  1. I set up my Thrustmaster Warthog for that function. What HOTAS are you using?
  2. Yes it does. To be honest I'm more impressed with desert areas than Las Vegas.
  3. They may throw a CA type control system in there ... its not very complex.
  4. I wonder how big it will be also but I'm not sure that Ogasawara or any of the others had an airfield. Ogasawara was were George Bush crash landed near and was rescued by a sub before he could be butchered. I can't image that it would take near the effort that the Nevada or Caucasus map required to make.
  5. Took down an AI FW190 by shooting off its vertical and horizontal stabilizers ... the pilot ejected. I did see one aileron fall off an AI P-51 but have yet to see the same damage effects that the Dora gets so far.
  6. It will be interesting to see what there long term plans are for this bird and it may be much better suited for future DCS additions than the F4-U4. It was such a late war addition that its primary opponent was all but finished by the time it arrived on the scene. The F4U-1 was around for quite awhile with the Marines and I believe the British used them before the US Navy even bothered with it. I'm personally happy to see mid-war planes hit the fold instead of everything at their peak. Now only if the Buchon would get canceled for a mid war design .... Oh ... someone please announce the P-38 and Hellcat so the US side is pretty much complete.
  7. Love it so far. My favorite areas so far are the ones not in the Vegas area but out in the desert. Dried up river beds, rocks, etc look wonderful no matter what your flying (heli/WWII fighter). Some people need to step out of the box and try this map. It may not be a WWII or current warzone but plenty of great missions could be made on this map.
  8. I'm a little rusty since I haven't flown the Dora alot in the last year but I threw together a couple of quick matches I ran in DCS 2.0. The external views are shaky since its hard to track both planes at the same time but you will get the idea. Use lag pursuit to get on his tail along with quick changes to the flaps (Up/Mid position) for better lift. Also work with using your rudder to complete maneuvers and throttle control. Hit me up sometime if you keep having trouble and we'll set up a private server. One day I'll get track view for a better representation.
  9. Not that I know of but the Groom Lake AFB and Creech AFB would be perfect for WWII combat. Small airfields about 10 minutes apart with nothing but open/mountainous terrain that I'm sure we can find some type of Algeria/Tunisia missions to throw in there. It will be up to server operators as some are more open to different mission types than others but I'm pretty tired of looking at the Caucasus map at this point.
  10. Why not ... just use the empty area in the NW portion of the map where there are 2 airfields and nothing in between. Its not like we're currently using a map where the Dora, Mustang, and K-4 saw any activity to begin with for those "strictly realist". It may be another year or more before we see the Normandy map so hopefully some servers run desert missions from time to time.
  11. :) It should also be said that you have to be very careful when engaging any groups or pairs of Mustangs online. Most of them are on teamspeak together and have been flying together for quite awhile. Either take one out very quickly or have a great altitude and speed advantage so you can break off quickly. Unfortunately fighting the AI offline will not give you the tools or practice required to be successful online against real opponents. They will use different tactics for dodging attacks that require you to learn deflection shooting and its something that you will need to practice all the time. I haven't flown the Dora much in the last year but you need to use speed, patience, and have great situational awareness to determine what to do next.
  12. Maintain altitude so you can dive away if you get into trouble. Use small maneuvers with the Dora's roll rate to evade the Mustang. Here I video I posted awhile back where I had to evade a pair of Mustangs twice in one flight. [ame] [/ame]
  13. They are probably tied up with DCS 2.0 at the moment but hopefully next year we will start hearing about the map/ground forces and other possible release estimates.
  14. We'll lets just wait to see what they are talking about with price increases. Maybe they intend to bring the Mustang back up to price with its piers. It's like pulling teeth to get new blood in DCS unless they are coming from Cliffs of Dover or Stalingrad. To get into simulations like this have alot of requirements on the hardware side that are enough to deter younger players. I'm sure ED will take a hard look and adjust prices if they start to see a huge slide in sales.
  15. Not the greatest Spitfire fan but that cockpit looks outstanding. May have to use my last Kickstarter key on this one. Really wanted to save it for the P-47 but I'm not sure I can hold out.
  16. Very excited to see the Me 262 fighting with Mustangs, Spits, and P-47s. But you know Sith if your going to start a thread like this it would of been great to see a WIP picture or any word on development. :music_whistling:
  17. I've got no problem with the modules priced at $40-$60 at release and I'll pick up the ones that really interest me. But I've also picked up about 4 other modules that I wouldn't have purchased otherwise unless they were on sale. Some modules will need extra incentives 4-6 months after release.
  18. I don't know that killing off the large sales completely is the best idea either. Modules that have been out quite awhile should be discounted heavily if they want to attract attention. I know that some us will pick up some modules that are a great deal that we would not have gotten otherwise. The biggest problem DCS had was putting newly released products on sale for 50-70%. TBH I rarely have the time to fly all my current modules much less buy fringe items for me like the Mig-21 unless its a great deal. $40 trainer aircraft ... forget about it. If I'm paying $40-50 for an aircraft it had better be of considerable interest to me or be highly complex like a F-15/F-16.
  19. Look under the gameplay tab in options. Avionics Language will also need to be changed from the default.
  20. My thoughts are for the victims of these tragic events. The world seems like it was better off 12 years ago with dictators running things with a tight grip in several countries. Now this disease is spreading to other places.
  21. Blackhawk for me also ... the ride was so much better than the Chinook. Wasn't the NH-90 being done by a 3rd party?
  22. P-38 confirmed then ok.
  23. Yeah trees looked bad and Ai Mustang I flew against was dull (the paint finish).
  24. Didn't notice any changes but I haven't flown lately either. K4 ground crew yells clear now on startup and I thought I noticed some different noises in tight turns under 400km.
