  1. Hi just some things that I personally miss in DCS and I think would really help with this type of burnout: 1. Aircraft setup / Mission cards: even when doing small/short/airstart missions there is a lot of fatigue by doing simple settings again and again. For example setting up countermeasures etc. in most western planes there would be mission cards where you can set up most 'computer' things. Other stuff may be taken care off already by ground crew etc. Something along the lines of being able to set the aircraft in a specific specific state, for example A-10C: Cockpit lights set up as preferred, CDU set as desired, HUD functions as desired, weapon profiles set up&selected etc. Especially for training transferring an aircraft state would be awesome, but if there was a feature like this, it would be amazing for story-missions. 2. ^ In relation to this: Somekind of mission saving mechanism for sp missions. 3. Camera/general story-tools for mission builders, maybe something to force your camera/head tracking into a certain location, maybe even something gamey to highlight something in the world to make you focus it. I had some missions when starting out with DCS that were really action packed, but with DCS spotting/visuals you often missed most of it. DCS reality in this is, that you need be zoomed in maxx at whatever you want to see. Add to that speed/alt/range and chances are whatever nice visuals the mission builder hat in mind, you missed most of it. 4. Why the hate for arcade? I don't really play SP missions anymore, because as OP, in DCS I find them very boring and repetitive. There is a bunch of fun and 'arcade' scenarios/missions that could be great fun. I think we all miss out because this community is a little stuck in it's own elitism about 'hardcore flightsimTM'. :) Think a MP gun arena server, mission builders go to a lot of trouble to build missions and code scripts for this type of scenario. That is no mission anyone of you will harp on about realism with a straight face. Stuff like that shines a little light on what DCS is missing on the 'game front' I think. Also more scifi/fantasy/fictional scenarios! People often try so hard to be super realistic, but at the end of the day, somebody here can always nitpick something apart in your mission and burst your realism bubble. Is there finally a timetravel scenario where my A-10C pilot has to assist in Nomandy landing? Defend Vegas against hordes of nazis? Brb gotta check out Star Wars mod... :joystick: --- To OP, I get your general frustration with SP campaigns/missions in DCS. My advice is, drop them completely and only play MP, that is where the meat is at in DCS anyway. Humans will always fight differently, missions are mostly setup in a way that won't make the majority rage if they die and on the other hand if you want a mission that makes you fly a long time to a target, there a servers for that aswell. Sadly in MP you will have other problems, teamplay/skill level of your team is random, netcode/desync/warping problems, mission/server problems, problems with your own internet connection to serverhost etc. etc. Please don't think frustrations are limited to SP lol.^^ I love DCS to death myself, but you can't deny there is often a lot of problems. ED is a small company and at this point I have retreated on the position that I will be happy with what I get and if it doesn't work, I will patiently wait for it. Even is that is sometimes never. Take a break for a few weeks/months, this helped me through DCS burnout and reignite passion for flightsims in general. Just don't do the same thing again and again if it isn't fun. You don't have to!

How do you arrive at this conclusion? How do you make that leap? This decision making process reveals a lot. If there is a interview tomorrow with Merkel and she is asked "Do you think Hitler is still alive on the moon?" And she blabbers the same answer, does this mean there is now a chance some truth is behind this? Because of trademark 'who knows?'

You know... scientific method, physics etc. all that fun stuff. =) Edit: Also, everyone can believe in whatever he wants. There are some very endearing view points in here. Some simple fun. Some philosophical stuff that certainly has a place. But a lot of scary stuff aswell. And I mean scary as in, people believe it, and more importantly, how and on what people base their believe on. That has to do with 'media competency'. (Medienkompetenz in german, don't know if it translates well) When people do bad with that, it's always scary. Actually maybe this proves alien life. We might aswell live on totally different planets.

    This is pure gold.
  7. Ich bin verwirrt, du meinst nicht die alte version 2.0 von Nevada zwischen 1.5 und 2.5?
  8. I think the briefing is bigger than what ingame DCS allows. Alt+Tab to go to desktop... You don't go to DDCS and Buddyspike and tell them to post the SOP in the briefing, right?
  9. Not flying much A2A combat for years because of this. I recommend looking through the other (very very long) debates, there is a bunch of issues that meet in spotting complaints and they often get mixxed together. A very complicated topic but also very important. When you look on twitch etc. you will also see most of the community working around DCS spotting issues with very much unrealistic zoom. I think it also plays into this a bit, people have been playing DCS a certain way, got used to engine quirks etc. and don't want to try anything else.
  10. Sorry but no, I don't. :) I want to jump in from time to time and if there is not atleast a english cockpit mod I can tell you right now, other modules that have translated cockpit options will be my go to. I have nearly all DCS modules and believe me it already gets murky between a few Nato modules for me. (Where what is, what it's for etc.) It's fun to mess around a bit for now, but after the initial fun wears down a bit, it's going back to the shelf until I can read the cockpit. =)
  11. I disagree, really need it.
  12. Couple of things, I am a little uncertain if it is even okay to post this now. But the thread and forum user are named in the court documents anyway, I hope this is not a further breach of privacy. The thread is actually still archived here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=76003 For me, it reads very plausible that this is not a state sponsored spy act, but rather childlike naivety in the face of real danger. You can read it in the interaction especially after post #6. Yes, after the fact you can argue how you could have seen this coming, but can everyone of you honestly look into the mirror and say they couldn't **** up like that? I don't know about ED, I guess for them this is a nightmare on many levels, but anyway I still would like to support the guy. Even if it is only knowing that people out there believe him & think of him, even if it is only lip service from another continent. But sitting there, in another country, with a huge prison sentence over your head, can only be terrible experience on every human level. So before you guys post callous stuff, please consider what this means, for a human life, friends, family, colleagues. Another thing, from the linked legal document page 7: "e. from January 1, 2012 through September 17, 2015, TISHENKO repeatedly auctioned F-16A flight manuals, including the F-16A Fault Reporting Manual and the F-16A General Vehicle Description, on DVD to individuals located in Cyprus, Japan, Netherlands, Australia, Germany, and Taiwan." <- Typos my own. Could this actually mean there might be more people caught up in this / target of the investigation?

    Trim?

Personally I would have no problem with an option (enforcable by admins in MP) to have some kind of cheat function, either trim or even very simple autopilot. From my point of view in the DCS sandbox there are a lot of situations where such a function is justifiable. Take a freeflight scenario for example, you are in MP, a casual server where such a function would be no problem for other pilots, suddenly something IRL comes up. You can not go afk, pause etc. but would it really kill anyone if there was some kind of relief? But I would advocate this for many more modules aswell, not even considering the lack of trim in this plane. Again, enforcable by mission editor/ admin, no danger for 100% realism servers.
  14. Get well soon Wags-Chan! <3
  15. Despite all the whining, this is going to happen. :) Really looking forward to GA planes and ED & 3rd party devs have proven they don't care about the small vocal part of the community that demands 'my way or the highway'. IMHO it's only a matter of time that we see one of the iconic GA planes and probably even bigger stuff. Also: I vehemently dispute that X-Plane flightmodel is in anyway better than DCS flightmodel or better suited for GA/Civillian flying. In fact my experience is the opposite. And I am talking about DCS module price level studysim payware. Not. Even. Close. Let's face it, every argument you guys make against 'other then my preferrred type of airplane-in DCS', can be easily countered. I have not read anything yet in this thread or any other before, that holds up to any scrutiny. And I have to say, if you look at it this way, there is only a lot of toxic air left. Yes you lot are playing DCS differently, hold different things in higher regard then the player next to you. Supposedly most don't even care for MP. If a few of these vocal chaps had their say, we would not have any kind of WW2, probably no hueys/mi8 (can't really fight!!1) and def. no trainers/aerobatics planes. Modern planes, carrier ops etc. I love it like the next guy, but that does not completely satisfy my aviation needs. The 'other sims' mentioned don't either for various reasons. ED & 3rd party devs have proven that different modules don't take away from one thing but rather add to the whole, making this a good thing. Sorry if DCS is not going in the way you guys like, for me personally it's looking better than ever! =)
  16. This is great to hear, could we hope for this to be added in the next open beta ver. already? In any case thanks, I love all my community cockpit mods!<3
  17. Just want to add, it would be great if this was optional, since personally I tend to kill my engine with clickable throttle by accident. But thumbs up for users that don't have idle detent buttons!
  18. The thing that forces everyone to spam Tapatalk ads in signature? No thanks.^^
  19. Hi there, been using ED forums a lot on mobile (Chrome&Firefox) and gotta ask, is there a mobile version that I am missing? If not, could it be possible to set up a version of the forums able to read on mobile devices better? Am I alone in missing this? Did a small search to see if this came already up, if so direct me please. Thx!
  20. And to get back on this, this does not concern ED in anyway. ED has human moderators, that are quite capable to sight and sort any posted content. That is not possible for say, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter etc. they will be forced to, by sheer amount of content, to use software (filters) to categorize content. This will be where users will directly experience issues, since the machine (unlike ED mods hopefully^^) will not be able to distinguish between satire, comedy, changed content, memes or simple straightfoward copyright infringements. Will be different once flightsim is great again and we have millions of users here! /Have a dream
  21. Try on the MP servers with the huge missions. :)
  22. Hi flightsim fans! <3 Could use some advise on GPU purchase to upgrade my system. Been holding this off for the longest time, because of all the crypto & prize hogging madness the last years, but I think it's really time now. Technically I am below DCS specs now, only the 4gb vram carry me over. xD Current specs: i7-4790k @ 4ghz on a Gigabyte UD4H MB 32gb ram & SSD Nvidia 760 @ 4gb vram I probably would like to stick with Nvidia, simply beause I somewhat understand the naming of their cards and what I would be getting lol. I gather that the old 'nvidia better for DCS' is not really up to date anymore. Currently my monitor is at 1080p, no VR, but I think at this point you have to consider rising monitor resolutions? What my big problem is, I am unsure how in terms of 'cost-benefit', all the old & new cards line up. Should I go for an older used card and wait for prices (of new cards) to drop further? If yes what kind? For example right now 1070 seems very cheap here in germany, but there is new 1660ti(?) I have read tops this in some charts? I am dirt poor, so this is big decision for me, have been saving for a long time. Absolutely not willing to shell out more than say ~320€, but even less would be way better lol. Sorry if these are all stupid questions, I only ever really get into hardware stuff when something needs to be upgraded, and when you return to it after years, all your knowledge is outdated. =( Thanks for your advice in advance. -Apo
