Server Announcement: -= ACG WW2 Server (EU) =-
9.JG27 DavidRed replied to IronJockel's topic in Multiplayer
@Krupi, not a regular yet :) but a friend, consider it as done! @Nirvi, consider it as done! PS: i will adjust the mission today several times, and also tomorrow...so i hope to have the first planes finished this weekend...but i need you guys to test your own planes...otherwise you will likely have to wait to next weekend until i can make any necessary fixes. GENERAL TESTING PROCEDURE: after i told you that the plane is included: try to join your plane(you should not get any warning message, and you shouldnt get kicked out) if you can join your plane, take off and fly away from the airfield...at a certain distance you should get a message , with the server wishing you good luck. please test if the opposing side gets points if you get killed/if you crash. try to land at your homefield.after a full stop landing you should get a "welcome back" message. -

ok adjusted the mission tf_t4trouble...your plane is included...only problem...the bort numbers are hardcoded, meaning directly painted on the skin...so chosing the number10 did nothing on the skin...i guess its possible to change it with the description.lua file, but you would need to find out yourself... now as the plane is included into the mission...please test it!you should be now the only one able to successfully enter the plane without getting kicked(on a sidenote, sometimes the script seems to decide that you are not you, and will still kick you :) but that is happening very very seldom) also please test, whether the point system is working with your plane...if you crash, does the german side get a point?do you get messages when leaving the airfield zone...and do you get a message when landing and coming to a full stop in Krymsk again??? PLEASE REPORT BACK! -

DCS WWII SQUAD DIRECTORY
9.JG27 DavidRed replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
9./Jagdgeschwader 27 with a group of long term friends, which originated from Cliffs of Dover i created the 9./JG27, a virtual squadron dedicated to DCS WW2 and the 109. while we love to fly in a realistic manner, our main goal is to have fun together. so we are not necessarily looking for aces, but for personalities which fit to the already established group. we dont have any requirements to join, except having a joystick and a mic to communicate over teamspeak. because of time zones, we mainly look for european pilots. currently the majority of us is german speaking, but of course we all speak english(well its supposed to be english) we will not accept the most talented ace, if we dont see him fit into the group. we will however accept a total rookie with the right personality and dedication. we are confident to have pilots capable enough to teach the necessary skills to newcomers. we are running our own 24/7 WW2 server, rented by a big provider, based in Germany. -=9./JG27 FightingLegends=- The awesome =STP= guys were so kind to give us our own TS section on their Server. www.9jg27.com expect more to come we are here to stay HORRIDO! -
yes, pilot action is required to switch between the two modes... i am sorry i cant tell you anymore what exactly the issue is you are having, but i am 100% sure it is a double mapping in your controls...there is something mapped by default in the 109 options which made me have the same problem the first few days with that module, until i figured out what the double assignment was...sorry but meanwhile i forgot it.
-
^^yeah and that seems identical with the effects we already have...also i believe that we already have the new effects...not long ago, they added new fire effects of burning planes.and i think thats what was planned with edge...otherwise it wouldnt make much sense to create these new effects, while there are already other "edge effects" in the works... of course everything is and stays work in progress and we might see constant improvements/adjustments of said effects, but i have the feeling that we should not expect too much changes in this regard with the release of edge.the same effects will probably still look better just because of the improved graphics engine...
-
yeah, its definitely possible and only a matter of practice...still i think, it could and should be further tuned, considering the WW2 modules and their behaviour on it....everything not "concrete" seems to be just too sticky and the slightest sideslip will cause big trouble.in my view thats overdone. also the fact that heavier aircraft like the A10 cant move at all anymore once they find themselves in the fields hints that it just didnt get too much attention by the devs yet....
-
trying to stay objective on this question, which is really hard for me as a 109 fan,...i think the best thing for you in such a situation is to simply buy whichever plane you prefer....whats your favorite out of those two no matter the reason for it... both, although 109 still in beta, are worth the full price, and definitely the sale price.so i think you cant go wrong.just pick the plane which is most appealing.

attention:pilots who use the ACG server as their server of choice ok...lets make it personal :) from now on, we offer our "regulars"(pilots who frequently visit and fly on our server) a personal plane, reserved only for them. if you think you fit into the above category, apply here, with with following details: complete online name(has to be correct to work with your plane) plane of choice(chose your favorite, we can only reserve 1 for you) paintscheme of choice(does not have to be a stock skin shipped with the sim, but can also be community made, or even made by yourself. desired plane number if we agree that you fit into the category of our "regulars", then you will soon see your wish fullfilled.note though, that even such adjustments take a little time, and it may take a while until you really see your personal plane showing up on the server. *due to the limitations of slots though, we will have to place the reserved planes on the outer airfields.still pretty close, but a short flight will be required to get into action...well probably with every few new reserved planes added to the mission(s), we will also update our ACG modpack, inlcuding the paintschemes....it will not be required to have that most recent modpack installed to fly on our server, but it is recommended, to enjoy the full experience... NOW GO ON AND APPLY! -

nothing fancy, and a rushed job just to get rid off the oldest clips i have to get some space again on my machine...also sorry for the quality...ill have to take a look at what rendering settings the quality stays bearable once uplaoded to youtube...the original vid is 60frames/sec, no stutters, and very good quality...but as soon as i upload on youtube, it looks pretty bad... -

Will the Skies over Normandy be populated?!
9.JG27 DavidRed replied to Celestiale's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
thx, but NO!there are already other flight games for that.DCS is the only thing which goes into such details, and lowering the fidelity would be a LOSS. -
hey sorry for the late reply...yes its possible to adjust that in a lua.file.... iirc, for the P-51 it should be the server.lua file. its best if you copy the whole folder dcs world/config/views to your "username"/saved games/dcs world/config folder. then open the server.lua file and change the following CameraAngleRestriction line under the P51 section to something like this: CameraAngleRestriction = {false,180.000000,1.000000}, ...there is much more you can adjust like shouldersize or default, min&max zoom levels. if you want to adjust such things for other planes, then you most likely will have to change the views.lua file for the relevant aircraft...these files are spread out through your install directory and you will have to search for them.some are saved under CoreMods, some are under Mods.... ive made my adjustments for the P51 a long time ago, and my post may not be 100% correct regarding the line in the server.lua file.but if you just test it and fiddle around with it, you should find out soon whether i was correct or not.hope that helps

that sounds like wishfull thinking...i hope you are right but im convinced that we wont even see the alpha version of the map this year.all we know is, that first wags stated in june that they plan to release it i think in may 2015...then in the september newsletter he stated that first they are doing the straitz of hormuz map and only then start to work on the normandy map...so i dont believe we will see a normandy map within this year.

Will the Skies over Normandy be populated?!
9.JG27 DavidRed replied to Celestiale's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
yeah era specific units are needed as well of course...but those two things belong together i think.the map and the units.even with awesome mods just like Lilkiki's ww2 unit mod, there is still too much on the map which puts you out of the immersion.its obvious that its modern...so no, only units and modules wont make dcs a complete ww2 sim. right now, only the real maniacs are flying ww2 aircraft in dcs while they wait for something to finally happen.the majority of ww2 flight sim fans stay away from dcs currently and wait for the map.some of them may have bought a module, but they dont use it. i can understand them tbh, and wouldnt it be for the fidelity of the modules themselves, there were absolutely no reason to fly dcs at the moment as a ww2 flight sim fan. but there are many different reasons why people like flight sims and also ww2 flight sims.and its obviously the minority who really can put the flight models and the fidelity of the modules over everything else and just ignore the rest... only ground units, and be it hundreds of them, wont populate the skies over normandy without a normandy map. EDIT: also i have to disagree with the " I mean its already been established that a few of these planes didnt operate around Normandy, so its not dis-similar to flying them over the current map." flying over a normandy ww2 1944 map in a k4 is maybe not exactly historical correct.but you cant compare that with flying over a modern day map where you constantly have to look at things like nuclear power stations and the like. -
serious?:)

9.JG27 DavidRed replied to Celestiale's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
key thing is the map.without it there are only very few people who really manage to immerse themselves enough to fly current dcs as a ww2 sim, no matter which ww2 aircraft they release i think. -

also, what people have to understand...currently the mission building process is a one man show.(well with the help of kind people who provided me some scripts just like SNAFU, or guys who help me with the mission briefings, thx to Bounder and IronJockel) not only does it take lots and lots of time to build even the current "AIRQUAKE" mission, but people have a life outside of dcs as well.furthermore, i am by no means a really experienced mission builder at all.i work with what i understand, and that is pretty much triggers, avoiding scripts as long as possible...its time consuming. so of course, i can understand that our missions will never ever appeal to everybody.its not possible.but if people have legitimate concerns about our missions, i welcome everybody to create a mission he likes, and we can test it on the server.if its successfull we will implement it in a mission rotation.if anybody is interested in doing so, then please pm me. -

9.JG27 DavidRed replied to IronJockel's topic in Multiplayer
^^exactly this...with our former missions, which were much more complicated to produce, and trying to resemble much more realistic environment resembling more a ww2 scenario within our possibilties we noticed that while we enjoyed the mission very much, the majority obviously didnt really appreciate the fact to fly for a couple of minutes towards the target area...or care to even climb to a certain altitude to escort bombers and such...usually we faced a nice mission but empty server... my hope is, that once we have a ww2 map, that more players will appreciate realistic scenarios.but for now, flying over a little immersive map with modern stuff everywhere which puts you out of your little film all the times, we decided its not worth it... we still have those former missions on the server and we can maybe think about a certain day to run those more "real" missions, but in general, the current mission is just much more successfull it seems...hopefully that is only the current result of the lack of a proper ww2 scenario.
