Yes but because of same problems in the past SO+ have its own BT build in Headset. Maybe you just have to disable MB BT as I guess was a problem in the first place diferentBT standards. But most important is its working now. So I'm glad you fix the problem anyway.

Any experience with Samsung Odyssey Plus & DCS yet?

Here is some new review about SO+. It is obvious some problems related to comfort could be easily fixed by minor modding and soon we could expect aftermarket product for it. -

Ppimax is a great deal if you are backer but it is not worth money they ask for it. You will be satisfied, I'm hoping. Think about to buying one Vive base station for 6DoF tracking. I'm not sure to do you need something else but one Base station is around 100$ new and should work for seating VR without controllers. Track what is going on with this. There must be some report from some of the backer. Only I'm concern about delivery for you as I didn't see much backers report they got their Pimax5/8K and Christmas is coming closer every day. -

The picture speaks a thousand words. made under the same condition so it is worth to compare. The same picture zoomed for more details. Only blind could not see the difference. -

The very good point some acting like spoiled child soon as it did not work straight from the box. No matter how many mistakes come from them self, not from different product design, technology or software. I can't believe someone could make a decision without proper testing after just one quick try. Similar reactions were with the older model of SO but most of them who give it try despite some Rift advantages after they get used to new better and definitely clearer picture to stay on SO and never go back to Rift but need more time for it. Vr is very individual experience and there is no two human with the same shape of the head. Comfort is also individual and needs to find a sweet position for better comfort because those two VR have a completely different approach for holding it on your head. People you should really give it a try for real and have in mind you are already used to your old VR. -
I think O+ have its own BT build in, maybe here is your problem if you using BT dongle for controllers. Try to remove it and use O+ for it.

True but Valve is one of the reasons why not to preorder Pimax5K+ so this need to be clarified as well. But you are right, let's talk about this new Valve product. You can see this photo is made in July and a lot of things happened from then. I'm even expecting some little more changes. This could be some cheaper consumer version of Vive PRO with advanced lenses to reach that FOV. I'm back now again on Pimax5K but just as a reference point for prediction what we could expect in near future in VR trends. Pimax is first commercial wide FOV VR. All these differences in resolution and SDE we got from CV1 to Pimax8K are minor. Only real and significant difference is FOV. This is a next game changer in VR HMD's. Pimax shows how for 170° FOV is not doable even with 2080Ti without reducing details to a minimum and even then it is low FPS. So they run at 150° FOV and demanding titles even at 125°. So for higher FOV, you don't need too much to reach. Just custom made lenses which will fix common VR problem with small sweet spot because all VR now is using standard lenses. Special made the custom lens and some software fix could even extend FOV from 130 to 140° and with minimal investment for developers. So Vive open season with new advanced PRO model and Samsung follow with O+. For example, Oculus could do the same easy with updated Rift+ with new Samsung displays like in O+. The relation between Oculus and Samsung already exist and if they add to this new custom lens just to enlarge sweet spot and eliminate Godrays will secure leading position for at least the next 3 years. To that, at the same cost, you could easily increase FOV from 125 to 135°. With this will be even better almost like nextgen VR. I'm expecting VR to go in that direction in 2019 simply because PC Hardware is not ready yet for more at least in the next 3 years. Same goes to some, to be honest, and name it exotic technology like GPU per eye or Eye tracking with proper FR support. That is more depend on support from games developers than to hardware. Eye tracking is existing but who will produce it for an affordable price when no one will buy it without real practical use in games. I could see how Valve goes in that direction as well.
-
I'm glad you didn't give up like some others on the first problem and you adapt to the situation. I'm glad you like it and wish you hundreds of happy hours with your O+.

That is exactly my point. Pimax5K is great product don't get me wrong but the price is too high for that level of quality, for that level of product finalization and Pimax is not some strong and well established brand who is the leader in VR industry so you can expect long term support. Pimax is Kickstarter company without any reputation who is launching their product with backers money they gather in the campaign. Financial future of such company is still questionable so they need to drag customers with something else. Price is too high to take such risk and invest that much money in the product of the company who is a risk of bankruptcy before even be able to fulfill and ship my preorder. For that money, we are talking now about minimum 1000$ to reach all possibilities which have one 199$ Lenovo Explorer for example. Only advantage Pimax5K+ will offer is higher FOV and better Vive like lighthouse tracking. Is that worth 800 to 1000$ more with all that risk and waiting time when meanwhile we could get some other and possible better solutions to buy? That is my only point. Backers do great job, they will benefit from it but for preorder, you have to be desperate to by first possible Gen2 VR, and stupid ofcourse. Just if you think about Pimax5K+ think twice before preorder it. There is too much doubt's in the air and announcement's from competition to decide right now. Maybe, in the end, Pimax5K+ raise as long term solution but only then, when they prove it is worth I could buy it. Right now, no way. This is worth to those who even already own some of the VR Headset, Rift is still very good and differences to a some newer is minimal. It is questionable to jump in something new from Rift. For those who are considering to jump into the VR and don't own VR HMD, for now, should stick to some cheaper and reliable solutions for now at least one more year. Point is, and I'm talking from our DCS users perspective for any serious game such ED, Il2 BoS or some sim racing as well for Gen2 VR we will need some nextgen GPU as well and that we will not get for at least a year.

This is a minor issue. There is some logic in name and you can give the name of the model whatever you want. What is bothering me is things like for example 200° FOV how they say it is in specs is actually diagonal, not horizontal. Problem is they always talking about that 200° applying as it is horizontal, not diagonal but on all reviews is confirmed that horizontal FOV is 170° max. We still didn't get that official from Pimax. They continuing that sort of deception to the public even after I put the clear and simple question to be answered with just simple yes or no answer. Or example with full RGB support. Difference and advantage for 5K+ are coming from fact that 5K displays have full RGB support and 8K don't but they still promote 8K as full RGB displays. Even on that, now obvious deception, they continuing promoting 8K as full RGB when it is clear this is not the case. And on that to be clear I ask simple question months ago and still no answer even all reviews made it clear how 8K displays are not full RGB supported as they still claim in official specs. I could now count much more issues stayed unanswered or at least doubtfull on what I was point in some posts on Pimax forum and didn't get any official answer on it. So it is clear, I lost trust in Pimax. Here is no question about justified reasons for the naming product. The problem here is a fault and wrongly published specifications what is direct and aware deception end they continue to do it despite warnings. Again I'm repeating, from reviews it is clear how Pimax 5K+ is probably best comertialVR HMD in next 6 months but it is clear it is not finalized product and probably will not be in next 6 months and they asking too much for the product in this stage. High price by itself is no problem if the product worth and have future but asking that much to be paid in advance when we are not sure how this will end, especially with an 8K model in which I doubt now will be ever finished as they promise in Kickstarter campaign. To mi right now looks better to stay on your existing VR headset or buy something who will not lose value too much like Samsung Odissey+ and will be easy to sell in next year, year and a half, after proper Grn2 VR headset will be released no matter which one. Could be that new announced Valve VR Headset. Definitely, others are coming too not just Pimax who will miss the great opportunity they could have with 5K. Only who will have some benefit from it are Basckers because they will get good high FOV device before anyone else and for a decent price but the future of this product is not sure, at least not yet.
-
Metzher, that id the problem. They never fulfill a promise from 4K. They scrue up 4K. Now they doing the same shit with 5K+ and 8K will never be a properly working product. That is based on so far experience we have with Pimax on 4K and 8K models. I ask them multiple simple questions to be answered and till today never got an answer. So tell me how to gain trust in someone who never fulfills a promise and avoiding answering the simplest question and keep going with publishing fouls specifications for a new product? About pricing I already answer and why should I buy something before it starts working for such a high price. The price which could be compared with StarVR One and XTAL who is not yet in production at all and they only manufacturing single order. Tell me how Lenovo Explorer could cost only 200$ and have much more technologies build in they product? Just answer that. Or tell people how much will cost 5K BE with equivalent technology build in Samsung Odyssey+ or Vive Pro. Point is all this bullshit Pimax trying to sell us are not true. They give huge opportunity and open gap for competition who already have the better product and probably will be ready for market just near Pimax5K release. Right now ordering Pimax for full price is a huge gamble even higher than price. Like I say backers made a great deal and they are only one who will have some benefit from it. For rest of the peoples just simply risk is too high because they pushing product too early on the market when it is not ready. And yes one of the problem Pimax5K+ need higher resources then other competitors is bad software. Proven by StarVR who have much higher horizontal FOV and fewer hardware demands. Similar problem Pimax has have with 4K and never fixed it just simply they are not capable to do that.
-
As a backer, you do a great job. This is more than fair price. If Pimax5K+ is 500$ that will be the high but acceptable price. You need to have in mind that Pimax5K+ is just for HMD without tracking, without audio and better headcount and without controllers. These displays are the same as for Lenovo Explorer only difference is size. Point is this displays for Pimax is mass-produced displays which are using in Mobile industries so the price is actually lower than this displays used in Explorer. Electronic is similar expenses and Explorer got full 6dof tracking with controllers. Even software is better and has ASW. So the initial cost in production is not that much different between Explorer and 5K+ but when we add controllers and tracking to basic 5K+ HMD price will be close to 1000$ vs 200$ so I can't aprovePimax under that high price and be not fair to those who supported them all the time. As a backer, you did a great deal and I'm sure you will be satisfied even there is some doubt about performances because somehow all this review show how Pimax is depending more about SS than other VR HMD

Did you think about just one simple solution? It is just an idea. Made some cheap wood plywood frame to hold your TM MFD placed it exactly same position to overlap with MFD inside virtual cockpit. Basically, you will be tricked you looking on VF MFD and feal TM MFD under your fingers attached on that DIY wood stand. It doesn't matter how it looks just to be properly located to overlap with a virtual one.
-
This goes under realistic production cost. Don't forget I still using my own DIY VR HMD because I still didn't found on market something that better what is worth to invest to beat the performance of my DIY HMD. When I'm talking about production cost trust me I know because I'm coming from industries production background. Completely different field but economic principles are the same when you are establishing a proper price for the market.
-
Just like I say, staying on the value I established as principles. Same way as Rift goes higher on my chart of VR HMD and Pimax4K desire completely. My personal favorite is for now and the best value for money is Lenovo Explorer as cheep enter level for just 200$ you got all full RGB LCD with controllers and 6DoF highly important in DCS. Rift is not a bad option today but it is the question is it worth than 100$ more for someone who just wants to enter into VR but worth to consider some advantage Rift have over Explorer. Best Buy option price performance is Odyssey and Odyssey+, Best displays definitely same as Vive PRO but for way better price. Today 350$ and 500$. Just to say on Samsung store 18th will be black fridaysale 40% off so Odyssey+ will be 300$ on sale. It is not advartismentbut who can argue about good oportunity like this?
-
Yes, true. There is no doubt Pimax5K+ will be best VR HMD but it is not worth that money they ask for it. Simply right now Odyssey is still better to buy option and I expect soon next gen even from Valve/HTC and Samsung as well. StarVR and XTAL are still PRO version but they announced possible consumer version so in 2019 could be a lot of new next gen VR on market for better ratio performance/price then it is now offered from Pimax. For the same reason, I was criticizing Rift when it was 700$ without controllers and with just one tracking cam. After they lover the price on more realistic 400$ with controllers and additional cam for room scaling it is even today more than competitive to some newer VR HMD models. Same goes with Vive PRO. All these devices are more or less good they just need to have a proper and realistic balance between price, performances and realistic production cost. I didn't change my mind, Pimax changes pricing policy. Simply they can't base HMD on cheaper LCD and price it higher than Samsung or Vive PRO based on AMOLED displays even with higher FOV it is still cheeped low end LCD what is not necessarily a bad thing but start to be bad when you ask too much for it.

It is just one more reason not to preorder Pimax5K who is obvious to expensive for what it actually offers.

This proves what I'm predicting. It is already making to prolong life on the market until they will have an answer to this new wide FOV VR HMD's. You just need to be patient and not to rush and preorder first thing on the market.

Backers are a different story. Backers made a good deal no matter which they will get in the end. I'm repeating, Pimax5K is a great product but not worth that money. To get the better perspective and more realistic comparison you should compare Pimax5K_BE with Vive PRO and Samsung Odyssay+ not the Pimax5K+ because Vive PRO and Samsung got AMOLED displays and only 5K_BE got OLED. It is not still AMOLED but it is more close to comparing then way cheaper LCD panels like on 5K+ and 8K. That is why I'm warning you guys it is lot's of enigmas with this products and it is not the time to prepurchase especially under such high price.
-
It is normal. They are conquering the new market with other products. CV1 is definitely outdated not just because of the Pimax but from WMR's especially Samsung. Simply Rift2 or call it Half Dome is not the product who can compete with Pimax, StarVR, and XTAL. Maybe only with Samsung and HTC Vive PRO. They all need a new product, real Gen2 VR as this 3 are. But it is not that big step technologically, they just need to make a new frame, adopt software and create custom lens especially for such product and they have already better and bigger recources, technology and knowledge than the new competition. I'm expecting before the end of Q2 2019 announcement of another Grn2 VR from some of those 3 established VR company. At least from one if not all 3.

Problem is the Pimax is a small fresh company with a high potential product but draw a risky move which could jeopardize everything including those who buy this product and stay in the end without proper support and even future like it was in the past with 4K or with OSVR. They are just dead meat even you can still buy a new one. But in essence, it is failed project's. I already explain why I will not buy Pimax before some stuff will be clear and not before they publish a real specification of the product. And simply with such product under this price they leave opened huge space for competitors so I'm expecting in 2019 more similar products with better specs and maybe not lower price but certainly better performance per $ ratio in price or Pimax will be forced to put it in realistic boundaries. Something which will worth to pay. Pimax prices should be at least 200$ lower to be acceptable to all, not just those who will pay anything to get it first. Those who are willing to pay this now will have only benefit to use it earlier but the question is whit what hardware especially if we look from DCS usage perspective. I'm waiting for picture clarity true lens comparison but under native resolution 1:1 without supersampling at all to really see which one have better hardware/software optimization. That what Sweviver show us was under 2.0 SS in Pitool and than again true SteamVR on 300%. Those screenshots were on double SS and with such set up I doubt you can play at all or will be look like photo gallery only with maybe maximum of 40 frames but per minute not second.

Just check this video and start from the beginning you are interested in the whole video. Also to mention StarVR is better according to Pimax testers and StarVR have 201FOV horizontal and it is 4000$ now as a professional IMAX version but they are planning consumer version which will be closer to Pimax pricing so Pimax competitors are just around the corner and already have some technological advantage. So think twice before purchasing Pimax because your good old Rift or Vive or even cheep WMR is a better option to help you waiting for a better option. The high price is not a problem if its worth it.
