  1. I think the denial of file export was an unintentional change while we were adjusting the integrity check stuff. I just looked and #2 is allowing it. I will make the change on the #1 server when I have an opportunity to restart it. I agree with you guys and we find TacView very useful as well.
  2. I don't know if there is any ill effect of advertising the specific folders that are being scrutinized but in an attempt to work with some loyal guests of the DoW server I am offering the following information: An integrity check may or may not be looking at files in the following directories between the two DoW servers currently operating. "Config/Weapons", "Scripts/compile.lua", "Bazar/World/Shapes", "CoreMods/WWII Units/Shapes", We have been trying out several configurations in an attempt to make the environment as fair and equal as possible for all clients while also keeping stability a top priority. It is unfortunate that any of the server operators have to go to these lengths but with the profusion of "mods" out there we feel we needed to attempt to restrict some things. Keep providing your feedback, and as always, we will do our best to make sure we get you guys connected.
  3. dooom, you dirty necromancer you. :D Yes, it needs to happen eventually. Maybe the beginning stages would just be some map making geared for the pacific and a 3rd party working on a Zero to pit against the Stang. That would get the ball rolling.
  4. $288 USD for just the stick now, about the same as Amazon I guess. VERY interesting item placement on newegg... Office Equipment & Furniture > Janitorial & Cleaning > Breakroom & Cleaning > Thrustmaster > Item#: 9SIA24G15W9966
  5. Roger, jcomm. Like I said, I'm happy you found something you can enjoy. That's why we are here. I do agree that spotting is difficult within DCS, the only thing that differs is how people choose to deal with it until the situation improves. Modding the labels is pretty easy. We used to use a "." at distance to help with ranged contacts. As gavagai stated, I don't think you can enforce its use once enabled but if some people are using B-52 LODs there is no need to worry about it anyways. I just hope this stuff gets regulated better down the road. Cheers!
  6. Also keep this in mind, once you are familiar with some of the missions you will learn where to look for aircraft and the most likely place to encounter an enemy. Yes, it is quite easy to wander around aimlessly and never see another aircraft but with a little time and knowledge at your disposal, you can find plenty of trouble. Of course, it helps if there is a good number of other people flying. (My 3 best tips for you: Try to fly with a wing-man if you can, read and understand the briefing, utilize Teamspeak if possible)
  7. jcomm, Firstly and most importantly, I'm happy to hear you found servers that suit you and that you are enjoying your time flying. Since many are not aware of the history enjoyed by some the more persistent servers within our awesome DCS community I will give some background to explain why some are the way they are. The DoW server has been in service full-time since 06-23-2013 in some form or another and has gone through many many adaptations, modifications and changes. We did, in fact, start out with an environment very similar to what you are describing here. At that time it helped us become familiar with the aircraft and surrounding world while honing some of our skills. Along the way we worked toward molding the experience into what WE thought was the most realistic thing we could accomplish within DCS:World as it has progressed toward this current point. Of course, there are those who will debate that to no end. Ultimately, DoW is a squadron-run server and will reflect what DoW collectively chooses. In my personal opinion, if you enjoy such things as vis mods, map assists, labels, etc then go ahead and use them but just know that all of those elements have been used and evaluated by many of us and at some point we outgrew many of them and changed the missions accordingly when considering what experience we were looking for. There are several of us that don't require constant dogfighting to enjoy a flight and we may even claim that it makes the experience more authentic. Last evening, [DoW]dOoOm and I flew a sortie on the server as a wing-pair that was incredibly rewarding and was at no point "boring." There were just two human red pilots but we had no problem finding a good fight, accomplishing our objective and then returning home to laugh about the harrowing adventure.
  8. Nice!
  9. Hopefully the updates resolved this ^ Feedback is welcomed as always.
  10. Trains w/proper steam boiler explosions. Grass airfields. 88mm flak guns. Bombs w/correct splash damage...
  11. Warning on 1.2.14 Update 1 for multi player Yea, same headaches here even though I felt I was "on the ball." Server was updated the day of the official release and the specific version number is included in the server description... Then the reports came flooding in about Su-27s invading the WWII server. Oh joy to the DCS:World. I'm actually happy to hear it is simply a version mismatch and not a mission file corruption of some sort but I do agree there should be some type of revision check at the client before joining a server.
  12. Thank you! to all of you who have contributed in any way towards the DoW server this month or any time in the past. Once again we have reached the required amount to hold the drawing at the end of the month for the Bonds 4 Bombs program and offer up another custom livery for one lucky guest. There is still time to add your name to the list of potential winners! (Please remember to list your forum name or callsign to help us figure out who is who) Also as an operational update: The second DoW Combat Server has been up and operational for a bit now and is currently in a Beta type mode where we are gauging the performance and reliability. Once I am confident that it is ready we will dedicate it to some type of regular rotation or possibly a campaign style environment. Again, Thank you guys. The outstanding support we have received has ensured the success of the DoW server and has provided a very positive outlook for the future. Have a wonderful holiday (whichever you celebrate) and Cheers to an exciting year to come!
  13. Awesome looking Mustang, Saetta! Congrats & I can't wait to see it flying on the server. Whip, great work with the skin! Those screenies look bad-ass.
  14. You share an opinion with several others... But not all. Spotting aircraft in DCS may not be easy but it's surely not the "end of the world" crisis that you claim. As you know we used the same fog-of-war settings in the past but since moved on once it became an unnecessary crutch. As far as the flak, while not perfect, is enjoyed by many and serves as merely an addition to the experience. To each his own. Glad to hear you are flying and enjoying your server.
  15. The activity in the PST time zone has been a major component of my sleep deprived state. :) There is usually some good activity on our server late but that is probably the tail end of it like dooom stated.
  16. Lefty here too. Don't totally rule out learning to use the flight stick with your right. It allows you to use a mouse with your left hand easily while flying. Might be hard to find a good throttle solution too if you do switch it up.
  17. Give it a little time and you will notice a change. I also think you will be surprised how easy it would be to wing up with someone if you ask... And it would be hard to find anyone who would fault you for your spotting. (It's difficult for everyone) The teamwork element through TS makes a world of difference and provides a much more rewarding experience.
  18. Just wanted to report that I've seen much better stability with this latest patch. The DoW server has been holding strong with far less server or client crashes.
  19. I guess I always have my canopy open until after or during taxi so I never encountered this. Seems stranger to me that you'd be trying to communicate to your ground crew in WWII from a closed canopy. Get some fresh air!
  20. Roger, sir. Servers updated now to 1.2.12.35194. I hope that resolves the issue you were seeing. See you in the sky.
  21. Thank you, sir. Your words & contributions are greatly appreciated.
  22. Dude! We will get you flying again I promise :D I had to wait till after work but I just jumped on the server and cold started 3 different mustangs at Beslan and although they are sluggish with that high oil pressure "bug" it will still start. If you cant get it to catch that way try the oil dilute switch for a few seconds... people are saying that helps.
  23. 1.2.12
  24. Indeed we do.
  25. DOGS OF WAR - Server thread Server is currently down due to an extended power outage. I will bring it back up ASAP. EDIT: Power Up/Server Up
