Hello everyone! A question about the ECM pods used by the F-16. I have noticed that the most used are AN / ALQ 131 and AN / ALQ 184. Which of the two is the most modern and which are the differences also regarding the missions to be performed. Thanks in advance for the information and good waiting for the Viper!

About the video: F-16 best fighter ever!! :) :)

F-16 Fighting Falcon Units of Operation Iraqi Freedom OSPREY Publishing COMBAT AIRCRAFT 61 Author: Doug Dildy, Steve Davies Illustrator: Chris Davey Short code: COM 61 Publication Date: 28 Feb 2006 ISBN: 9781841769943 Format: Paperback Number of Pages: 96 Very good ... and also for me: Falcon 4.0 manual. I was lucky enough to have bought it back in 1998 and it is still a reference for those who want to know more about the Viper. By the way, this manual can be found in pdf format on the internet.

Sorry, what is the CV module???:noexpression:

Hello everyone! Are the crew animations on the aircraft carrier not yet available but only announced? True?

Personally, in a scenario like the Persian Gulf, I think the lack of the Iranian navy is a real problem to be corrected as soon as possible.

Hello everyone! I have just written some criticisms of the new PFM. Well, after the right training, now I can only praise this PFM!!! I have documented myself, also thanks to the excellent users of this forum, and I can say that the new flight model is much more faithful (and fun) than the previous one. Now I land naturally following the few and simple rules necessary. Teaching: you must always train before criticizing. Thank you all for the useful advice !!

Great job!!! Many many Thanks!!!

The video confirms what I wrote above: with 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. JDAM you cannot hit 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. targets in a single pass. In the video, moreover, is used the TOO mode which would be practical only if the map of the editor was suitable for providing the decimals of the second of degree. In fact with this mode you can create waypoints directly on the targets and associate them to the release points of the JDAM. Currently this way does not guarantee the necessary accuracy for bombs because the map does not provide the necessary type of coordinates.

I've tried them all, but with "n" JADAM you just can't get "n" targets in a single pass. As I read above, although I have meticulously followed the instructions on Youtube (and also on this forum), in the programming of the bomb release there is no way to permanently associate the single station (STAx) with the single program (PPy). Therefore, when you reach the release point (IN RNG), selecting, for example, PP1 you discover that it is associated with the last programmed STA (STA8, for example), rather than to STA1. So, if I selected PP1 and push the release button, the STA8 bomb will be dropped, then I switch to PP2 and see that it is also associated with STA8, so I can't drop it. To do this, I will have to associate PP2 to STA2 (or another that has a bomb). Nothing to do with a multiple bombardment in a single pass!!! I look forward to an improvement on this incredible F-18 weapon.

I hope for a solution that does not force me to go back to the previous video drivers.

Same problem. But with the CBU-99!!!

THE AMAZING CHUCK!!!!

I created a mission to test the JDAMs and finally managed to destroy all targets!! The secret is all in the right coordinates to use to program the bombs. And these coordinates are not in the format that is read on the simulator maps (sigh!) Thank you all for sharing their knowledge !!
-
Thanks GrEaSeLiTeNiN !!! Finally, everything is clear to me. Now I try to run a test mission to understand the procedure and we hope that in a future update more precise coordinates will be provided on the maps to skip the conversion phase (quite annoying).
-
Sorry Chalky but I don't understand the need to convert the coordinates. In the DCS mission editor (caucasus map), pointing the mouse at the waypoint where the target is located, the coordinates are obtained in the format x ° y 'z "N ecc... Moreover, on the pad I cannot insert MGRS coordinates and I don't understand how we can see the MGRS format on the map (I only see the format x ° y 'z "N ecc...). Last night, after the last update, I tried to perform a simple bombardment mission with JDAM (GBU 31). I only tried the TOO mode (waypoint 1 right on the target). After running all the settings in flight, I discovered that the circle no longer appears around the target waypoint and, when the release timer reaches zero and the bomb is dropped, it does not hit the target (in fact it misses a lot). I believe there is still work to be done for the JDAM.

TOO jdam mode do not work after the last update.

JDAM not working after update.

Thank you folks for the help!!! This forum is fortunate to bring together wonderful people!!!

Hi everyone guys! Please can you tell me a tutorial (possibly .pdf format) that illustrates all the ways to correctly use the jdam bombs on the F-18. The tutorials on youtube confuse me and, in my opinion, they are not explanatory at all (especially for newbies). I understand that the F-18 is still in development but, when new features like Jdam become available, it would be ideal if there was also an update to the aircraft manual. Thanks for your attention:)

So, I understood my mistake. It all depends on how tight is the target aircraft formation. In fact, at a distance of 60 nm, the radar does not distinguish the number of airplanes in formation. So for the RIO in front of the F14 there could be only one plane and this single track is locked in TWS mode. Only at a distance between 30 and 40 nm the radar detect multiple tracks. Meanwhile, to launch a second missile in TWS, I had to wait and, given the distance and evasive maneuvers of the targets, it is possible that the RIO will not be able to perform a "lock on". Then, it's better to order the RIO to lock (in STT) the target in front of the F-14. Unfortunately, I'm used to the TWS / AMRAAM of the F-15 (which is also a bit science fiction).
-
Ok. Thanks for the reply. Then I will try to engage targets farther than 50 nm. Let's see if the phoenix launches will be consecutive as it happens for AMRAAM.

Hello everyone!! I read the manual and many comments on the forum, I saw all the video tutorials on youtube, but I still can't use the TWS mode from the pilot's station (maybe it's just the RIO's prerogative?!?!). Then, the TWS mode is the default for the BVR. So, even from what I've seen and read, sitting in the pilot's seat, it should be enough: MODE A / A, VDI TV, HSD TID, Master Arm ON, MSL PREP ON, Mode / STP Norm, Phoenix selected ... and shoot. Well, for example, in front of my Tomcat armed with four phoenixes, there are three SU-30s at 90 nm and around 16,000 feet. The RIO warns me. I start preparing the launch. I move to 16,000 feet and accelerate to 1.2 mach. The SU-30s now are at 50 nm. I press the trigger (once) and the first phoenix starts. I press the trigger again and ... nothing. I press again and again ... nothing !!!! I stay with my three phoenixes until the SU-30s are at 18 nm, the SU-30 first target has been hit and my "very good" RIO informs me that he can't lock anything!!! So it's up to me using the PAL and the sparrow to take out the second SU-30. The third I can bring it down with a sidewinder. In practice, my RIO lock the targets in STT and not in TWS!!!! But, while in flight, if I exchange the pilot position with the RIO, the selected radar mode is TWS!!!!! Please help! Thank you in advance.
