When you make a point track a SPI, it’s the spot on the ground that your sensors will slew to, not the target- especially if it’s moving.

Do you know any fighter pilots? Jester’s humor is realistic if a bit repetitive

Obviously that plan wasn’t that great then! -kidding

So what fixes/changes made it in that aren’t in the patch notes? There must be some- there always is.

Concerns about G-Onset and Damage to wings
ricktoberfest replied to ElvisDaKang's topic in Bugs and Problems
Maybe ED should look at a different way to punish over G rather than breaking the wings off. Break the missiles, or pylons, or spring a fuel leak- something that makes more sense than the all or nothing wing break. I’ve given up on the F5 since the wing break mechanic was instituted. Just makes no sense given the lack of feedback leading up to the event. -
Kneeboard shows, but I cannot click on the top tabs.
ricktoberfest replied to Snacko's topic in VAICOM
Pretty sure you’ve never been able to click on the top tabs. You can say “reference page” and it will take you there but no clicking. Some have had issues with the voice commands to change pages lately but that doesn’t sound like your issue. -
It can be real hit or miss. I was running a Vega64 up until recently and the rift s was very buggy with lots of drop outs. Recently upgraded to a 6950xt and it’s been smooth and stable since. Either I had a bad card or the rift s just wasn’t optimized enough and needed the extra power. Before that I tried everything from powered usb hubs to usb-c slots.

Bankler's CASE 1 Recovery Trainer
ricktoberfest replied to Bankler's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Didn’t they fix that last patch? -
I agree. The only mod that I consider even close to realistic is the A4- and that’s because it would be hard to fake the performance when so many have actually piloted it.

How to center the mouse cursor in the VR view?
ricktoberfest replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Virtual Reality
I installed the plugin and it actually works flawlessly. I was expecting it to be more work to install. Thank you very much -
There are such big gaps in its deployment I’m not even sure former sailors could tell you how it’s currently done. Every time they set sail it’s like it’s a new crew. Only so much land based training you can do without a ship to work with. adding here: what do amercan crews do during long duration dockyard stays? I’d assume they just deploy on different ships and same goes for the aircraft crews but I really don’t know if that’s true

How to center the mouse cursor in the VR view?
ricktoberfest replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Virtual Reality
Is it necessary to use a plugin? Is there no native ability to do this within joystick gremlin? -
not realistic for version Missile Warning System
ricktoberfest replied to Viper1031's topic in Wish List
I believe the answer is no. It’s not actually installed in the specific block f16 that ours is modeled after. The buttons are there for export versions that might have it installed as an option. -
That's too bad, just tried OpenXR again today after a BIOS update and the Oculus runtime runs about 10-20% faster on my computer than the OpenXR, in addition to being more stable in tracking
-
Oculus. I tried with openxr but it doesn’t track well or have as good performance so I forced oculus. Why no oculus option? I’m on a rift S

Thoroughly enjoying early access - Thanks ED!
ricktoberfest replied to Dangerzone's topic in DCS: AH-64D
I agree except for 2 points 1. missing basic features like the F16 was initially on release 2. when they change a feature you’ve already learned and now you have to relearn it and get new muscle memory. I found this to be true with the AV8B and I’ve had a hard time getting back into it when they completely changed work flow for several of the systems long after release (I think it was the Tpod) -
[NO LONGER PASSES IC] Improved Contact Dot Spotting (Updated v1.1)

Try it. You can always delete it if it doesn’t help you. -
[NO LONGER PASSES IC] Improved Contact Dot Spotting (Updated v1.1)
ricktoberfest replied to Why485's topic in DCS Modding
It’s unfortunate that something like this is necessary. I actually stopped playing WW2 and early Cold War mostly because of the spotting issues when you don’t have radar to guide you. All we really want is a level playing ground and the fact that some people are saying this gives an advantage to VR, while others are saying the exact opposite shows how much of an issue this is. As a RiftS player I can tell you that spotting at any distance without this mod is almost impossible for me, even when I know roughly where to look. This has made it possible for me to enjoy multiplayer again. -
It is an option, just don’t press the mapped button
-
Those are not enough of an upgrade to buy something at the end of its life. If HP were going to continue in the VR world then maybe I’d go that way, but I’ve already got one discontinued headset, don’t need another
-
I was really hoping that this would be “the one”, but turns out it isn’t. I’m also on the rift S waiting for a significant improvement before I jump to another.
-
Thanks. Didn’t see your reply till now. I wish I had Thea kills to help but unfortunately I don’t. It’s a great product and I only wish the best for the team who is working on it. Makes sense that people are working off-line so it might not show up on the github, appreciate it.

Patch Notes discussion 13th, 21st and 23rd April 2023
ricktoberfest replied to BIGNEWY's topic in DCS 2.9
Exactly, except I’m on Rift S. I find the openxr implementation is more buggy than the oculus. Constantly recenterIng and seems to conflict with oculus ASW -

What about oculus runtime? Is it still not default for oculus headsets? Currently running a registry hack to disable openxr but I’d like to not have to do that.
