  1. Route mode can be engaged even when the PVI-800 isn't providing waypoint information; you just continue in a straight line. But when used like this the 'Route Mode' indicator lamp in the overhead-left panel does not light up - Bug or feature? In a similar vein, 'Altitude Hold' works just fine in Directors Mode but for some reason the indicator light on the panel extinguishes - Bug or feature? On the UV-26 it is written 99_-AUTOCONTR Seeing that you can't input a '9' as the first digit it makes little difference but what is/was this for? My guess is that flares would dispense automatically on being lased by an enemy (which would be very handy).
  2. I believe even if the radiator is fully closed it isn't actually closed - only that the flap is fully retracted for minimum drag. With the radiator 'closed' and at high throttle/RPM settings you can barrel along quite happily provided you keep the speed (and the airflow through the radiator) high. At lower speeds closing the radiator will cause all sorts of trouble. I do a lot of P-51 1v1 practice and the engine will usually withstand 15-20 minutes of rolling scissors at full power before conking out, but it's incredibly easy to go vertical, have the speed drop to zero, forget to reduce throttle, and then *bang* the engine's popped due to no air going through the radiator.
  3. You're not alone, I did exactly the same thing..... https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=197628 Just remember 'green-green' for cruising around.
  4. Here's a video showing the sudden light changes.... The light being reflected from the ground into the cockpit seems to be quantized hence the noticeable discrete steps in strength. Also there is a delay - even after you've crossed a coastline and are over the water the cockpit is still 'glowing' yellow from the field you just left behind. Lastly the effect is much too strong. On reflections in DCS I'll just repeat my view from the previous thread - Until we have the horsepower to model reflections properly we are stuck with painting textures on canopies. And as long as we are stuck with painting textures on canopies we need to dial them back to almost invisibility because otherwise any illusion you were attempting falls apart immediately. You can just about get away faking the reflections of objects very close to the canopy with something subtle like this..... But this.... Yikes. One solution would be adopting the technique used on the MiG-21. The canopy is textured with an amazingly subtle but effective 'dust' layer that catches the light beautifully but never looks fake. Of all the DCS modules it's the only one, in my opinion, that convinces me I'm looking through something at the outside world. I hope something like that can be adopted for future modules (and refitted to the older ones!).
  5. I'm tired of the incredibly drab traffic.
  6. A button that will automatically populate the channel list in the mission editor (and the channels in the aircraft) with airfield frequencies. For those aircraft with less available channels than extant airfields then it could populate itself with the closest airfields to the players' spawn point; perhaps only friendly or neutral airfields etc - he can edit them further as necessary. It saves having to hand edit them all when you need something quick/basic.
  7. I just tested - in the mission editor you need to input Nellis's frequency (327) into the channel list. Then it's just battery on, radio to T&R, channel to whatever you put Nellis in and away you go.
  8. Just to +1 this....flying around in the Mi-8 the fps was great fun until I got closer to land and my fps tanked badly.
  9. Try with mirrors off (if they are on). On my machine even when my fps are locked with V-sync using mirrors will cause a stutter, most noticeable while panning around.
  10. Thanks for the info - In the past I always used the 'Central' mode, yet after a summer break and re-install I discovered I was using the 'Default' mode without noticing anything amiss (aside from rusty technique).
  11. I have a feeling it will be fixed in time for the release of Modern Air Combat.
  12. This goes for all Heli modules. In the special options are 'Default' and 'Central Position Trimmer Mode' identical?
  13. I think you need to keep the engine revs above XXXXrpm for the radio to work....or is that something else.
  14. Are you in Flight Director mode? If you're in Flight Director mode the R-ALT HOLD indicator goes out (top left panel) but I think it still works in the background. Flight Director mode is great for flying around in but if you want to engage all the sexy stuff like the auto-hover you need to turn it off.
  15. Might be relevant.... https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=219533
  16. Yeah, your sitting too far back. Use RCTRL + RSHFT + NumPad * + / to shift forward and back.
  17. While I'm certainly not a fan of 'factory fresh' offices, I think I prefer the current one to the one in the new images. Yes it's WIP and maybe seeing it in-game will make all the difference, but I hope there will be an option to keep using the current cockpit.
  18. Just tested - CCIP is working fine, but as Akula said you do need a very steep angle to see the CCIP pipper.
  19. I'd go on a date with Alice and Charlie if they are out there.
  20. So am I! :) If this is legal we'll have to find compatible partners.
  21. Alice wants the Ka-50. Bob wants the Huey. Charlie wants the Mi-8. David wants the Gazelle. Bob, Charlie and David give Alice $17.50. Alice buys the Helicopter Pack for $69.99. Alice contacts ED Support and asks to gift the Huey, Mi-8 and Gazelle keys to Bob, Charlie and David respectively. Is this allowed?
  22. Sadly we are destined to fiddle with it :joystick: Thanks for the info!
  23. A lot of random stuff in DCS got broken with the jump to 2.5 and it'll take a while before ED and the 3rd party developers are able to catch up. BST have been full steam with the Hornet lately but now it's arrived there might be more free time to revisit and fix their existing modules (fingers crossed).
  24. How does the 'S' version differ from the 'P'? (sorry if it's already been asked & answered)
