Model enlargement doesn't come into at 2nmi, at that range it is no different to having it off, it is the long range that makes the difference. Yesterday on the 373 in 2 flights I splashed 2 Mirages an A-10 and an F-15 whilst flying an Su25T all thanks to the model enlargement. Spotting targets at some 20km away is just too easy. I don't even know what the max range is of the model but spending sometime on WW2 servers it seems to be quite a lot, though sometimes they can vanish.

Because you are using external sources not part of the sim to make your aircraft and sensors better than everybody elses. How is this fact lost on you.
-
Everyone that links up with you gets to see what your radar sees whilst you see all of their radars info creating a screen of contacts you wouldn't normally see. This screen is the export of your radar combined with the data of all your buddies, therefore similar to your radar screen using helios only 360deg, plus everybody elses radar.

I'm sorry Yoda to bring this to your thread on what is a fantastic mod but people using this mod have got to realise this is not fair game on public servers that don't ask for it.

I'm sure you asked for a smart mature discussion earlier. Anyway check again I fixed it, phones suck.

You clearly don't know this mod and I find your replies are bordering on desperate.

Helios gives you info on your own ship not other peoples and tacview is server restricted

You call my analogies way off while constantly comparing this mod to teamspeak, when was the last time you joined a popular server? Did it not tell you the TS address? Of course it did, that's because communication between players is part of being involved in mp gaming. This mod puts information on your radar you shouldn't be getting it really is that simple. No assumption, no data needed this is a fact. The issue here is not what this mod does but how and when it is used.
-
In a public mp server that is pvp everyone has the same limitations of their aircraft, sensors and weapons depending on what aircraft they use. There is no confusion here. Teamspeak servers are set up for communication and the playing field is well known for everyone who joins. Now when people decide that the performance of their aircraft, speed of their missiles or amount of info their sensors tell them is not good enough and decide to make a mod to make them go faster, make their missiles hit more or make their sensors see more this is known as hacking the game to suit their own desires outside the sim restrictions. To use other peoples radar information and get this simulated on your own radar screen is no different to making your own missiles fly further or aircraft fly faster. Now doing this amongst like minded groups on a dedicated server that states such game changes is all good, but when you start venturing into public servers using game changing hacks against unsuspecting players then that is taking liberties too far. When you're getting your head pecked about something by so many it is a sign to take notice.

Do you have a link to this claim? Link-16 has not been an easy system to implement, it is only through BMS that everyone believes it is such a 'free for all' system. Only one F-15 squadron acquired JTIDS and that was a test fleet of 18 F-15s based at Elmendorf plus a few F-14s. JTIDS and the proposed upgrade to all F-15s was cancelled in 1996 due to the expense and they moved on to MIDS which was projected for 2010. Those 18 F-15Cs with JTIDS were upgraded with an AN/APG-63(v)2 AESA radar in 2000 which is clearly not the DCS F-15. In 2011 F-15C/D were upgraded from the DCS version AN/APG-63(v)1 radar and outfitted with the AN/APG-63(v)3 AESA radars possibly in line with MIDS integration. "https://www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/monograph_reports/MR1235/MR1235.chap9.pdf" Smaller JTIDS terminals (Class 2) were also developed. However, because of their high cost, large size, and reliability issues, only a limited number of such terminals were procured to equip U.S. fighters specifically—U.S. Navy F-14Ds and a single squadron of U.S. Air Force F-15Cs. The cancellation of the JTIDS Class 2R program in 1995 and the decision to join the MIDS program have had cost and schedule implications for the Air Force. The additional cost of procuring the MIDS FDL for the F-15 may be as much as $20 million, but the actual cost is probably much less. There is a strong possibility that the Class 2R program would have encountered significant cost growth (for example, the OSD Cost Analysis Improvement Group (CAIG) concluded at the time that the cost projections for the terminal were too optimistic). Had that been the case, the cost advantage of the Class 2R terminal would have been significantly reduced. More important for the Air Force has been the delay in acquiring a Link 16 capability for the F-15 aircraft. We estimate this delay to be a minimum of almost two years. This estimate includes only the delays associated with delivery of the terminals, but there may be additional delays caused by possible difficulties in coordinating FDL integration with other avionics upgrades and depot-level maintenance for the F-15 fleet. Furthermore, because the MIDS LVT EMD program has incurred a substantial delay as well, there will also be a minimum delay of nearly three years in the Link 16 IOC for F-16s. As a consequence, the F-16 upgrade program has had to be reprogrammed to adjust for the LVT program delay. The delays in acquiring a Link 16 capability for the F-15 and F-16 aircraft are discussed in Appendix C.

You guys do a great job of setting the stage, shaking things up a bit every round is a good thing and rightly so you shouldn't bend over backwards to suit a few peoples complaints, though ideas and suggestions i'm sure are more than welcome. From the start of BF some squads have split sides without issue due to Flanker and F-15 being on opposite sides so it shouldn't be a surprise at all in future rounds. The talk of balance and favouring Blue side is utter nonsense I don't understand why some feel they need to complain on such matters, they should know what BF is all about and that winning the battle is not measured on aircrafts and weapons but by teamwork and participation. Let's hope for another fantastic round, a thousand thanks for all the hard work.

Yeah, Maverick is as English as they come and Rip lives next door to the Queen.
-
Yes I've tried it and it works fine though i'm sorry it was the earliest version of 1.5.3 (1.5.3.50487.22) I used and not 1.5.2, my bad.
-
No, the Flanker and F-15 in DCS have the relevant packages with their variant in regard to what you describe.

This mod is fantastic yes but please don't try and claim it as realistic or fine for multiplayer. The real F-15 of today has datalink, AESA, HMCS, AIM-9X etc. all good but ED's F-15 does not. The DCS F-15 cockpit is that of between an APG-63PSP and (v)1 this version probably doesn't even exist anymore, it didn't have datalink or any of the modern fancy gizmos above. So please don't try and claim all is fair to use such mods in the multiplayer environment. This is no different to increasing radar power, missile capability, engine perfomance, adding an APG and R77 to the MiG21, giving the Mirage an APG and MICA etc. ED set the bar, changing the amount of information your aircraft allows you to see not only the F-15 but any of the FC3 aircraft is reaching over this bar.

I've already explained to you how to fix the radar, it is pretty simple. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2759158&postcount=1253 PM me if you need more detail.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 5
Frostie replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Mirage and MIG on opposite sides is good for IFF but I don't see the MiG being effective at all in this 120/ER/ET scenario, whilst the Mirage can just about hold its own. This would make much more sense in an 80s environment. Removing Ka50 from Blue and A10 from Red would make sense to me. -
You must buy Flaming cliffs 3 or buy the stand alones. LOMAC, Flaming cliffs and Flaming cliffs 2 don't work with DCS 2.0.
-
There is no need to memorize any parameters the radar is broke, simple. Nose down and you'll see the contacts. If you want to fix it you can just take the mods/aircraft/mig21bis/bin folder from the earliest version of 1.5.3.50487.22 (where it worked correctly)and overwrite it in your latest version 1.5.3. This will require some back peddling to the earliest version of 1.5.3 (1.5.3.50487.22), saving the folder then updating back to the latest 1.5.3 and then adding the folder.
-
It is not the radar range that is broke its the fact the radar is not stabilised to the horizon. The radar still sees contacts out to 25km just upwards inline with AoA instead of forwards. The cone direction is why contacts on the nose don't show up until late.
-
We could sit and argue all day about what is fair, how about R-3R overperfroming or Mirage overperforming the list is long. Personally whatever is put up i'll fly all and anything without a care if i'm outmatched or overpowering, it is all fun so bring it on.

Don't kid yourself, head to head at 5nmi there is no better missile to have than an ARH.
-
Obviously the closer you get the more effective your missiles should be, whether they are underperforming or overperforming to get the most out of either set you need to get into dangerous territory to get the kill chance you desire. Remember it works both ways, you can fire missiles from 20nm expecting them to hit then scratch your head why they failed but look at it from the other perspective, were you in any sort of danger of getting hit yourself, probably not, then this should relieve the puzzled thoughts. The key to BVR is outwitting the opponent by being in the optimal position to fire your missile before he can, this doesn't have to be the first shot/engagement it's a series of exchanges which if used with the right blend of tactics, aggression and guile should put you in the advantageous position to make the kill. There is so much more to it than just getting into range and firing a missile unless you're facing drones. :)

Range performance is not broken, it is the stabilization of the radar that is broken. For some reason the radar stabilises on the MiGs AoA instead of the horizon this makes the supposed horizon of the radar point something like 5 or 6 degrees up. This means that anything on the nose over 10 or 15 km needs to be really high to be seen. You can test this by setting up a MiG facing an F-15 at 30km range both at say 5000m, once in the pit go radar on and enter a steep dive, the F-15 will pop up on radar at 25km until you level up again then it will disappear.
