It’s your textures. Same was happening to me. Turn your textures to medium. Your GPU is running out of VRAM.

hold laser and press store Storing a Point from CPG LOS (TADS or HMD)

Are you talking about a target point? It’s just point, lase, and press store button -
Gun as a pilot: Shots way to short or too long. in short
ricktoberfest replied to Eisprinzessin's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Your “gunsight” cross doesn’t account for movement of your helicopter. You have to pray and spray a bit. If you watch actual Apache gun footage you can see this too. Not nearly as accurate as you’d think. No CCIP mode. -
You shouldn’t be aligning INS until after engine start anyways. Not sure why your aircraft moves, but I’m gonna say you have a brake or throttle controller issue.

Low expectations- yes. Considering how new and how hard it is to get right from the programmers point of view. Even new games that are created within the timeframe VR has become popular have these same issues. Never mind the fact that DCS is quite old at its core and the VR implementation was never a part of the code until a few years ago. maybe your expectations of 4k VR at 120FPS are what is really not realistic at this time. On any simulator. Hardware is only starting to catch up.

I’m on a phone so won’t try and post links, but it’s pretty obvious just watching Growling Sidewinder’s dogfight videos you often see the missile explode beside the aircraft and then the aircraft explodes. Like was said earlier, it’s not a perfect system (I mean the programming in DCS) so often the missiles don’t explode. There’s also the previously mentioned issue that missiles seem to track the pilot and not the airplane (or at least the cockpit). If you fly the F18 you know this to be true. Pilot kills are 90% of all hits.

They do have them. They don’t always work, but I wonder if the real ones have the same failure rate? Apparently multiplayer sync issues could be a problem for proximity fuses if you’re playing online.

Gotta love how people post to a public forum, then get mad when answered by anyone other than the developer. If they want to talk to the developer they should tag them into the question. Even then accept the fact that others may respond. I for one don’t have a problem with how the F14 behaves on the deck. Seems a good compromise between sticky and sliding.

VR performance with RTX 3060 Ti, 3070, 3080 & RX 6800?
ricktoberfest replied to Er1c75's topic in Virtual Reality
I would turn your scenery details and forest details down to half, that might give you more FPS down low. -
When the cold start videos show up, then I’m gonna assume they’re close.

Did you check if it runs as administrator? I noticed that sometimes it seems to revert back for some reason- maybe a windows update or something.

The problem is, practicing in single player in no way trains you for how it is in multiplayer. The first and biggest thing to learn in multiplayer is how to avoid missiles, and where to fly. Most multiplayer servers are gonna be full of people who just takeoff, fly towards the enemy, launch missiles, and die. There’s no other defense against that short of staying out of the way, and occasionally surprising someone by hiding in the mountains. If you can’t dodge their missiles then you can’t build up the other skills needed to actually get good. I know, I’m often there myself. Takeoff, launch missiles, die, quit in frustration. Try and watch what the YouTube’s do to maintain situational awareness and dodge missiles.

Because it knows how fast it isn’t going!

I mean, imagine if they had this kinda computing power for the “moon landings”. Would have looked way cooler! None of that stupid bouncing around stuff trying to make it look real. /s

VR unplayable with RX 6600 XT (Rift S)
ricktoberfest replied to Thedoc_tv's topic in Virtual Reality
You can try and lock it at 40FPS but leave ASW or reprojection off. Sometimes the reprojection can cause more issues than it solves, but locking it at 40 might even out the spikes. -
VR unplayable with RX 6600 XT (Rift S)
ricktoberfest replied to Thedoc_tv's topic in Virtual Reality
No, I doubt that a bottleneck is the issue with those specs. -

Haven’t seen anybody ask yet but what’s your cpu? You might be bottlenecked by it or your ram. -

Did you try to limit supply in the warehousing for the airports? -
I would say that’s a pretty subjective observation. I have no problems running DCS in VR (rift s) with a vega64 (equivalent to Gtx1080). You just have to have the proper expectation of graphics and frame rate. 40 fps is perfectly flyable

F-14 vs Su-33 | PvP Event | HISTROIC BATTLES SERIES
ricktoberfest replied to dundun92's topic in Tournaments & Events
Ah. It made it look like if you died after takeoff (ie without landing) that you lost 1 point maybe a clearer way to say it would be: each kill worth 1pt oh wait! I see what you mean. Your team loses a point for each aircraft you lose. I thought there would be a gain to the team who brought down the aircraft. My mistake -

Maybe I missed it, but what are the A-A objectives and scoring? Only see the A-G -
I couldn’t. Even when I tried to rebind the keys to something different. The only free-look I could do before was the airport free-look, or after I’d been killed and it went to exterior view.

Haven’t tried it yet, but previously the F11 free cam didn’t work in VR. I’m assuming now it does.
