  1. Oh I ABSOLUTELY agree. Seems like most of the quality entries are using roughmets and they may be forced to implement them if those are the only good entries that they get. Still, it was a challenge learning how to make the speculars work and it added to my skill quill. I might just leave mine as is with the specs unless they decide to go with roughmets.
  2. @Mach3DS... looking fantastic. Question, are you using roughmets? If so are you aware of Ninelines response to my question about whether it will be roughmets or the default speculars? right now assume the template is as it is right now. I would hate to see such stellar work wasted.
  3. From what @NineLine said, roughmets will not be working. I don't understand what you're saying. Regardless, I've figured out the speculars and they are working just fine. I'm not doing a polished aluminum aircraft... far from it
  4. Thanks. I'll push through with the speculars then.
  5. @NineLine So what is the decision? I'm seeing people doing Roughmets, people changing the json file and using specs and maybe people not doing anything and using the default. Please... what's it going to be? I'm currently working with speculars (a PITA... I much prefer roughmets) but fear that my time will be wasted and will have to do roughmets in the end.
  6. Regardless of who has the biggest... (and from my impression Urbi is extremely lacking due to his lack of civility). I really want to know... @NineLine... is ED is actually going to change the B-17 (and hopefully all other legacy modules) to PBR / Roughmets. I'm almost at the point where I need to work on the reflective parts of my B-17 skin. Mine is painted but has lots of weathering and areas of bare aluminum. I could do it as Specs but much prefer PBR / roughmets. I can do either but don't want to waste my time (which I'm beginning to think that I've spent way too much time on for an AI plane). ED needs to come to a conclusion and let us know. After all, we're working basically for free (regardless of the "Prize".
  7. Beautiful paint chipping! Looks like hours of labor. Love the look of the prop dome. IMHO, the mirror polish of the aluminum doesn't match the weathered look though. Maybe for a fresh from factory would the mirror be appropriate. Still, Kudos! (Pretty amazing the effort we're putting into an AI only aircraft. I have 20 - 30 hrs so far...)
  8. That's what I thought but this is what is in the first post / "rules". Does he mean just blank with no lettering? Seems worthless if it's based on standard 8th AF camo or bare aluminum. There will just be a bunch of duplicates (with maybe som slight variations from the different skinners).
  9. Where are the files for the Borts? I extracted the Description lua for the default skin from the Model Viewer and don't see any in there.
  10. Nice! @NineLine, would this be acceptable for the contest? It would be outside the stated timeframe.
  11. Yes, changing to PBR / Roughmets would certainly be best. For the moment, I'm just going to work with the Specs for changes to gloss. Easy enough to go for Roughs if they decide to change the JSON.
  12. I would like to make Thunderbird (42-38050) I would also like to do some Israeli B-17s. I think they were actually B-17Fs but have also seen renders of B-17G. I know it's not in the time frame for the contest but think it would fit well in the new Saini map.
  13. Full repair fixed.
  14. Anyone know how to fix? No other planes affected. In multithread.
  15. In case anyone else has this issue... With the help of Alexander Maximov (Mike) from ED customer service I think I've found the issue. He had me basically start with completely fresh Saved Games. The freshly created folders worked fine and I began putting folders files back into it. The culprit had to do with the "VR" section of the options.lua in the Config folder. After comparing differences between my old options.lua and the fresh options.lua and changing them one by one I found it was ["mirror_use_DCS_resolution"]. My old file had it as true and the fresh had it as false. When I changed the fresh / current file from false to true, the cursor was restrained from moving to the top of the screen. I put it back to false and cursor operation is normal.
  16. @ouky1991 I would like to change brightness and color on the JF-17 HUD since I have difficulty seeing it against clouds. Looking at your materials.lua for the FA-18C, it looks like the only change is this line: MDG_materials[MDG_SELF_IDS.HUD] = {2, 255, 20, 385} to this: MDG_materials[MDG_SELF_IDS.HUD] = {2, 255, 30, 45} That particular section, local MDG_materials = {}, isn't in the JF-17 materials.lua. Any ideas as to which lines to change? Thank you!
  17. Well, no response to this. Can someone point me to the particular lua that relates to mouse cursor mapping?
  18. Bumping this... The cursor should be confined to Mouse (of other means, like PointCtrl) movement only. Head movement should have no affect. Still no word from ED?
  19. In Multithreading the cursor won't move above a certain point (line). See image. Works fine in Non-Multithreading. Reverb G-2, Open XR, XRNecksafer. With "cursor confined to game window" box checked or unchecked. I'm using MSAA mask of 90%
  20. @BIGNEWY, @NineLine and the ED Team. Once the storm has passed I think it may be interesting to post the number of users flooding the server. Might serve as a bit of a balm to realize how large the community actually is. Thanks for the regular replies and the work to solve the issue. Sh**t happens
  21. Login now working for me. Thanks ED.
  22. Sometimes stuff just goes sideways...
  23. At first I had the "Website unavailable" and all my modules disabled. Now I have "Failed to get authorization" error 504 and all modules still disabled. Did complete repair and system reboot. Windows time is synched. Guess I'll just blow off DCS for today then...
  24. There are mods to make clear canopy. I don't think they break integrity check.
