considerable centering force. It wasn't all that difficult to remove. I just used two screwdrivers to work it past the stock attachment fitting. It stretches quite a bit. Without the springs the stick would fall off to the side or forward / back due to the weight of the stick (the extension exaggerated this). I didn't want the stick to center... that's the point. I want it to stay exactly where it is if I take my hand off. I could make it work with more tension on the clamps but it was way too stiff for my liking. As I have it now, I can fly with fingertip pressure and the stick stays in the position I leave it. I bought the Winwing extension and consider it money well spent both for Helis as well as fixed wings. BTW, I can switch from Heli to fixed wing (I loosen the clamps to zero and install the heavier springs and the default cams) in less than three minutes using a cordless screwdriver with the appropriate hex bits.
  12. Yes, this was a main issue for me. I removed the boot and replaced it with some stretchy spandex like fabric. I use the lightest spring from the kit with the NC-1S cams (I also have the 10cm extension. If not using an extension, you may not need the cams / springs). I found this to work perfectly. The PG44A was too stiff and I went back to 767A. See this post:
  13. Honestly it's the first time I tried making a mission with torpedoes. See the screenshot as to the mission set-up. The AI spend lost of time circling around before they make a run (maybe the IP needs to be much further away from the ships?), and they don't attack as a group even though set to do so. Even though I set them to drop both torps, they only drop one and never seem to come back to drop the second one. If the convoy is traveling at anything above 20kph, they invariably miss astern of the target. Of course, the AAA from the ships is murderous. I set the gunners as low as I could but finally had to reduce their ammo to almost nothing. Of course, I could set the ROE to "Weapons hold" but where's the fun in that? I did set them to "Return fire" instead of "Weapons free" so they don't fire until the torps are dropped. I think the Sinai map might be good. It, at least, has the eastern Med.
  14. Depicting a Junkers Ju 88A14 of 1.KG77 3Z+DH flown by Johannes Geismann Sicily,1942. Included are one skin with and one without swastika. I'm hoping to see some torpedo attack missions. Johannes Geismann, (DOB: June 6, 1920 in Hattingen/Ruhr). (R, DKG). November 15, 1939 volunteered for the Luftwaffe and began training with Fl.Ausb.Rgt. 63. (n.d.) received further training with FFS A/B Marienbad, then with FFS C 1, then BFS 1 and Grosse KFS 1. Summer 1941 trf to 1./KGr. 606. 19.01.42 Lt., KGr. 606 WIA - Ju 88 A-4 crashed 9 km W of Corigliane as a result of motor trouble. 10.08.42 Lt., awarded Ehrenpokal. 08.42 appt Staka 1./KG 77. 01.09.42 trf to I./KG 77 when his unit was renamed. 27.10.42 Lt., awarded DKG, 1./KGr. 606. 12.11.42 claimed to have sunk a passenger ship of about 20,000 GRT, possibly the Awatea (13,482 GRT) or the Cathay (15,225 GRT). 21.12.42 Lt., 1./KG 77, awarded Ritterkreuz for sinking 98,000 GRT of enemy shipping, mostly in the Mediterranean. 01.04.43 in KG 77, promo to Oblt. 06.43 returned to Germany to train on torpedos. 11.43 Oblt., appt Staka 10./KG 77 (to 07.44). 03.44 flew some torpedo missions in the Mediterranean. 08.44 retrained on fighters. 01.10.44 promo to Hptm. c.11.44 converted to night fighters and assigned to IV./NJG 1. 05.45 was a Staka in IV./NJG 1. 30.09.79 retired from the Bundeswehr as an Oberst i.G. †15.08.94 in Aurich. Credited with sinking more than 71,000 GRT of shipping. Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3334470/
  15. I see that @jackd has just posted some Ju-88 skins (very nice BTW). I thought it might be best to have a simple, easily searchable, thread for any Ju-88 skins. Here is the link for @Warlord64's template: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313581/ Here are Skins: @jackd skins: Ju88a Standard German liveries https://www.mediafire.com/file/9h38cwui4t36ji9/Junkers_88a4_JJ.zip/file @Warlord64: Ju 88 F6+DN of 5.(F)/122 Winter,Eastern Front 1942. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3324843/ Ju 88A14 Skinpack of Stab II.NAG1 Romania 1944. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313550/ Ju88-A4 9K+FR of KG51 Zaporozhye, Ukraine May 1942 https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313258/ I'm not aware of any others. If you have some or are aware of some, please post here. Here are my two latest with photos (they were just submitted so I don't have links yet.) Edit: Links added Junkers Ju 88A4 of 4.KG54, B3+AM Catania, Sicily 1943. I cheated somewhat and used the default Ju 88 skin for the weaving paint on the undersides. This aircraft actually had more uniform "squiggles" but I just didn't want to spend the time on an AI only skin. KG 54 'Totenkopf', the 'Dead's head' was based in Bergamp, Italy in September 1943. The unit operated over the Sicily/Salerno beachheads. The painted green and white stripes over the original Mediterranean two-tone camouflage on the upper surfaces gives very specific appearance [easy ident over beachhead]. This painting scheme was named 'Wellenmuster'. Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3334469/
  16. RIP Don. Thank you for all your help with my Virpil throttle and navigating the inscrutable software. CAVU and tailwinds kind Sir.
  17. Makes sense but still wondering why the others could see visibility dots and I couldn't on 4YA. Must be something in MY settings. Any ideas which lua files I should look at? I don't think that's the case since we were comparing on both servers. Distance spotting was pretty much the same on Wolfpack while on 4YA the others spotted at vastly further distances than me. Everyone describes the dots as "oil smudges" which indicates that we are describing the same thing.
  18. Lots has already been said (and honestly, I haven't looked at everything on the "dots" subject) but I came across an issue tonight... On one server, Wolfpack Warbirds, I was seeing the dots and was able to turn them off and on using a bound button (same as LShft + F10). None of my squad mates were able to turn them off with the same keypress. On another server, [4ya] Overlord WW2, nothing I did brought the dots on while all of my squad were able to see them. This puts me at a distinct disadvantage against other players who CAN see these dots. My settings have ALL labels on. I can turn all labels (including the 2.9 dots) on and off with the bound button in SP. I'm not sure which servers may let me turn them on / off since I haven't done much more testing. It does seem that there must be something peculiar to one of my lua files, probably config and maybe interacting with a particular server settings. “DotRendererExperiment = False” /True, or any other version of uppercase / lowercase or blank has no effect. I am using Reverb G2 but so were other squad members. Hoping for a resolution in the next update. I do appreciate the efforts by the Dev team.
  19. An A-20G-35-DO Ser. No. 43-10067, White 51 of the commander of the 51st Mine and Torpedo Aviation Regiment of the Red Banner Baltic Fleet, Ivan Feofanovich Orlenko, at Kolberg airfield, Germany, April-July 1945. It appears that the upper four 50 caliber guns were removed and windows added to allow for a bombardier for more accuracy in torpedo delivery. Of course, that's not an option in game so it's left without the nose glazing. A generic 51st MTAP skin is included with BORT numbers enabled. This skin is named "USSR 51st Mine and Torpedo Regiment". Uploaded to DCS User Files. Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3334245/
  20. I modified Dalva's "Cute" english cockpit with less cute voice using MS Voice Recognition. The mod is here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3319654/ The .ogg files are located here and they do work: C:\Users\Rick\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\tech\Dalva-Moe Mi-24-English\Sounds\Effects\Aircrafts\Mi-24P\Cockpit\RI65 I was wondering where your files are installed.
  21. Do you know where this folder is located?
  22. Actually, MV launches fine for me when I click on the ModelViewer2.exe located in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin-mt. Just thought that I should report it. I don't use the DCS Updater GUI to launch MV normally (I have a shortcut on desktop) and I don't see any advantage at this point to use the MT version anyway.
  23. A-20G Havoc ser. no.43-9521 nicknamednamed "LITTLE CHIEF" of the 321st BS, 90th BG "Jolly Rogers", New Guinea. Nicknamed "Little Chief" with the nose art of a woman wearing a leather jacket with a 90th Bomb Group patch, her legs resting on boxes stenciled "Gin Cairns" and her head on a parachute with "521" below her arm. This A-20 was used as a "fat cat" for flight from New Guinea to Australia for fresh food and alcohol, essentially a beer run hack. Why Little Chief? The B 24 in the same bomber group, was Big Chief. I have included a generic version without the Little Chief nose art. Not historically correct since the Jolly Rogers were pretty much a B-24 squadron but who doesn't like a shiny, bare aluminum aircraft. Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3333233/ Douglas A-20G Boston, A28-52 DU-C of No 22 Sqn., RAAF This A-20G was delivered in June 1944 and served with the Squadron until it was badly damaged at Morotai on 22 November 1944. It was subsequently written off and reduced to spares. Note the larger diameter fuselage roundel proportions. This A-20G was possibly painted in the field with the original Olive Drab being painted over with RAAF Foliage Green whilst still retaining its Neutral Gray undersides. I have included a generic version with selectable Bort letters. Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3333234/ Douglas A-20G Boston, A28-67 DU-V of No 22 Sqn., RAAF This A-20G was delivered in August 1944 and served with the Squadron until it was damaged in an air raid in October 1944 and was later reduced to components. Standard Olive Drab upper surfaces over Neutral Gray undersides. Note heavy weathering and darker shade of Olive Drab tail fin with Medium Green splotching on the rudder. I have included a generic version with selectable Bort letters. Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3333235/
