  1. Jumped into MiG21 yesterday, after reading this thread. Yes way too dirty, no mod is not a solution. For example, try using clean canopy & english cockpit and suddenly everything is not as easy anymore. Please give us a special tab option for this atleast.
  2. I think it depends on the aircraft you are trying to fly. Some still are not updated to new lights? F18 with modded NVG for example is great already.
  3. Hi, 104th running LotATC and I had now the first time to really check it out in a live setting. I really love it and it really worked great in live-pvp but there are some minor and big issues still to be worked out. 1. The UI, menus, 'make doc', 'make dialog' -> 'miniminze/maximize' options etc. are really confusing. This just goes against some basic windows behaviours I have ingrained. There are probably some people out here who could better articulate the issues here, but I will try anyway. All these docked/minimized windows, why not open/close them via one click? I don't really like the drop down menu's for the docked items either. Every menu and similiar, I want to be able to quickly and intuitively close. I don't know if it is just new, I don't see the hidden value yet or something, but the first start was very jarring. Doing some basic options and customizations like for any software was suddenly a chore. 2. Sounds small but is a huge issue for me: In CA/ F10 Map DCS I can 'right click to set the ruler initial point' -> move it to the edge of the map 'left click' and move the map (sofar possible in LotATC) -> and THEN move the ruler (that is still@the initial point) to the new position of the map and get desired bearing&range. The last point doesn't work like that in LotATC, you have to press and hold the right mouse button to get the ruler to stay (which I like!), but once you get to the edge of the map and move the map, you can't set the ruler to a new position (with initial point still set) as you would expect on ingame F10 map. I don't know if that is somekind of limitation with the LotATC map/coordinate stuff, I certainly observed some weird behavior while playing around with that. (in terms of where the ruler 'started' and 'arrived') 3. I had a single flight that was undamaged (hornet so maybe beta issue) that I just couldn't see on LotATC. F10 CA I could see him, absolutely no idea why there was an issue. I visually checked all the other flights with F10 map & LotATC and that was the only flight I couldn't see (on LotATC). 4. UI Bug / change size of UI: If this is set below 1.0x/1x (@1920x1080p for me), if you open one of the colour menus, like for labels, objects etc. you are not able to close it! UI size below <1 = https://imgur.com/a/euVFkMM 5. Idea/Suggestio UI: For all the label/object/symbology & colour customizations, have a preview next to it how it is going to look. I think this would really help if you are trying to setup first time, especially if you don't have a nice mission/server where you can preview it. 5a. Maybe there could be some kind of 'dummy' or 'test mode' where just a bunch of contacts, varying by realistic setting, fly around you can test around your settings? Love LotATC, I see a lot of potential here, and I promise a lot more feedback and nagging about small and big stuff. Don't regret the money all the years ago at all! <3
  4. Thanks and happy 4th july! Will troubleshoot this in a few hours. No flight before sleep, damn! ;)
  5. Am I the only one? Ping to the address is fine. If I am alone with this i will make a thread in bug section. But if servers are busy please chime in. :)
  6. Getting 404 not found on Beta branch, no update on release.
  7. Not exactly newsletter, but incase people didn't see it, Wags posted this video today:
  8. Collision model status??
  9. One idea I got while making the big track to the tankers: Maybe you could offset shell/texaco 1&2 so one is always heading towards you and one away from you? Basically start one with the route already halfway done. Also would be great if some briefing pictures would make a comback. One basic overlay of friendly/enemy Airbases & TA's, one for Carrier/East tanker tracks, one for feet dry tanker tracks etc. Doing some GCI I couldnt help to notice the total lack of coverage for a lot of parts of the map, is there something that can be done about that, or is it still the old 'GCI can only see what clients see'-thing? TTI-Server has those cool ingame kneeboard pages, have you considered those for frequencys etc.? I really grew to love those! I know it's a lot of work, especially to keep them updated and maybe they are too big. But the kneeboard is for glancing at info even better than the briefing. At that point big props for the briefing! Very thorough. Only things I can think of to improve there, is at the AWACs part, would be great to know which callsign they have... And MGRS coords for the Deepstrike targets. Thanks again to Mustang for pointing me to the F18 NVG mod (http://www.mediafire.com/file/74kqmlku2i00ekl/FA-18C+NVG+Mod+for+2.5.2.18736.zip) I had great fun in the night-mission. Maverick I heard you hurt your back I hope you are fine. Growing to love OP Clean Sweep more and more!
  10. Somebody mentioned looking at the training mission files and the triggers, with a look to all the different DCS modules and the different unexpected issues that might arise, I want to repeat my suggestion from my thread. While I agree that text messages in tutorials should stay longer, this is only a bandaid and doesn't address the overall issue. Text messages (not chat) that are used in missions of any kind, should be logged and viewable somehow in the sim. This problem extends to a lot of official&user content, the time it takes a user to read something is different for every person, so adjusting the text times only won't have the desired effect. A mission text log on the other hand would help in all scenarios.
  11. Any chance for more helicopter stuff? I kind of want to build (radar) SAMs around the target areas to defend strikers. Poor (blue) strikers have it bad a lot of times, but I am a big friend of Transport/A2G cooperation to secure areas. Radar SAMs since I think transport placed IR sams are always quite annoying and don't kill me for using the word, unfair. My reasoning is, that most airframes either on their own or by cooperation can get a rough location on a radar SAM in advance. While an IR SAM most often just suprises somebody from a blind spot. Alteast for securing areas via CTLD I think this is sensible. There could also be transport jobs around the map that could do various things, like repair a destroyed asset, unlock new ones, knock something out from the enemy etc. Just some stuff for the future, I guess there are other prioritys first, like Hornet flying. :)
  12. Squirrel that is nonsense, for control purposes there are a lot of 'non realistic' work arounds. From toggle to cycle, clockwise/counterclockwise, axis that work differently etc. That is just the reality of flightsimulation and real life / hardware / budget constrains. Please consider what you are actually implying here: "You can't use axis XY on your HOTAS because REALISM!11" :D
  13. I second this. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=210231
  14. With the abillity to see friendlys on the F10 map there is no excuse in most cases. If you are not 100% sure, you don't shoot. :)
  15. Just now the tanker nr4 (TCN 34x) was super slow while tanking with the Harrier. Even with idle engines I was faster than him, is that normal? (I had only aim9&<1k fuel left) In the end I had to eject. edit: Just to add my little story on this, my first real night mission in the Harrier... While I dabbled a little before, that was with really screwed up ingame lights... F18 without NVGs and sensors seemed a little too scary, so I went with the Harrier. Take off from a Tarawa slot, np, Airborne, let's go WP2! ... Reality caught up quickly. On the F10 map on spawn the coast didn't look that far away but I realized quickly my tiny tanks wouldn't get me ~110nm to the TA. Poor to none flight planning, damn! Allright! A2A refueling, at night for the first time, under stress and knowing that I could never strike at the WP without topping off. Flying & navigating with screwy not adjustable NVGs was terribly scary, but somehow I glitched into the basket and even managed to stay connected. xD With full tanks and and a lot of laser guided weapons onwards to TA1, only to be warned off around ~30nm @ guard channel that there were bandits in the AO and went back to hold ~50nm out. That went on a few times until I managed to drop two weapons and had to go refuel. (And jettison my stores) That's when the above trouble started, shaky from RED contacts, close AWACs calls, low fuel and NIGHT, I failed a lot with the manual com settings(234UHF) & navigation. When I got to the tanker finally on fumes I couldn't slow down enough to actually connect. Sadly I haven't trained any refueling with airbrake out, might try that at day. Just writing this out to say how awesome the flight was, pure adrenalin and sweat followed by tears and a nice warm swim.
  16. Hey can you set up the Harrier Tarawa spawns to have tanker frequencys included? Had some trouble with that just right now. I love the stacked / spaced tanker fleet, awesome! The question came up, what is up when the tanker just aborts coms by himself and won't answer on radio anymore? Is he simply out of fuel and going home? What exactly happens there? Sorry if I missed something obvious... Manual frequencys don't work in the Harrier yet, yes? :D
  17. I think he is referring to the Hornet (Patch) trying to catch the wire on the carrier (his PC). :) I think I have the same issue. My _download folder has now grown to 19gb but he still wants to download new 10gb.
  18. FFS somehow he started re-downloading(!) everything from the start. This is a nightmare! Taking the whole day already.
  19. Wow this is a huge issue for me (patch size). My DCS folder is already 137gb, now I need additional 12gb+ on my SSD to patch. Of course I don't have that. Anyone ideas? I don't know how to patch and there is no way I can make 12gb room.
:music_whistling:
  21. People forget that policy came after a massive amount of negative reviews & forum feedback about 'beta' modules on Steam. If they release it on day one, there are issues, people on Steam are not willing to deal with. If you don't release on day one, you 'hate the Steam users'. Rule of thumb, you can't make it right. :) Now they cancelled the Steam 'sale' bonus that was planned first, and people are angry. If they wouldn't have done that, people on Standalone who pre ordered way before Steam users would have raged. What do we learn? ED can't win. xD
  22. There are a lot of bad reviews, that mostly don't have any leg to stand on. This is a good moment to make & update your own reviews etc.
  23. Anyone know where to get Nyogel 767a in Europe?
  24. Hi, I was pleasantly suprised (and disappointed no Wags dub!) that there are already tutorials included. From my early A-10C days (~2012), I remember issues with fading tutorial text, but in the F18 it fades even faster. I am requesting the tutorial text stay way longer, or if possible, doesn't fade at all, until 'spacebarred' or it's relevance concluded. I might reference this post later in DCS:W wishlist section, about a chatlog for 'ingame' text messages (not chat, you know what I mean^^). That would probably be the most elegant solution, since I think there are good reasons why tutorials have the text time limited. WORKAROUND: Ingame pause works, I didn't try active pause.
