  1. Well, right click should be directly supported (press and hold) and I guess that via autohotkey one can do anything. I'm no stranger to scripting. Pausing TrackIR is easy and I have dedicated button on HOTAS for this purpose already. Thanks!
  2. What's more important to me? AFM or detailed avionics / clickable everything? AFM definitely. It's foundation. It needs to be rock solid and as realistic as possible. Now, clickable stuff and detailed avionics is like icing on the cake (like graphics, immersion, sound ...) - nice and great to have, but if flight model is sub-par, everything else falls apart in an instant. It's a flight simulator, after all. That's the reason I cannot enjoy flying fast FC3 movers anymore - it feels like a joke after steady DCS AFM diet. So I'm looking forward to ED's effort to eradicate SFM from FC franchise. Of course, having cake and eating it too is da best - like A10c, MiG21bis and helis- we just have to accept that it takes loooong time to have it all.
  3. I just hope that "Everything is subject to change" will not apply to this case. Fingers crossed :D
  4. Duct tape ... And don't feel bad, we all suffer from nerd rage from time to time :crash: :)
  5. Great stuff! Impressive. I'm looking for a simpler (and more compact) setup though I did a search for a simple single monitor touchscreen setup, but most threads are about complicated setup like 3 surround monitors+1 touchscreen dedicated to instruments), which I want to avoid ATM due to space restrictions. I don't see the reason why it wouldn't work. Just wanted to see if someone is already using single touchscreen monitor with DCS 3D cockpit and inbuilt windows 7 native touch support.

  7. The revenue from FC franchise is also the main reason why ED survived, while all the other hard core guys didn't.
  8. Is anyone using single, one touchscreen monitor setup for DCS? Looking at this as a potential single monitor for DCS (unfortunately, there are no 24"+ 1440p touchscreens on the market yet). I could expand on it, adding two non-touch 27" monitors for the periphery vision later.
  9. Well, you cannot enjoy modern flight simulator without some form of head tracking, and the TIR5 is ATM the best and most user friendly consumer solution you can get. It works, it's stable and it's absolute necessity for DCS. I refuse to fly without it. Negative points (everything has it): It's slightly overpriced and Track Clip Pro is very fragile. However, with some care it will last. You just have to be extra careful with it (nerd rage is big no-no :D). So, it's definitely worth the money. Enjoy!
  10. Workaround for multiple devices is assigning some obscure (unused by DCS) keyboard key combination to button in joystick programming software and using this to program TIR.
  11. It's easy to assign the joystick button for centering TIR. Choose the Center in Action drop down menu, press the Key button and assign it. The same goes for Pause. Keep the Smooth parameter (within Motion Control) above 30 until you get used to head tracking thing.
  12. In other words, the biggest evil there is. :D Enemy of artist freedom, creativity, innovation and new ideas in general. Gaming and music industry have lot in common.
  13. Redundancy? Murphy's law? To paraphrase your question: "What's the point of still using a gun in conjunction with missiles? :smilewink: EDIT: sniped by Flagrum :D
  14. 1) Minimum 5.0Kgf (11 lbsf) force setting on the stick. The larger the force, the more stable the centering. The default x65f force values are joke and are meant for casual gamer and stick which is not fixed to the table - X65f needs to be fixed down for best performance (throttle too). Get small(ish) woodworking clamps if you don't want to screw it down for good. 2) Beta 7.0.10.6 drivers (with calibration). Calibrate once a day, more or less. Enjoy trouble and dead zone free performance from x65f ... :)
  15. Something around 500 DPI at Oculus viewing distances would be equivalent of 1280x720 27" display at desktop viewing distance. Mediocre, resolution wise. Probably more than OK for FPS games. Not so for flight sims, especially mud movers (need as much resolution as practical for spotting targets with MK I Eyeball) But let's be positive, I hope that display industry will quickly follow the expected worldwide OR craze when it gets released. Oculus MKII or later will be the perfect VR product.
  16. :D No need for that. And I cannot focus closer than 5" anyway ... Well, math is obvious ... ten times less viewing distance, ten times bigger the object (pixel in this case)
  17. Even that Amoled is way too low in DPI department for OR. It's fine for handheld device which is viewed at much larger distance. We need at least 4K 5" display (3840x2160, 880DPI) to equal 1080p 24" monitor at standard (20"+) viewing distance. And for 4K we need cutting edge gaming PC to have decent FPS.
  18. I vote for TIE Avdvanced x1: Hey could we have it in DCS BTW, please? And we need X-wing for the sake of balance as well. :D
  19. How much significant? It may sound like nitpicking, but it's essential. 300dpi is enough for print quality (we tend to read from 18-20" distance) and 24" FHD(1080p) display is about 90dpi which is fine desktop resolution for our purpose. Now, OR display is only couple of inches (or so) away from the eyes, so basically we need around 800-900 DPI panel to have the same experience as standard 1080p 24" desktop monitor (resolution wise). Consumer 900dpi display is some years (decades?) away :) And if by miracle, such displays appear overnight, we would probably need quad SLI GTX780ti to power it in DCS.
  20. 1.3 would be nice round number and opportunity to introduce new graphic engine and Nevada (which probably will coincide with MiG21bis spring release)
  21. Naaaah ... There have to be threat of dire consequences for me to take action ... like imminent maverick self destruction or DCS world imploding into black hole or something ...:lol::lol:
  22. I thought as much. Thanks.
  23. So, after 30 mins or so, we get note to "Check EO Timer". I acknowledge it, and ignore it happily. Are we supposed to cool down the system by switching off the Maverick, or this aspect is not modeled in DCS? Haven't noticed degradation in performance TBH, however, I'm not sure about lock on ranges when the seeker is cooked. What's the final word on this?
  24. +1 (and SU25T should get toe brake axis treatment as well)
  25. You have to time it right when PAC is on the other switch - too soon and you can't make minor stick corrections because PAC is doing its thing. It's doable with practice, of course. The point is, why do we need to go through all of this when it's dead easy and natural with dual trigger? They need to put dual stage trigger back in their sticks. It's beyond my comprehension why they degraded new series of HOTAS and removed dual stage trigger from both X65F and X55?
