Well VEAO has the access to the only restored ME-410 in the world and I believe they had the documents/data also. Not sure they are the only ones with access it but I hope they choose it over something like a BF-110. I'm pretty confident that we'll get the BF-110 from someone later down the road.

I've been beating the war drums on VEAO's portion of the forums for quite awhile for the ME-410. This would make a vastly different addition to the WWII library and finally the Mustang pilots would have something to shoot down ...

You shouldn't need flaps to recover from a stall in the Dora. Simply release the stick and let it fall for a quick recovery. As others have said .. you need to maintain your speed or the engine will overheat and maneuvers such as turning or climbing are the reason your overheating. I always would manually open the radiators for a few seconds when entering a turning fight or before I reduced throttle with MW50 turned on.

How similar is the K4 to the G10 or G14
fastfreddie replied to TheJay15's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Give me an 109 F-4 so we can have some mid war fun with the P-40 and Wildcat that should arrive someday. Plus I'd like to see the 109 before she started getting loosing maneuverability. Same goes for the having a FW190 A-3, Hurricane, or Spitfire. -
Relative performance of the Mustang, the 109 and the 190
fastfreddie replied to Reflected's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Fuel shortages, poor pilot training, and the vast numbers of allied fighters would make any late war German plane look ineffective. The gap between the Mustang vs the Bf109/FW190 is not that large that a good Mustang pilot can't be effective. It does some things better than the Dora and other things better than the BF109. It has better high speed characteristics, roll rate, and dive speed than the 109. On par or better than the Dora in dive and turns but not as good of a roll rate. Dora has a slightly better climb rate but nothing that will get you out of immediate trouble. Mustang has a huge advantage over both German planes in visibility. -
You really need to invest in a set of rudder pedals even if you go for a cheaper set (saitek). Your really missing alot with WWII craft, helos, and even the Sabre/Mig 15 if you don't have them. The German aircraft don't have rudder trim so even for straight flight you need to use them. Coordinated turns, hammerheads, etc all require some rudder input. Get a cheap set and fly the free Mustang if you have too or just get the Mirage.

No problem and I look forward to this addition. Just wishful thinking (T-34, transport truck, and a couple of period soviet light AA). Hopefully a 3rd party will step in and make period AI packs at some point for different theaters.

Finished it a couple weeks ago and can't wait to see it in DCS. D-5's running in for flak suppression (love to see DCS model that) while G-2's clean up some armor or convoys. Is Polychop thinking of including an Russian Ai with this release? Ground units with maybe an AI La-5 or something.

DCS: Spitfire Mk LF IXc Discussion
fastfreddie replied to Yo-Yo's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
How close are we getting Sith on the release? I want my P-47 ... -
Agree with YoYo and I'd expect much more if it was released in DCS. Only the NH90/UH60 can peak my interest in utility/multi-role helicopters at the moment.
-
Over a year now since the last WWII release and no Spit/P-47 until mid/end of the year. I'd fly the Wildcat on the online servers at this point if it came out today ... release the Corsair when its ready and ship the map plus extras later.

HORTON Ho229 v4+ by Polychop Simulations
fastfreddie replied to borchi_2b's topic in Polychop-Simulations
Good Luck! If you could put together a DCS Me 163 in your spare time that would be great. -
Well ones things for sure. Our P-51s in game are nowhere as dirty and pathetic looking as those in the pictures.

Mid year now for the Spitfire ... end of the year for the P-47. -
[REPORTED] Damage Model - Governor and Generator.

DM will be looked at and hopefully soon. They need to get coolant, oil, and fuel loss in there first. -

Battle Of Britain Hall closing (Stuka pics request)

Check out JU-87 Dive Bomber to Tank Buster by Eddie Creek They have lots of original photos with close ups and technical drawings from the factory handbook. It also includes a few great cockpit shots of the D-5 showing the front and each side. You may also want to get in contact with the writer to see if he'd let you see the source documents because the book covers all models. -
Bf109 K-4 pre-stall buffeting...
fastfreddie replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
I only question the slat modeling on the K4 because the slats don't seem to have any varying degrees of extension. They seem to always be fully open or fully closed and not independent from each other. Both wings seem to pop out at the same time no matter what and sometimes the slats do more harm than good because the transition from closed to opens doesn't seem to be there. At what AoA and air speed/pressure should they start opening/closing? -
Not yet. We'll see how it turns out when we get some period AI and more craft. Most servers are now just Air Quake with little in ground attack or mission direction. The DOW server is as close to combat missions as we see right now but more realistic missions are needed. Flight model and level of detail with the exception of damage model are there. Need more craft types, better spotting, and period AI/maps to really get this thing going. Unfortunately more of the community flying at the moment think all missions should resemble North Africa battles at their peak and thats definitely not how battles were over Normandy/Europe for the most part.

Isn't the guy a billionaire? I think he was just trying to sell them before he died himself or just depressed because his son died. I'm surprised if his son was such a great aviator they hadn't restored at least one years ago. It seems the guy had a ton of hours in alot of WWII props but it would be nice to see replies from other pilots with time in these frames. We've all seen the articles about stick forces and this seems to back up some of it. One of the planes he sold was a P-51 and they all sold really quick.

 Korean map would make sense for so many reasons and could be adapted for many periods of aviation. Sadly you can't ever find a Korean War server up anymore for the Mig/F-86 so I don't see the Corsair having much of a future in that conflict unless they make a map. I do however think the devs choose the right aircraft for WWII. It saw consistent combat for a long period and through several important campaigns. This developer seems to have a plan and I'll look forward to seeing what opposition they place in this theater.

I don't think they were trying to be smart asses but if your making statements like your the Billy Bad Ass of 109's in your first flight expect some feedback. I wouldn't judge the 109 against AI P-51's or mediocre/poorly skilled Mustang pilots anyways. It is however quite capable against the Mustang in everything except high speed handling and possibly extended dives. I'm sure the Spitfire will shake some things up and hopefully the P-47 will make things interesting also.

Once more Yo-Yo is RIGHT!
fastfreddie replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Why don't you post the questions and answers here for everyone? My only questions about the flight model would of been about the deployment of the slats. -
Try pulling the stick back all the way to the back right while hitting full right rudder (you are using rudder pedals I hope). You will get the effect your probably looking for and a drop of speed of 75-100+ mph. Be careful using this maneuver especially under 1000 ft and to be honest I think that show your referring to makes things look too clean plus some other things that are off from reality to visual effects. This maneuver is really a last ditch effort not to be used often because smart pilot will just simply pull up and return in an even better position. I've had more success with it in the Dora when at higher altitudes where I simply wanted to escape several enemies and could afford to let it stall/descend several hundred feet.

Possibility of other 109 Models as an addon?
fastfreddie replied to IronJockel's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Didn't VEAO have access to a G-2 or something.
