  1. I've been in the Navy for almost 20 years and I have seen a maximum air to air load out of 12 AAM's for legacy Hornets and 14 AAM's for Supers a grand total of zero times. Alerts are usually stood with three to seven missiles depending on the perceived threat for the region. Can the maximum load out be done? Yes. Will you normally see something like that? No.
  2. I would like to see the multi-crew combat types for use as fast FAC's as well as the run of the mill procedural trainer. In a virtual squadron setting they will be indispensable for some of the more difficult to fly types such as the Harrier's. I'd like to see the Harrier T4/10/12 and TAV-8A/B. Carrier types will be important as well due to the dynamic nature of the operating environment so there will be a need for an F/A-18B/D and possibly the TA-7C as well.
  3. I don't know. I don't care enough for that particular jet to look for any docs.
  4. I think a possible Viggen (be it AJ/JA/AJS) module has a unique opportunity right now. The community is hungry for a western fast mover right now and if LNS can have it ready before the Typhoon, Mirage 2000C, F/A-18C or even the Tomcat then they have the possibility to maximize sales of a Viggen module. As for the popularity of any module, I don't think that is necessary as long as the people building it are passionate about it. That ensures that the highest quality product in the end. As for the other two planes, I am now back to suspecting the Viggen, and possibly the J2M Raiden or F4U Corsair... still not certain on which one or both though. If there will be only one Viggen type built I hope it is a AJ-37.
  5. As the picture shows they did put it back together but it didn't make the 2003 war cruise with VF-213. Second hand info but an AME buddy of mine said that VF-101 put it back together and, as seen in the photo, evidently it was given to VF-31 some time after that. I was one of the "many people who came out to see the spectacle."
  6. Was easy enough for me. I just pulled up google and typed English Electric Lightening and voila! Lots of Lightening sites and pics.
  7. Chevelle Jars The Red
  8. ... and from what I have read a lot of the airfields that are actually within the detailed areas will not be present either... such as NAWS China Lake, Ft Irwin, Edwards AFB and a lot of the smaller civilian airports scattered around.
  9. Team's name is Russ.
  10. 152nd RG, 192nd RS "The High Rollers" Nevada ANG. Lot's of low flying in the early 90's (maybe very late 80's).
  11. F2G Super Corsair Race 57. RIP Bob Odegaard. http://boulgerfuneralhome.com/obituaries/robert-odegaard/ You did a great job restoring her. It's nice to see she is still being shown to the public.
  12. I'd like to see that and any other German night fighter as well. The Do-217J/N, Bf-110F-4/G-4, Ju-88C-6/G-6 and He-219A-0/2/5/7 are on my most wanted list.
  13. In the culture of Naval Aviation an aircraft carrier is a boat. All aviation officers and ratings call it a boat. The black shoes hate it and that's why we do it.
  14. F7U Cutlass:no_sad: and what it did best:doh: XF-85 Goblin Berev Bartini and while not really a true jet (it is a turboprop) I have to the nominate the Fairey Gannett as it is truly a hideous looking machine.
  15. Depends on the year. LANTIRN was first integrated (in testing) in 1995. The fleet got the pods in 1996. Of course the fleet Tomcats could carry LGB's but could not self designate them before 1996 due to not having LANTIRN. They used buddy lasing from other platforms before LANTIRN integration.
  16. Very exciting to see the progress. I can't wait to get my hands on the big kitty.:pilotfly:
  17. Some of my photos from the 2005-2006 cruise on the TR.
  18. The USAF specified that all of their Phantoms were to be equipped with full controls both front and back and originally both seats were occupied by qualified pilots. For the Air Force, who has 6-10k foot runways the risk reduction was worth it. For the Navy, whose runway is about 700ft long and to successfully land the aircraft has to be flown to a spot of only about 100ft long within that 700ft, not being able to see the carrier well makes for a very dangerous situation to both the aircrew and the ship itself. This is what you would get if you were lucky: The cockpit photo you referenced is to a USAF F-4G Wild Weasel V. It being a USAF bird (originally built as an F-4E) means that the dual controls were standard. Here's a pic of an F-4J RIO cockpit, notice the poor visibility lack of throttles and no flight control stick: The Navy actually remanufactured about 60 A-7B/C's to TA-7C dual seat trainer standard for use with VA-174 and VA-125 the east and west coast A-7 Corsair II RAG's respectively.
  19. They did say something for just about everyone. The other side of that coin is that means not everyone will be excited about all of their forthcoming modules. I have never been a fan of WWII Japanese planes (except the Ki-46... it just looks right) but others are and will get great enjoyment out of a high fidelity Zero. Will I purchase the Zero? Probably not. I will get great enjoyment shooting them down in the F4U if LN makes a module of that. I do like WWII American and German planes. To me it looks like the F-14A/B Tomcat, F4U Corsair and A6M Zeke are probably the three modules being touted for this coming year.
  20. More Phantom Pics One of the 10 German F-4E Phantom II's The Power! Black Jets! F-4G from Spangdalehm AB, A-10A from RAF Woodbridge and RF-4C from RAF Alconbury. Hunter Killer team at the tanker with an Eagle escort. F-105G Wild Weasel III F/A-18C from my old squadron, VFA-146. A-4M's dropping Mk-82 Snake Eye's OA-4M Skyhawk II with a towed target. Finally, an EKA-3B Skywarrior
  21. VF-103 Last Tomcat Cruise:thumbup:
  22. F-4G Would be awesome! And the F-4E Phantom II as well... Particularly an ARN-101 bird. Because you have to have your hunter killer team for SEAD/DEAD.
  23. I've really been wanting an OH-58D for online multi-play lately.
  24. Interesting find, I haven't seen a Tacman PG on the web before. You'll notice it does not include the AIM-9X, GBU-38, or GBU-54 as it is dated August 2001. It does have a lot of the basic Hornet weaponry though. I do believe the OP is looking for the PCL which is the A1-F18AC-NFM-500. It is the cockpit sized version of the NFM-000 which includes normal aircraft operations and EP's as well. I have not seen a free one that is anywhere close to being up to date though. There are several pay sites that have this manual for purchase but again, I don't know how up to date they are.
