  1. Stick and rudder forces at different airspeeds?
  2. A complete P-51 hotas for the price of a warthog would be a very good deal!
  3. Thanks for the answers. I'll take a stab at this. I'm doing arduino-multiplexers experiments anyway. Just did the CAD drawings for the cdu and got a quote from laser company, 35$ for cutting and material. Not bad at all...
  4. While researching opencockpit forums, I remember someone stating that there are around 2.000 privately held 747 simpits
  5. Great effort Waxi! A couple of questions, for everyone actually: 1) Going with multiplexers, there's no ghosting problems, or problems with more than one buttons pushed at the same time? Would that even be a problem on the CDU? Could you have gone with 2 of these 16 channel chips, and made a 256 button matrix? 2) Would it be possible to use tactile buttons with inbuilt LEDs? just wire them up so they're all ON?
  6. The thing is, this seems to me to be mixing cheap and expensive together and it's a mix few will like. Cheap switches, cnc over laser, fdm printed knobs... and yet very expensive controller, very expensive lcd etc. I actually think the panels are amazing, but with the CDU being 700$, I guess panels will be around 300? But why use fdm printed knobs, which is the cheapest solution possible, on a premium price panel like that. Why not get Deadmans replica knobs which would be what, a 10% increase in cost. Why use a premium price LCD and controller, and then have printed labels on the cdu buttons? Now I have no problem with expensive, it usually means quality and that is what I plan for my pit. But if you're gonna do it commercially I would have thought you would go either one way or the other, pleasing either one crowd or the other. Not right down the middle so that both sides have something they don't like about the product. Anyway, that's just my opinion. I still look forward to seeing sim parts being made...
  7. You have high hopes for 'DCS: laundry room', 'DCS: kitchen' and 'DCS: living room' modules but those are just rumored for now... Plus, are they gonna be 3rd party or really dcs standard...
  8. All due respect, but, how exactly is that cheaper than what's already out there? You really should have pointed out what you consider cheap/affordable. That's a bit more than everyone expected. 2 or 3 times more than I expected actually.
  9. This is going to be a milestone crossed, for pit building! Can't wait to start testing and developing/learning/programming instrument logic.
  10. You need to change your toast bread supplier :D
  11. Apologies frank. I will behave myself from now on :) Now, here's a model I did to Gadroc's drawings. If you wan't to try it on the landing gear panel, pm me your email and I'll send it to you. Here's a thread where I gave it to a member who had it 3d printed (on a proffesional FDM machine so I don't how good the results would be on a hobby machine). For those wanting a more professional look, it can be printed from an online source in smooth clear resin, for around 30-40$ if I remember correctly. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=96870 It can take LEDs up to 10mm, and has a 10x10 mm fitting for an aluminum tube. That can be changed to whatever you need. And what is the button for, on your landing gear knob?
  12. I just can't wait for this to get finalized and see who gets the last laugh
  13. @BubbaMc Yes, DCS has the capability to export simulation data: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/dev_journal/lua-export/index.php?sphrase_id=322678 and Yes, the balance ball and all the other features HSI has, there is 11 motors in there total.
  14. They were talking about bouncing the bullets underneath the trailer tank (tank not as in 'armored vehicle', but tank as in 'trailer fuel reservoir').
  15. Yeah that's what I'm talking about, building for everyone. And everyone means 98% people wanting a cockpit on a budget, and 2% interested in a complete replica. It's pretty clear to me which market a (commercial) builder should choose.
  16. I too don't understand you builders with original components. And then you go on saying there's not enough interest for a more serious production of 200$+ panels... I wonder why. Frank, your plan is as good as gold! Stick to it.
  17. Yep, plenty of super hero stories in some of the accounts. This one just seemed a little less unbelievable. Maybe the Germans made field modifications, putting armored plates on top of the trailers and whatnot... I'm no expert by any means, just saying.
  18. Exactly. As I remember original Il-2 Sturmovik sold 900.000 copies, and I think that's without expansions, but could be wrong. WWII planes have what, 1% of systems complexity of a modern jet. So you could be flying and dogfighting in no time, and that appeals to a much wider audience. Audience that is going to fund those niche products like study sim helicopters and modern jets. I personally wouldn't mind if they made an arcade game, cause that would bring millions of $$$ to spend on R&D for study sim modules. Get in a plane, press "i" to start the engines... Not really comparable to DCS is it.
  19. The commentary is saying that the tanks carried a trailer with a fuel tank in it. And they would leave the tank (armored vehicle) alone, and shoot the trailer, and the fuel tank (container) it carried. Meaning the trailer and the fuel tank (container) weren't armored underneath, so it might have been just a sheet of thin aluminum underneath the trailer.
  20. Oh.. my.. God!! Nice job! Few things in life can make a full grown man smile like a little kid :) And lego's are right there at the top! Lego's are #1 reason I became an engineer. That is THE perfect toy for a child. So many things to learn from it. Life lessons too. Like that, you can create things with your mind, and hard work. And you have to look after them, and many times you have to part with them in order to build new things. Eye-hand coordination exercise, creativity and intelligence exercise and the list doesn't end. And when you get bored with a toy you just built (like all the kids do), you just take it apart and build something new. They don't end up in a old toys box somewhere in the attic. Perfect! Look at those technic models! And now they have that robotics line, you can hook it up to a usb port and program them on your computer, which basically moves the upper age limit completely. From a toy, to a developers design kit, crazy!
  21. What a great announcement! They'll be covering the WWII aviation era! Best next 5 years in sim history? Check! And they have experienced 3rd party developers! And they better have, because we WWII enthusiasts would have become public enemy number one :) It was bad enough with the P-51D, now the new WWII modules would be blamed for everything :)
  22. This: And by 'this' I do mean, I will literally fly Arnold Schwarzenegger into a jungle. I might even chew some tobacco, cause that stuff will make me a god damned sexual Tyrannosaurus, you bunch of slack-jawed f.....:D
  23. Seriously, slow down :) Great craftsmanship. Professional looking, nice and clean.
  24. There was a game I really liked, and it was called 18 wheels of steel. With a massive rig pounding down the highway. Front cover like some blockbuster movie. Now when you see that, you can go, 'oh cool! A truck game!' If you call it a Truck simulator, with nothing else beside it, it better simulate something! Otherwise where do you draw the line? They could have just put cows in there with no vehicles at all, because... Well, you didn really expect a truck simulator did'ya?
  25. Well, I did :) (not a study sim, but at least on othe driving 'simulators' level) My bad I guess :) I knew farming simulator wasn't, but I did think that truck simulator would indeed be simulating trucks. But anyway, in terms of games, good fun, especially for the younger ones. Something different than a special forces team killing everyone on sight :)
