I said I would post results of installing the Scythe-Kama bay cooler, so here it is: First of all, it's a pain to install in a Thermaltake Tsunami case, or probably any case that uses those slide in pins to hold drives in the drive bay. In other words, the cooled needs to be screwed into the drive bay frames. I had to bend the cooler 'brackets' and luckly there are a holes on either side of the drive bays, which the brackets can be screwed into, with a little bit of creative bending. I have seen a drop in idle temps since installing the cooler, of around 5-8 degrees (from between 45-48 to around 40-43. It's not an amazing result, but I guess it will give a little more room for overclocking.. As a side not, I also installed an Akasa exhaust blower, that fits into one of the PCI case slots. I put it just under the 8800 GTS, and the temp for the GPU has dropped around 6 degrees. That may have contributed to the drop in the CPU temps aswell.

No Warning at IR-Missile-Launch?
thereminqblank replied to Earthworm's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
By default the IR jammer is SHIFT-E, I think. I'm pretty sure SHIFT-L is the switch for SU-25's electrics :D -
That is a nice looking case you got there :) The Tsunami is excellent. Think I might got the Thermaltake Armour full tower next time hehe I would appreciate your opinion on the 8800 GTS and its effect on Lock On. I think I'm having some weird issues (nothing too bad) and would like to see if you have the same thing. I agree with ruggbutt on the drivers, but hopefully that will be fixed soon... I took off the side of my case as an experiment, and it dropped the CPU temps by 7-10 degrees! hopefully this Scythe fan will have a similar effect. Then I can start overclocking :pilotfly:

I tried this out Pilotasso and it's really impressive. I thought it would be professional, but it really goes one step beyond that! SO much effort has been put into it! And so far it's been a little more in depth than the original games. For example, I flew out of formation for a few seconds during the second mission, and I failed the mission! That's a pretty neat addition. I will definitely be playing more of it, and keeping an eye out on the progress of SAGA

Well I just ordered this drive bay fan: http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/acc/008/sckb1000_detail.html Hopefully it will make a bit of a difference. I have a Thermaltake Tsunami case and even though there is a big intake fan, it's all the way at the bottom and I don't think very much cool air is getting the CPU. Just hot air from the 8800 and 680i northbridge heatsink! :D I'll post here the results of installing this fan, just in case the info is useful to anyone! Blaze: The 8800 GTS is definitely very nice! But, and this is just my opinion, I'm wouldn't worry about SLI. I installed two 7800GTs just over 12 months ago and I think it's probably better to save the money and upgrade the card every 9-12 months (should you feel inclined to!). Like I said, it's only been just over 12 months before the 8800GTS came out and it spanks the ass of both those 7800GTs!

I was wondering if anyone has, or can point me in the right direction, tracks for some of the missions in the Lock On campaigns? I'm having troubles with BVR and missile avoidance (and just about everything else! haha) and would like to see some example of how to handle the missions. I have seen Ironhand's video of the Flaming Cliffs Mission 1 and the SU-27 mission 1, but would like to see more.

lol...too late!! Went out and bought one a couple of hours later. But it wasn't just for BS, that was just an excuse ;)

I'd like to see the game fullstop :D -
Are you wondering about how the Trackclip Pro fits onto headphones with a thick headband? Just to give you an idea, I am using the Clip on Sennheiser headphones that have a headband that's almost 1 centimetre thick. The Clip attachment has a spongy type thing that should help it clip onto headbands of a variety of thicknesses. I find the Clip gives a slightly more responsive TrackIR experience. And using it also means that you don't have to wear a hat for long periods of time!!

Takeoff and landing directions
thereminqblank replied to 4c Hajduk Veljko's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
If you use the comms to request taxi to runway, do you not get a reply like "Roger, taxi to runway XX"? I'm assuming you want to know where to taxi to after starting on the parking apron? When landing: The Russian aircraft have the ability to change the RTN point to other runways. the RTN point should give an indication as the direction of landing. The ILSN point in Nato aircraft should indicate the direction of landing. I am sorry if this is not what you were asking, not trying to patronise you! :) -

Another Saitek x52 question

I don't think this option is available in v1.02. No option for using rotaries to control pitch either. It did become available again in v1.1 -

Help with a new system for BS

To be honest, I didn't understand a word of what that post was saying on the notebookreview forum link. I think it was about optimisation for dual core processors. I've never heard of it before, and did not have to do it for my processor to work! -

That's pretty good news if that's the case! I was just going by the recommendations at slizone.com. Another option is to just wait for a couple of months. Supposedly, nVidia will be releasing more affordable entry and mid-level Geforce 8 cards in the first quarter of 07, and the same for Intel quad cores...
