I think what is happening can be attributed to the button applying full wheel brake. Are you flaring on landing and holding your nose up? another solution is to hold w in bursts.
-
It seems like an update is always released when a Joint Warrior begins. I'm not sure if this is great news or horrible news.
-
Hate to say but this solution did not work. Has anyone else had this problem? I've never been able to get tacview workt, and I've downloaded it off and on for about 6 months now. I'm just honestly trying to really figure the problem out instead of running from it. Will edit or post as I try new ideas

Saitek X55 or Thrustmaster Warthog
AegisFX replied to mr.john_doe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I owned the x55 for a week. I found the throttle to be bulkier than my current warthog. It Made extensive use of rorotaries, but I honestly didn't have a use for most of them. What I needed we're switches and buttons. The various switches of the warthog throttle let me start up my fc3 aircraft. The many rotaries and fewer buttons and switches did not. I also never make any use of controller programming, so the different modes were useless too. -
Are you placing them first? If so, they are not your flight, but a separate AI flight. Go back into editor and place your plane first. Then add 3 units by tweaking the box that comes after "of". What you want is to have you, the player or client, as 1 of 4. The AI units will be 2, 3, and 4. Once in the game and flying, you can contact them via radio. A as flight lead, they will fly off of your wing. Not exactly what you want, but it can help you fly as a good lead. I.E. not leaving the team behind. Otherwise, your best bet is to place one friendly unit and fly on its wing. You won't be able to communicate, but can practice controlling your closure and spacing. Barring these options, consider joining an acrobatic server and asking any players there for a formation flight. As far as wanting to be in a flight of AI units and not being lead, it's currently impossible. I myself posted a thread requesting that feature within the wishlist section.

I have had tacview 1.2.8 for a few weeks now. I am still unable to save recordings. I can view downloaded files fine, but simply cant record/save from my own dcs .exe. What exactly are my options? I recently had an issue that I resolved by deleting my whole savedgames/DCS folder, so I'm not sure whether this is still viable or not.

Is this actual footage of the new Hornet module? Or are we looking at a playable mod or AI units?

I've done this with the A-10C and the f-15c in different ways. Make a convoy of vehicles: Consider a MBT or APC in the front, AAA toward rear, and a few soft targets in the middle. Trucks, school buses, limo, whatever. Give the convoy a route, and have baddies come after it. You assist the convoy in making it to a safe zone for a successful mission. You could probably make something similar with you hunting a convoy before they cross a bridge/border etc. Expand either version of convoy to end at an airport, and spawn a cargo or transport plane. Once the convoy arrives, the plane becomes the target. Destroy it before it finishes taking off.

Some things on a sort of checklist: 1:Smooth landing with no damage to the tire or struts. 2: nws key, s by default, is being held the whole time you steer. 3: using rctrl+enter, make sure you are getting the input. ie, the game is seeing you give rudder/nosewheel command. I've personally landed with damage to the wheel that only showed up as no wheel steering. 4:is this happening at takeoff too? In different missions? I'm sure this isn't everything, but just some immediate stuff that comes to my mind from experience.

Just want to go on and bump up the thread. Stopped flying for a while, and trying to come back. MFD units are still affected by this, and thankfully, the support link, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2900614/en-us, is still an excellent, if somewhat "temporary" fix for users with the MFDs. We're still waiting on a permanent solution, but for new players buying these MFDs, hopefully a bump will be useful.

Some advice I got when I picked up fc3 about a year ago, was always consider yourself as defending your territory. Don't press too far ahead, pick your anchor/landmark, and just sort of loiter. An enemy starts getting close and you start tracking, maneuvering, and firing to drive that unit from your space. He extends for 30. Chase for 10 and hold again. This puts you in a defensive position, and works best, I think, if you are flying escort or watching friendly strikers over their objectives. But I think if you can hold an area near a waypt, repel a unit, push afteer

What are some reasons I can't save my online name or net speed?

What are some reasons I can't save my online name or net speed?
AegisFX replied to AegisFX's topic in Multiplayer Issues
Typed up a response to this, and then went to sleep before sending. Last night, the files were set to read only. I unchecked that box. Today, I checked my router's rules list. DCS is there as a tcp rule for port 10308. I've also deleted my network.vault file, and after trying to run dcs w, updated it again. I joined a server , still with no speed setting, or permanent name. I ended up with a ctd. Still working my way through this. Attempting to find a crash log or something now. I found my latest crash and dump files. Is this a support ticket worthy issue? -
What are some reasons I can't save my online name or net speed?
AegisFX replied to AegisFX's topic in Multiplayer Issues
I didn't need to reactivate. My network speed box is still blank though, and my name isn't staying. Haven't played online since earlier this week, so a quick 30 minutes will tell me if I still have the connect interrupts. -
What are some reasons I can't save my online name or net speed?
AegisFX replied to AegisFX's topic in Multiplayer Issues
That's probably the only thing I haven't done that I know of. I was worried about having to deal with activation again, but since it's been activated on this hardware, I suppose there's no reason not to at this point. -
I made this topic before the reset and it was lost in the internet's void. So here are my problems: 1a. When I login for online play, my options screen continues to use my computer's default name. I change it, play a little, crash out, quit, etc, then relaunch MP. My name has reset. 1b. In that MP options screen? My network speed dropbox is completely blank. I don't have any options to change it at all. 2. I can't seem to stay connected to some servers. I can connect for maybe a minute tops, before I get interrupted and returned to server browser. Before this problem, I was unable to really play DCS after upgrading my computer's parts. 2 or 3 dialogue boxes per module asking me to validate before receiving an error and having to click retry. To solve this, I used the files at this link, to wipe my registry and use another activation for my modules. Link for paranoid forum users: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/faq/activation_wiki/ Solutions I've tried this week are: 1."repair DCS World" program. It said it was downloading runtimes, but froze. Upon .exe restart, it says downloading runtimes for a moment, says cleaning up, then closes abruptly. 2. Just downloaded the 1.2.10 update 3. Still have the blank network speed box, which I think is part of my connection woes.

I've been searching using google and I've tried looking through this forum's search feature but I don't finding the right keywords to find this mod. google's mostly showing things about extensions. I'm not sure if I should, but I intend to use it center-mounted with pvc on my desk chair, and I think having it twisted a bit would be more comfortable.

LLike Rocky, I'd like to be put on a waitlist for the 120mm.

Sign me up for an orange fighter. This will be an awesome way to get some real seat time. Hopefully I can get some other stingers in on this. Edit: I'm seeing others request specific units. If we need to do that, I'm asking for an f15c.
-
So, it sounds like, without looking at the tacview, your wingman's missiles are trying to track a merged target. The target gives your wingman and his missile's radars the slip, and when it goes pitbull it sees you. "Cover me" instructs your team to attack the nearest unit to you. If so, that's a pretty close shot for the mto take if it's in the merge. Also, you can simply tell your team to rejoin/formation. You could even tell them to fly the waypoints.
-
Are you playing online? Try to get an escort fighter to fly with you. The truth is there is never a perfect technique or maneuver that will counter a situation. I"t's a lot more fluid than that. With that said, the best you can really do here is preventative. Plan a route that may flank these enemy units. For example, take a mission where you launch from vaziani and enemies launch from mozdok, minvody, etc. Fly toward the coast. Land and refuel if possible, then continue a wide path. the fighters may not expect you from that angle.

In your experience, has any other simulator attempted these 2 specific ideas? If DCS is the first I'd be ecstatic!

Yes yes yes! THIS is what I was trying to suggest, but you've stated it in a much cleaner language! THANK YOU SO MUCH +REP

Has anyone requested the ability to use neutral countries within the editor? I think we are missing out on lots of good mission concepts by only allowing 2 sides. I myself believe we're missing out with the current inability to do something like: US, RU, and Insurgent forces used in mission. Insurgents can be neutral and hostile to both countries. I think will help to create more complex political situations such as one force possibly crossing into enemy territory to deal with aggressive third parties( for USA citizens, think US special forces in Pakistan these past few years since the post-9/11 troop involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq) As of now, the neutral parties list seems to serve only to remove the chosen countries from selection within the editor.(Unless I'm missing these countries somehow...) *I have a personal interest in this because of the dynamic political tension. Allow this force to cross your territory and use force? Chase these bombers/fighters back into their space? Etc.*

typing in "localhost" does absolutely nothing, while connecting to default 127xxxx works so far . About 15 minutes ago, I took my machine out of the DMZ, and manually added ports 10309-10315(10310 included). I began refreshing dcs, lotatc, and the portchecker. About 3 port checks in, my port was recognized as open. I've been able to connect twice now, but each time it's just saying "Waiting for mission datas". Update: It finally works. I am unsure what changed. I closed the server, renamed my mission, and then launched again. connected no problems. For anyone else that may be looking at my additions to this thread: A. apparently my router's DMZ did not handle the ports as it claimed it would(all traffic granted clear access to DMZ machine). As for waiting for data, I'm unsure if it is because my mission's script was previously runnign in debug mode or not. I intend to spend some of the day going through these steps rigourously to find out and will report my findings within this post. DArt, Azrayen, Dejjvid, I want to thank you all for your help in getting me through these problems. I look forward to checking them one by one and reporting.
