Mouse pointer and head movement in VR
II.JG1_Vonrd replied to VR FlightSim's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Bump... the new, more visible cursor in update 2.9.3.51704 is great but please de-link it from head movement (or make that an option). -
Can we please have more training missions - Esp Apache
II.JG1_Vonrd replied to PKP_Cooler's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Many modules have gaps in the Training Mission menu. For example, there is nothing specifically for radar operation in the F-16. The AMRAAM tutorial states "I assume that you are familiar with the operation of the radar.. see pages ... thru ... in the manual". -
Regular review of Training Missions
II.JG1_Vonrd replied to Raven (Elysian Angel)'s topic in DCS Core Wish List
This! Please! Maybe open it up to talented Mission Builder users and have their missions incorporated into the game (after review of course) and give them some rewards like is done for Livery competitions.- 1 reply

Many sticks / throttles have rotary encoder dials (my Virpil CM3 throttle has several). Encoders work by sending pulses. I would think that all you have to do is map the encoder as a single button press. When you rotate the dial, multiple button presses will be sent. I don't use this as I have VoiceAttack set-up for "Eject, Eject, Eject". Unfortunately, my Wife knows this and has snuck up behind me and yelled "Eject, Eject, Eject"...

Build in necksaver (necksafer) into the game please
II.JG1_Vonrd replied to fdski's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I have XRNeckSafer and can't do without it due to physical mobility issues. I'm very grateful to @NobiWan for supplying this software and continuing to support it. I'm just worried each time there's a DCS update that it will get broken. Please make it (or something similar) an integral part of DCS. -
!!! Microsoft kills WMR with Windows 11 version 24H2 and newer !!!
II.JG1_Vonrd replied to Ulukai's topic in Virtual Reality
Per the Tomshardware link from @Cab Wouldn't the bricking of one's headset qualify as a "known hardware incompatibility" and an "outstanding issue"? Systems with known hardware incompatibilities will be pushed to the back of the update line, to allow for software/driver updates to address outstanding issues. "There's a sucker born every minute", that's what you're thinking?- 50 replies

True and I don't expect that, but the learning curve is steep. They help to get past the early stumbles and open the door to learning more of the finer points. In the F-16 I'm currently trying to learn the radar (I don't have much experience in the other similar US planes either). There are about 70 pages on radar in Chucks guide. Going back and forth between the manual and the game is frustrating enough that I'm giving up for tonight after about 3 hours. A tutorial would have gotten me past the basics. The tutorial on the UFC was very helpful and I have a basic handle on that system. Why is there a blank in the F-16 tutorials which jump from the UFC to AIM 9s with nothing on radar? Doesn't make any sense to me. -
Watch YouTube tutorials while in game?
II.JG1_Vonrd replied to II.JG1_Vonrd's topic in Virtual Reality
Unfortunately, that's the case due to my particular set-up. My HOTAS is connected to the machine that is dedicated to VR. I can view DCS on the other machine but can't control anything. BTW, as a mechanic for 25 years (as well as a private pilot) in RL, I wouldn't dream of doing a complex operational check without a printed copy (or later on, a laptop or Ipad) of the pertinent section of the Maintenance Manual with me in the cockpit, even if it's a procedure that I'm well familiar with. But, that's right there with you, not a separate entity while you're in a VR bubble. -

Watch YouTube tutorials while in game?
II.JG1_Vonrd replied to II.JG1_Vonrd's topic in Virtual Reality
But that doesn't address the issue. I have all the official manuals as well as Chuck's but taking the VR headset off is a PITA especially because I have prescription lenses for the VR and I'm blind as a bat without my glasses. Module makers should provide a more complete list of tutorials. Yeah, it's a drain on resources for them but I reserve my right to bitch. -
Watch YouTube tutorials while in game?
II.JG1_Vonrd replied to II.JG1_Vonrd's topic in Virtual Reality
Like this? I'm looking at the Quest 3 because of the passthrough. A friend just got one and says that it could probably be done looking at the 'Tube displayed on a monitor. I have 2 monitors and 2 PCs so I could display the 'Tube on a monitor on the second machine while in VR / Game on the other machine. -
It's difficult to try and remember what is said on a YouTube tutorial once I'm back in the game. Is there some way to switch back and forth from the 'tube to the game and back while in VR? Specifically WMR Reverb G2... (yeah, I know all about Windows about to brick it). Virtual desktop? Any other solution? Many of the DCS modules are lacking complete tutorial missions. The F-16 for example, which I'm currently trying to learn, has nothing on Radar. The one on the AIM9 just says to RTFM (in more polite terms... but still the same thing .

DCS cameras, views and video recording
II.JG1_Vonrd replied to Bucic's topic in Screenshots and Videos
I found the answer in the changelog for Oct. 19, 2023 NEW: Cinematic Camera View - Right Control + F2. In combination with the mouse, the WASD keys can be used to move the camera forward, back, and laterally, and the Q and E keys can move the camera up and down. -

Is there no answer to this? When / why did this happen? Really makes external screenshots setup difficult! Talking about "Truck" and "Pedestal" movements. -
No Mosquito sub forum in Liveries/Skinning
II.JG1_Vonrd replied to Helles Belle's topic in Liveries/Skinning
Bumping... -
As a winner in both the B-17 and Mosquito competitions, I must say that I take offense to this comment. I spent many, many hours on the skins that I submitted and am proud of what I produced. Yes, I would have preferred roughmets to be applied to the B-17 and @NineLine did push for them to be included, but the ED team decided not to do so. I assume that they did not want to allot the programming time to what is an AI only aircraft. I accepted that. @Warlord64 did come up with a good workaround by editing the B-17 json file. There were many stellar skins submitted in both these competitions by some talented skinners. EDIT: It seems that the original post regarding all of this has been deleted. I'm not clear as to what the actual issue is but I hold all of those posting about "ED's livery policy" in the highest esteem. I just take exception to @thepod's statement about being "head and shoulders" above the lowest common denominator of skinners.
