  1. @Zaelu : Aim120 is just useless against Mig-21 if you fire and forget. During a week we encountered F15 with migs above the sea, and they were in a dead end : If they were supporting amraams, they would get a decent Pk but come in R3-R NEZ and get killed. If they were fire-and-forget they amraam, the amraam would never get anyone. In anyway, all CAP i ran over the sea ended in a lot of wasted $ in the sea, along with several F15 wrecks. They would shoot volley of Amraam without getting me. Worst ennemi for the mig is the sukkhoi.
  2. You can't use G in mig21. Landing gear has 3 position. little tip : I use F for Flaps and G for gear. Left Shift for "up", ctrl for down nothing for neutral. So Shift G would be gear up, Ctrl F would be flaps down.... and so on. Nothing hard to remember, or to set.
  3. Side note : F86 had a naval version. I pray everyday we can get it. Still your point is valid. :D

  6. Planes on the ground can be locked with IR. From memory, that includes R3S and R13M1. Unsure about R-60
  7. WARNING : Modifying weapons in DCS may affect your multiplayer games. Several servers do file verifications so you may get kicked. I suggest you do your modification and use it as a mod with JGSME and keep a clean file for MP games.
  8. You should be happy you can't destroy your gear, the emergency lever is not even implemented.
  9. For the sake of realism VS cpu - Infantry should be simulated at squad level like the old Combat Mission, not at single entity like today. Infantry is the top most important thing in a battlefield however it's just not usable as it in DCS. You just can't spawn a division without melting you core. They is a lot of room for improvement. To answer, infantry playable would just be boring. Remember the game level of detail is just a building every 100m of flat land without cover. Even Delta Force 1 would prove better :D

  11. IRL your eyes are limited too ;) The visual search issue will be fixed in september. That's just 3 months to wait.
  12. Mig-21 manual is a pain. The DCS standard layout, presentation, and graphical identity should be followed, like ALL other manuals includings third parties. Mig-21 manual miss most of the point and is more a "tutorial" than a "manual". I always have to ressort to ED forum search for mig-21 references. But... at least, they delivered it in time, unlike some others... :P

Aim-120 is actually quite useless against mig-21*. :music_whistling: With all the F-15 that had been destroyed by Mig-21s, now all Eagle pilots consider us as a very valid thread, and most of them fire 3-6 Amraam in salvo. However with some good manoeuver, they are just useless. biggest threat for Mig-21 is SHORAD and Aim-9. ...oh yeah, and mavericks. I managed to get shot down by 373rd-CRASH with a damn Maverick. He was escorting an F15 that never found me. :thumbup: O.o * disclaimer: valid until you meet an very skilled F-15. They you are just dead.
  14. I have similar problem, but less noticing. Maybe you should try reducing the "preload radius" in the graphical thing. I'm suspecting the computer tries to load too much of the surrounding of the missile and can't do it quick enough. They much be a bottleneck somewhere between your DCS and your RAM. 8 gigs is ok, so it may be a slow harddrive, or a slow motherboard. I'm not much an expert but that's the theory. F10 map view is less painfull on the computer. You may want to use that one to keep track of your allies. Training for formation flight and not using external view may help a bit too :lol:
  15. They is no need to hide in the mountains. With my wingmans, we just go head-on against F-15 now, even above the sea. The Aim-120 just seems incapable of keeping a lock on a manoeuvering Mig. :smartass: And they fired a lot. We spend a week on the 159th squadron (nice team by the way) - by the end of the week the F15 were flying at 100ft to avoid us and the amraam they shoot at us could have been enough to buy the whole country.
  16. Tested against S-125 @2000m @1000km/h - This thing just shoots me at 16km, no matter if it's on or off. Just take a centerline fuel, ECM is wasting the Mig-21 stealth anyway.

  19. It's actually easier to fly against Aim120 equipped F-15 than Sparrow equipped F-15. :music_whistling: I'll be online tommorow at 8 (GMT1). I'll check if i see the server. Probably 4-5 Mig-21s.

  21. How "modern" is that ? The simulator have not a real set timeline but assuming the F15 and the Su-27 are far from being the latest version, is the smoke/absence of smoke pertinent with the game setting ? :huh:
  22. with my mates, we went online on the 159th. For 4 mig lost, we banged 3 F-15 and 2 mig-29..... played in team, this plane is just awesome.
  23. Hi Everyone, For now we fly regulary between 7 and 12 (GMT) around midweek (TU/WE/TH). If you see a [vodka] member, don't hesitate to fly with us. We aren't going to launch anything before september, if we do, because of several facts: -I can't have full time available until late summer, neither my kamov expert. -Squadrons techniques are tested and studied -All the structure to set. -Website in development. I won't enter in the detail yet, but we aim to be a soviet themed squadron, halfway between the 104th Squadron seriousness.... and "Hotshots!" movie. (if you haven't seen that one, you don't even deserve to play DCS :D ). To answer MWD2, we will have our own technique and training material. We are creating them from our experience in DCS, since DCS scope is way different than real aerial warfare. Overall, main focus is to make them easy to learn, and easy to apply without much flying hours, since we aren't flying as much as real pilot do ;) Regarding platform, I expect to have enought interrest to create a Mig-21 squadron, as well as a Su-25A/T and a Kamov. The plan is to have them using their own training course and evaluation, but that people that like switching can pickup several squadron assuming he follows the trainings. Most likely, we'll have one or two month separation for each squadron launch. Of course, everything subject to change - but that's the general direction we want to take. So please be patient, but if you come accross a [vodka] player, that us, send us a message and we'll give you our TS. :) Greetings, Wolfakov.
