Any news if this is being looked at? It's un-playable unless you go through this Core 0 ritual every mission.
-
True, but then problem is AI, not the plane.
-
Both left and right sides keyboard controls are reversed. INCREASE = DECREASE and vice versa. Also, if this gets a fix would it be possible to decrease the gain a touch? They're very hard to fine tune.

Mark as solution.

The Spitfire's gunsight reticule has a very limited range of illumination. This becomes a problem in low light conditions - it remains very bright even at its dimmest setting. Every other DCS warbird has a full range of adjustment, only the Spitfire suffers from this. The Mosquito's gunsight is, as far as I can tell, operating on exactly the same principles as the Spitfire's and yet look at the difference. mozret.mp4 spitret.mp4 As you can see the Spitfire's 'night mode' is pretty useless. Is it behaving correctly? And if not, could it be brought in line with the Mozzy's?

It's the default view. e: If you shift the pilot to the left to 'correct' it, you move off the plane's centreline (note the amount of daylight either side before and after) Follow the line....

The 'Early' is fine but the 30 & 40's gunsight is offset to the left. Is this realistic? I can't fathom any reason why it would be like this in real life.

Instead of toggling Core 0, try the other cores. Others have had success doing this; I just happened to get lucky with Core 0. Are the devs aware of this? Is this a side-effect of the push towards multi-threading? Will it be fixed?

Single monitor here. The problem seems to be related to proximity to units (aircraft, ships etc). I don't know whether it's to do with texture loading, LODs, or whatever. Here's another video showing the issue (and fix). I fly past a few aircraft and it's a stutter-fest. At 2:10 I disable Core 0; re-enable Core 0; and then do another fly-by. Fixed. Beautifully smooth.

Try this. 1. Go to Misc. Options and ensure you have enabled saving of snap-views. 2. Jump into cockpit of aircraft and use Right Shift * and Right Shift / keys on the keypad to adjust your field of view (Zoom) to taste. 3. When happy hit RALT and Keypad 0 to save FOV. 4. Go into Controls and find these lines... 5. Bind Zoom In to a button on your controller, and bind Zoom normal to the 'button-off' function of the same button. This will let you zoom in for as long as the button is held. 6. If you want Zoom on an axis instead then bind it in the Axes tab.

Exactly. You'd think 'turning it off then turning it back on again' would be too much of a meme to be true - but here we are.

Thanks for the tips, MK, but I tried that already. Ralphidude (i think) on Youtube had a video claiming it was his 'silver bullet' but it didn't do anything for me. The problem seems to be related to proximity to units - a free-flight on a bare map is almost stutter free. Toggling Core 0 fixes it completely, so the solution lies in something DCS is doing (or not doing).

This stuttering was happening pre-patch but it's worse now. CPU 7600K@4.4ghz, Radeon 6700XT 12GB, 32GB RAM, Win 10 First half of video shows performance - it's a juddering mess. About halfway through (1:54) I pause DCS, go to CPU affinity settings in Task Manager, turn off Core 0, hit OK; turn it back on, hit OK; and then I return to DCS - which now plays flawlessly; smooth as glass - watch the frame time graphs. This procedure needs to be done on every mission load or it reverts back to stuttering. e: this is happening with both default .exe and .exe in mt-bin folder. May God have mercy on your souls.

The helicopters and some jets have a slider to tune cockpit vibration to the player's taste; it really enhances the flying experience and I think the WW2 aircraft would benefit greatly from the option.
-
I want somebody who sounds like Joanna Lumley to vector me in, wish me luck, and then weep as I plummet into the Channel.
-
Check also you don't have 'take-off assistance' enabled in the Dora's special options - you might inadvertently be fighting against it.

I'd love a DCS BoB....and I look forward to the Pacific venture....but I've not seen much evidence that ED (or 3rd party devs) are too interested in producing a fleshed-out WW2 theatre/plane-set. Right now we have a barely coherent (if you squint hard enough) European theatre plane-set that has taken a decade to produce, and no indication that the glaring omissions, whether they be variants or types, are on the drawing board. Were it not for Mag.3's Corsair the 'Pacific' (in reality a single map) would have a single flyable; the Hellcat. Maybe we'll get a Zero in the future. And then what? Does anyone honestly see a flyable Helldiver, Dauntless, Betty, Kate on the horizon?

Found a temporary fix while scouring Youtube for answers. The video below starts with the whole stuttering mess on full display. Halfway through I pause DCS, go to DCS's affinity settings in task manager, turn off Core 1, turn it back on again, and then go back to DCS and un-pause. HALLELUJAH - beautifully smooth gameplay! Unfortunately you have to go through this ritual every time you start a new mission, but it's infinitely better than nothing. Hopefully the next patch will cure this for ever!!?? Here's the video that broke the case wide open, so to speak. Many thanks to cptVLK for the solution in the comments.

Couple of threads that asked about MIDI support

Be careful before you buy - I don't know about this one but I've looked into similar button boxes and the rotaries aren't truly analog axes; turning them left or right simply presses a keyboard key, so you'd still be at the mercy of over-sensitive controls.

Is the Anton(or warbirds in general)programed differently
Lixma 06 replied to Gunfreak's topic in DCS: Fw 190 A-8 Anton
The Doras do the same in my missions so the FW AI might be identical. -
Doesn't take long to find Youtube videos full of this kind of thing. I'm sure at times WW2 pilots would have loved to have no skull above the eyebrows and an extendable neck; it makes pulling lead against a target under the nose so much simpler. But they didn't. It's not confined to FW-190 pilots by any means but it does highlight how the un-realistic head height limits, or lack thereof, are being exploited.
