Weeeee!! It wasn't a dream! I'm considering some life altering decisions right now. I think would gladly forward all of my porn money into this kickstarter :)
-
F5 just got a whole new meaning! I think I'm loosing it here...
-
DCS and IL-2 Sturmovik combined? Hm... You got this.. just play it cool.. don't pani### HOLY SMOKES!! Are you kidding me with this!?!? Are you kidding me right now!! Is it weird that I have a totally inappropriate response to this.. I mean physically? :music_whistling: *Please don't let this be a dream when I wake up tomorrow*

I will see about the throttle handles. I would like to make them TM compatible, but I haven't gotten around to it yet... And yes, I post my updates here.
-
I was wandering whether I should watch this one or not. Since I love enything space related, thanks for the tip!!

Hi and thanks for the offer. I will keep you in mind. There is a member working on teensy/arduino interface for instruments and I believe he has it covered. I will also use teensy/arduino for stick&throttle electronics. I believe this will do: http://generichid.sourceforge.net/ But I'm sure there'll be questions and problems so I will keep you in mind. Once I make a few hardware prototypes (instruments, sticks&throttles) I'll showcase them to the community and ask for programmers, artists and engineers to come together, so we can make one hell of a product for ourselves!

Correct.

The crash wasn't a shock, I saw that one coming, but the airbag that slapped me out of this world, was :) Thanks for the kind words. This project will require the whole community to come together and put their talents and abilities into one great effort. That is the only way we can have replica controls at consumer prices, which this great simulator definitely deserves. So freeware software, free graphics and art, free web page design, free drawings and reference pictures for development etc. Everybody pitches in, and in turn gets a free set of controls, or sets, depending on the amount of work provided. I will provide free 3D CAD designs for every single DCS aircraft, and will build the machinery needed for production. So that the only costs would be materials, assembly and packaging/shipment. I will contact official parties once I have some working prototypes, so I can send samples and maybe get official support from each module and ED. That would be best case scenario. Worst case, I release all the 3D models so everybody can print them at places that offer online printing services, and release the plans for electronics.
-
International shipping, every DCS aircraft will be included into the lineup. Still working hard, the project is stronger than ever. We have people working on software solutions, graphic and art, contributing pictures and technical drawings, me on the hardware. Just survived a total car crash without a scratch yesterday, so... nothing's gonna stop me now :)

PM sent, enjoy!

I was about to exchange my unused BS2 upgrade key for something else, but wouldn't mind giving it away to an active memeber like you. If you're still interested, its' yours.

Where does one go from within his profile/account to get to this page?
-
Nobody did, and I wouldn't advise anyone to. Because after some consideration I realized that for a little bit more money I can order molds to cast the grip. Working on that now.

No delusion here, I'm not a magician :music_whistling:

Working 2 jobs at the moment, to support building the necessary equipment for this.
-
Yes, arduino for everything. That would be great! A couple of people are working on a solution, as a part of their own projects.
-
people are working on software solution, and I'm working 2 jobs in the meantime, to provide enough capital to buy the equipement necessary to build these things myself. It's happening alright, just a matter of time...
-
Nice progress! But, if this is a commercial project, are you sure you can use DCS name...
-
That is a force sensing mod, to replicate F-16 control stick which has only 1.6 mm of travel in each direction, and the controls respond to amount of force the pilot puts on the stick. Not to be confused with FFB.
-
It'll be 100% custom made. Don't won't to hijack this thread, I'll make my own when the time comes. But when it comes to FFB there's a lot of misconception about what feedback it should include. For instance gun fireing, ground bumps, engine vibrations etc. are not forces one should feel on the stick. With modern jets and hydraulic/electric controls even less feedback, basically just the spring tension, or control loading, which is what professional products use.
-
Ok that explains it. Sure, if you count the work hours as free, you don't need compatibility with the warthog to get extra orders. You can concentrate on the hardware design and production, and when the time comes I'd be happy to help on the electronics part, and implementing FFB...
-
Are you sure this can be done in the warthog price range? I see plenty of machining, bending, engraving etc... I can take care of the FFB, you just need to make the stick connector a 5pin mini DIN like the warthog/cougar so it can attach to my base.

ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)

Huey screenshot overdose. But must see more. -
Thanks PeterP, but the basics are pretty clear to me. I was asking more in the line of, '300 mph - 40 lbs for full aileron deflection' just an approximation would do fine. Same for the elevators and rudders. Only info I've found is 90 pounds for a 5G turn at 240 kias, elevator force obviously. "They concluded that the Mustang was a two-handed airplane in which prolonged hard maneuvering was extremely tiring." ""I could move the stick at high speed without using two hands (P-51B) as I normally would in the D."
