Any word on the throttle unit?
-
Thanks for the info guys. When I first purchased dad a10c around 2011 or 2012 ( standalone before dcs world) i actually did the monitor and Velcro thing. Right now I'm actually researching for an f-18c pit, so I can't actually rely on that. Though I may use a small screen for some of the guages.

Tactics section in in-game DCS encyclopedia.

The encyclopedia largely needs a rewrite in my opinion. So I must agree here. -

We have a few new names around the forums though. I wonder if they'd have any interest? and what of the MFG crosswinds company? -

facebook ads, instagram, etc. some of the best cheap marketing out there. -
First, I apologize for not keeping up with the conversation. With that out of the way, I want to tidy up some statements. I said the 18 was a bomb truck. I believe that. Players looking for another f16c styled dogfighter, or a long endurance superiority fighter like the 15c, not just in fuel but armament as well (can the 18 carry 2 amraams on a pylon like the E?) are going to be disappointed. However, it does have the best slow speed agility, HMD+9X, and a few other features that help it fight. Being able to fight and win doesn't make it a fighter in the design though. Relatively poor acceleration, climb, and payload (15c) mean the new wave of hornet pilots will need to rethink A2A methods. I think many of us have a practical understanding of those differences, but I'm starting to get the feel that others may have unrealistic expectations. Partly due to love of the craft, partly from years of anticipation. I'm sure the 18c can defend itself, but I doubt any of the FC3 craft have anything to fear if played to their roles.

So, I think I know what OP is talking about. Have any of you heard of Interstellar Marines? A gamemode there has a "world" of 9 locations. Each one works on it's own server, with a loading screen as you disconnect and join the new server between doorways. I like the idea and that game does it well. It isn't seamless though, but chat works through all areas, as well as the in-game grouping. Important disclaimer: IM runs on unity engine. It's been in steam early access for years now, with no real roadmap toward completion( 1 guy on staff)

I forget, will flying low through a city mess with radar trying to track you?
-
No, just the 15c and 9m. I believe i may have been mistaken as to how target tracking happens. That said, I'm unsure if the 9x performance is real. I'm confident that the community will find ways to defeat the 9x as modeled with the 18c.
-
The missile might not be fooled, but I've had situations of trying to chase someone *in the f15c with 9m* and it either locks the flare or doesn't lock anything. I could be wrong, but I'm thinking that's the plane unable to track. Unless it's using the missile as sensor. *I assumed that, other than the a10c, planes with A2A missiles use onboard sensors to track, with the weapon tracking after launch. Upon further thought, I suppose the tracking is all done using the warhead seeker?

Speed up.. with as much cms as the eagle has, set it to auto dispense when the 18 is behind you. Why are so many people forgetting the 18 is a bomb truck? Yes, it can defend itself with it's weaponry and manoeuvring but it is not a fighter in the sense of the 15c, 27, or 33.
-
I strongly support expanded warehouse function. I'm surprised it doesn't really get much public discussion from the devs because it's that important.
-
27 and 15. 33 if it's over water. Though there really isn't a "best". Players are constantly just trying to force opponents into positions they can't fight in. 27/33 have HOBS. 18c will hopefully be able to use high alpha. 15c is sort of the king of thrust/accel. What is a player doing? There's a plane that does that specific thing well.

>_> I was exaggerating a serious suggestion. We can't have a whole continent, or much of the US( so many private, small airfields alongside big ones..ugh) but I would definitely like to see how far ED can push map size. Or rather, how far they can push DETAILED map size. The caucuses map is nice, but after a while, you just hit flatland. I hate it because towards the NW, we have the only area that could be used as a naval chokepoint aaaand it's not detailed at all. green cardboard.
-
Update the sim with names like we would give to cars( and have given the F-16C). F-15C, model year, block, etc. Now introduce another f-15c with said enhancements.
-
Well aware. A month is kind of a long time in the digital space, don't you think? Not specifically in this case, I mean in general.
-
Hegykc's stuff will launch right along the F-18c. I'm certainly hoping for it. *I worry that the account hasn't been online in a while. it would suck if something bad has happened. The online space is sort of eerie in that accounts remain active( in that there is no real update) long after a user has died in some cases
-
There's also the potential for more interesting radar. GCI, ATC, AWACS, carrier and naval sensors. I'm hoping we see 3rd party features like LoTATC get more expansive and more integrated.
-
Then we need to pressure ED for bigger maps? 8s that what you're saying Bill? 8 can agree to that. A map 2x size of caucuses or bust. We want continents.
-
C-2 Greyhound. Another transport, another USN craft. Bonus if it interfaces with the resource management system, allowing the carriers to send and receive said supplies.
-
I've seen suggestions for the lilliput and various ebay screens, but most of them are just a tiny bit too big. Have we seen any screens available that are closer to the cougar mfd sizing lately? I've been searching but I'm not really coming up with much right now.
-
Right now I'm into modern craft because military aviation was a goal for myself for a lot of my youth. Having an f18, being on a carrier, etc. I love the modern avionics too. If Dcs had ww2 naval stuff I would go nuts though. Battlefield 1942 was my 1st experience with anything near simulation of the SDB . Ultimately though, I think modern craft offer more to do and master. That's more than enough reward for me.
-
For whatever it's worth, I've been debating whether to get a setup now and wait for the f18 module or wait. I'm only flying the su33 and f15c so I'm not needing a lot of input. If I get a stick in a month, it would be the TM. And while I didn't touch on it before, the saitek software is true garbage..

4k+, and no usb. Haha no. Edit: actually, am I missing something? It seems the civilian consumer market moved to USB years ago while govt/mil seems to have stuck to the COM port. It's kinda bugging me...
