  1. Yeah I did the same but then you need to faff about with it wehen you're watching/playing something else. I wish nVidia would include colour/brightness/contrast etc in graphics profiles.
  2. I haven't noticed any visual difference between on or off.
  3. That's the downside of 'flat' shadows - they're not really being projected. 'Default' shadows overcome this but cost more fps. I hope at some point all the terrain shadows are softened down a bit like in other sims *cough*IL-2*cough* and/or respond to anti-aliasing.
  4. I have exactly same CPU and a Palit 1070ti. You'll love it (if you can find one at reasonable price)
  5. I think it looks overdone because v2.5 colour saturation is overdone. Not as bad as 2.2 but still too much.
  6. I use an S curve at 45 (in the DCS axis tuner), works fine. It also helps if your throttle's a touch sticky.
  7. Yes, the range you use for refuelling :)
  8. Try a curve on your thrust axis, just like one you'd apply to your pitch, roll, or yaw. It essentially gives you a zone of reduced throttle response - ideal when you're hunting for a particular speed.
  9. +1 Maybe like this in future? (x-plane)
  10. +1 I've had this a lot tonight - long black screen on exit; sometimes requires killing in task manager.
  11. I know it's 60 years ago and in the USA but here's a clip of F-100s bringing their chutes 'home'. @5:55
  12. The Su's cockpits remain incredibly bright even in the shade at very low light levels. Sorry if it's already being tweaked, just looks really weird.
  13. In 2.5 the detail level in mirrors has been reduced to basically 'terrain only' but I love them. For me using mirrors in previous versions introduced an awkward stutter that was independent of frame rate. That seems to have been solved, presumably down to the reduced detail? While this is a thumbs up from me I realise it won't be welcomed by all. So my wish is that if/when more detail is re-added to mirrors there is an option to choose between levels of detail.
  14. all those chickens I sacrificed did not die in vain!
  15. Something I noticed only tonight is that the water reflections are actually really nice....but only at very close range. Beyond a couple of hundred meters the resolution gets stepped down and looks very blocky. So all ED need to do is let us use the best reflection resolution for most, if not all, visual ranges; assuming there's no terrible fps hit.
  16. This can happen if you change AA settings during a session. Restarting DCS should bring everything back to normal.
  17. I was speaking generally, not specifically. "runs smooth until i start bombing stuff" could, without irony, be DCS's catchphrase.
  18. I'm with you on this. I'm firmly in the camp that suspects that many of the familiar stutters that have plagued ED games (since back in the LOMAC days!) are related to the sound engine. Rockets hitting the ground, bombs exploding, an aircraft being hit, contacting ATC, ejecting, crashing....all these events, at least the first time you encounter them during a session, cause DCS to stutter. They have at least one common denominator - they trigger a sound file.
  19. You'll see it when you transition from flying over a bright yellow corn field to a darker one.
  20. This is with RBK-500AO
  21. Same here but I think it might be deliberate rather than a bug, at least until 2.5 gets a good shakedown.
  22. Cars and coaches cast no shadows. Trains cast shadows only when using 'default' shadow setting (although with a very short visual range). Military units seem OK. e: Nevada is OK, Georgia bad. Not sure about Normandy.
  23. If you change AA settings during a session you need to restart DCS or you'll see this. Happens with mirrors too.
  24. Looks like original Falcon 4.
