  1. Yes, thank you for pointing out that it is an incorrectly named image. That is Gabby Gabreski's P-47D. He would not be amused. FYI - P-51 wouldn't have 4 ammo bays in each wing.
  2. This should be placed in the P-47 section maybe :music_whistling:
  3. Minor meltdown. Always good to test yourself with a network rebuild. :D Should see at least one DoW server and TS back up. Let me know if you are noticing any performance improvements... I was able to expand the pipe a bit.
  4. Even though I'm a horrible shot with the 109 I have seen the 30mm tear up plenty of planes when lined up correctly. Close range seems to be the key from sim experience + historical info. If you fire beyond 100m don't expect it to hit a fighter with too much consistency. interesting bit directly from the link above: ...my conversation with Gottfried Dulias, a real 109G-14A/S pilot with whom I spoke. He used the 30mm (he called it 3cm) MK-108 to score his 5 victories, and this is what he told me; He stated that the 3cm cannon was incredibly powerful, one time he hit a Spitifre that he bounced (with a single round) in the rear fuesalage and it tore the back of the plane off completely and it "flipped over itself through the air." He felt that it was a good air to air weapon, and not just useable against bombers. He did however state that you needed to be at close range when shooting, and he became very animated when acting as if he was shooting the MK-108. He stated that the entire plane shook and you were jolted around in the cockpit when firing, so that anything but a short burst was ineffective.
  5. It's good to know people are still passionate about the topic. Please keep in mind that the servers you fly on are all supported by the community and done on a volunteer basis. It takes a considerable amount of time and effort to maintain them and keep them current. I have offered to host missions built by those who have ideas and ambition to offer but received practically nothing. Missions take time to build, test & update when needed. Good missions consume even more. Administering the server full time would be nice, but not a reality. We HAVE adapted to a degree based on constructive feedback but have also held strong on a few things for various reasons. It is true that the majority of clients seem to prefer "air quake" over mission oriented objectives. That fact has never prevented us (DoW) from enjoying our squad events and having fun flying in the current DCS: World. We do appreciate everyone who has joined us and offered something to the experience. Yes, it will be more immersive when we have period maps, but I have no doubt in my mind that air quake servers will continue to attract the most clients online. That does not bother me in the least and my only hope is that the community continues to grow.
  6. Hey Ultra, I hear ya on the 109 AI. Drastically different from the 190, from my experiences. For that reason I put them in a triggered position deep in enemy territory on the River Raiders map. We can take a look at our rotation and see if we can adjust a bit. Thanks again for your support! I will be sending out those DoW t-shirts I promised ASAP.
  7. Interesting. There are definitelty occasions where the RED ground units don't spawn as expected. Mission rot? It IS running on a Windows server :megalol:
  8. DoW servers updated to 1.2.16.38741
  9. Well if you think about the purpose of the vertical fin, it is to maintain directional stability. It wants to follow the path of least resistance (weathervane) and will be trying to move to that point and become parallel with the flight path. With it offset to the left it will cause the nose of the aircraft to move right.
  10. I believe the vertical fin of the P-51D is offset left (1 degree maybe) from the centerline as a design feature to counter the yawing tendencies of the aircraft. So, as more air flows around it, the greater the effect.
  11. Guys, if you donate to the cause via PayPal PLEASE provide your forum name or callsign you fly with in the note/comments section. I will not publish anyone's actual name unless asked to do so. Aside from the aircraft skin drawings I have a few other ideas brewing to show our appreciation and I would like to know who is helping us out.
  12. I think the rate of the pull has a lot to do with it. Some of us who have warthog extensions and fly quite often rarely break wings, even in the most dire fights. I can't count the number of times I have relied on the strength of the DCS P-51s wings and it's performance in a high speed dive. There is also a learning curve with the DCS stuff...it will punish you if mistreated.
  13. Hello Demon, Glad to see you are still flying on the server. I enjoy your competitive spirit  We try to use different skins for the AI but sometimes they do match the client aircraft. Send me a PM with some details (which aircraft and what mission) and I can work on changing it.
  14. Headhunter, I assure you that the P-47 will be incorporated into our missions in short order once available. It is an eagerly awaited bird by many of us.
  15. Thanks for getting my good side. [emoji1] That looks like a trip to Mt. Elbrus. Always good to fly with ya, Breeze! EDIT: More likely escort duties in the Duck Hunt mission.
  16. Hey guys, now that you mention it, I've seen the rings of a bomb water impact around that big ship in harbor where the center would have been on the deck. And the one time I actually killed it was with rockets from a broadside attack. Very interesting.
  17. Whip, I call dibs on Little "MAC" the first day you fly a mission with a flyable B-24! Call me crazy but that plane has some good juju in-game. Isn't that the plane I used for Refuge 11 last time we killed it and ran the table on that mission? Good stuff.
  18. Good to hear! Be sure to jump on TS and say hello sometime. Also a good way to troubleshoot issues.
  19. CT, I've heard people say that they also have trouble with the autorudder in multiplayer and I suspect is uses the settings of the person building the mission. Most of us DoW guys have pedals so we have turned off the rudder assist but I can see it making life very difficult with the taildraggers if you do not. Sorry man. Also, feel free to come by our website and post up times you know you will be flying. I think you've seen first hand we find ways to stir up trouble, have a blast on TS and get ourselves involved in many good fights along the way. As we all know, as soon as you get a decent number of people flying... more are sure to join.
  20. Hey man, How ya been? Both servers have minimal items included in the integrity check at the moment. Not sure why you would not be able to connect. Has this been the case for a while now?
  21. Likewise, sorry if I came across a little harsh. You shouldn't run into that issue any longer. RR should be removed from the rotation on server #1 now. Let me know if you do see it on there, it's possible I messed it up editing the rotation.
  22. I am OK with considering the wants & needs of contributing guests... All others should remind themselves of the old saying about looking that gift horse in the mouth. ... talk about PITA.
  23. Dude, I am really happy you found so much info on this and it was an honor to help. The custom skin looks awesome!
  24. Happy to see the interest, Ultra! Like SnowTiger said, one good way to help the server numbers is to go on our DoW forum and let everyone know when you normally fly. One of our biggest challenges has been coordinating the optimal flying times for everyone. It does seem to go in cycles and every time ED releases an awesome new module people gravitate towards it (this can be good and bad for a server) We do have a pretty regular showing most nights around 9-10 pm Eastern if you can make it.
