  1. That's actually great news. That means all other VR controlerswill work as well like WMR or Vive. Will be good if someone with VRfree gloves can confirm are they work or not.
  2. Yes less talk and get to work. Youtube is waiting for you guys. You too, you are not exeption. Get to work, on the double! Let's go, let's go. :pilotfly:
  3. No doubt as a backer you made a great deal with supporting Pimax. It is great HMD don't get me wrong but for the market it is overpriced. Sorry 700$ just for HMD without ASW (Brain warp) support, without proper tracking, without controllers, without proper headmount or audio support. Sorry, I can't support such policy and I will be a hypocrite if I was complaining to the same to Oculus and now supporting it with Pimax. Simply I can't. XTAL is further stepped forward and I'm willing even pay it more if it worth it. In the end, XTAL consumer version will cost same as Pimax but will offer a much better experience. I'm looking forward to finally got some proper evaluation for DCS users.
  4. Now you guys maybe understand what I was announcing when I was disappointed with Pimax5K+ in the end. There is not a problem even in the high price of the product if it's really worth it. I have a great expectation with this one. I know the VRginiers developing this headset way longer than Pimax with 8/5K. I'm expecting this could be released on market even in Q3 2019. I also now expecting more good news with StarVR. As I predict before StarVR is coming to the consumer market as well so Pimax made a huge mistake with overpricing they product and push it to early to the market without fixing major problems which StarVR and XTAL already have solved even before reaching a real market. So there is no time to spend the fortune for Pimax. SO+ is great and even Lenovo Explorer is great value for money to enter into VR world until this next-gen VR HMD coming out.
  5. Yes, that's it. They are in full price 399$ complete with 6DoF and two gloves. Right now is 320$ with 19% off. As you can see in this demo they have positional tracking too so it is full 6DoF for realistic interaction in the cockpit. If they work as Touch controller they could be used already.
  6. Is this those one who are half of the Captoglove price (250$) and have positional tracking?
  7. Pimax will be huge disappointments well. Picture clarity is not superior to Samsung O+ for example. The only real benefit is FOV which come with a huge price in performances. So in this stage for DCS usage Pimax is the questionable solution. Bad software and no ASW yet and there is no clue or announcement when will be ready. There is no even some beta or similar in developing stuff and there is a huge question is the Pimax devs even capable to do what they promise. I will wait with Pimax to be properly tested and still staying huge question is Pimax in final stage worth that huge 1200$. Order Samsung O+ and try it for 14 days. If you are satisfied keep it if not return it. Pimax has similar picture quality with SO+ or VivePRO.
  8. Bun, there are examples on Youtube where people successfully flying VR on GTX1060. Of course, you need to sacrifice some of the details in setup.
  9. It is a .completly different approach from the 4K large screen. In 4K you are going into the clarity of the picture but VR is opposite. Completely different experience immersive as hell. You are seating inside your plane, have a real 3D sense for all around you but you have to pay this price in clarity.
  10. I don't know. I was not having such problems. I'm not native English but after I "Teach" SR to my accent didn't have any problems with it.
  11. This is normal. Basically when you press a key for giving your wingman some order like engage your pilot say it a true game. There is a mod which turning off your order true game AI pilot voice so you don't hear your own voice "echo". All is in description link I send before.
  12. :pilotfly:
  13. Rendering as I say is a different story and PPD don't have anything with rendering as performances. The resolution has and resolution for both eyes, not just one. Even if it looks the same but because that slight change for the stereoscopic view you have basically two separate picture for rendering. That is why VR need twice as many performances than picture true monitor. If you just rendering one picture and duplicate it this will be the same picture and without 3D same, as it is on the monitor.
  14. Check the links. I edit my answer.
  15. It is because of 3D. Periferalvision you can see only with one eye so you can't calculate full FOV (what you can see with both eyes) for just one eye. Make some experiments better understand. Look forward and close your hands in front of you and then start to spread until you lost it in your peripheral vision. So that is your real FOV. Now close your left eye and move your left hand to the center until you start to see it again in your peripheral vision. You will see how less it is and you lose completely your left peripheral. Same is with the opposing side. At 110FOV you don't see peripheral at all so this 10° is because of differences in eyes and 3D picture, basically for your pupilar distance. I hope you understand now. https://biology.stackexchange.com/questions/67197/what-is-the-field-of-view-of-humans-not-just-fixed-angle-eyes https://biology.stackexchange.com/questions/28138/what-is-the-field-of-view-for-the-human-eyes
  16. Net exactly. That why I insist on that "per eye" part because a large part of FOV is the same. So Rift, Vive or any other 110FOV per eye have per eye around 100FOV per eye so in this case formula is Rift/Vive - 1080 / 100 = 10.8 PPD around 10 ( that was my previous mistake made when I say 12) Vive PRO/WMR - 1440 / 100 = 14.4 PPD around 14 Pimax 5K/8K - 2560 / 135 = 18.9 around 18 Why just 135FOV per eye? this 100 is common to all as the central FOV. Pimax is different have this 170FOV. 100 stay common but 70 is a peripheral vision which is going 35 on right and 35 on left side/eye whatever. That is more correct. When you calculating resolution for both eye this only affecting when you are calculating the number of pixels to render and that could give you some picture about performances and it is not related with PPD but estimation of FPS.
  17. True. One of the main reasons for that, and people actually don't think about it at all, is the lens magnification factor. Because of relations of the FOV and display size, Pimax lens magnification is smaller than on Vive, Rift or some WMR. I will put it in numbers to be more precise, even those numbers will not be exact values but relations and ratio will be to get the picture what I'm talking about. If Rift, Vive and some WMR have a lens which magnifies 3 times and Pimax lens is magnified 2.5 times. This means higher magnification is larger SDE and that what Jabbers describing the difference in SDE and we make some calculation lead us 16 to 17% smaller SDE. Also about clarity one of the major factors is PPD or Pixel Per Degree. For that, we just need a different formula for calculation. Horizontal resolution per eye / horizontal FOV per eye. this calculation gives us for Rift Vive approximate 12PPD, for Vive PRO or WMR approximate 14PPD and for Pimax 5K or 8K approximate 18PPD. Another major factor for clarity is display reproduction. 5K+ and Lenovo Explorer got LCD display which supports full RGB 4:4:4 colors in other casePimax8K or Vive PRO don't. That is why 5K+ and 8K even with the same PPD don't have the same level of clarity. Or for example, 5K+ and Explorer both have full RGB 4:4:4 support but Explorer have lower PPD and higher magnification and thesis why have more pronounced SDE and less clarity. I believe Jabbers and others who have experience with all of this VR HMD could agree with how my calculations explain and confirming this differences. So you can get a picture of what to expect.
  18. Vulcan is better utilizing hardware so by default should be better utilization of multicore on CPU and that better er implementation for SLI/CF especially that VR posibilitiesGPU per eye. DX11 can't do that at all so it is pointless to spend all these resources on tweaking VR under DX11 when the transition to Vulcan is imminent.
  19. Soon AMD is releasing NAVI 10 7nm GPU in performance range of Nvidia 2070/1080. Point is the price. Such graphics card coming out for 250$. So if you are struggling with a budget just be patient this will be the best buy option definitely.
  20. I know they work but DCS is demanding anyway and I don't expect such miracles true existing engine polish. Especially Vulcan is around the corner. ED have to think about expanding market base. Lowend users practically can't play at all, midrange is on the edge and have to compromise and VR with the midrange you can forget. Only highend users can properly enjoy in DCS especially in VR. I know someone could a little bit selfishly say who cares I have my 2080ti but you have to look at that problem from a business perspective. More segment of the market you grab is more profit and more stability for the company, in this case, ED and more resources for further development from what we will be all have benefited. The larger player base is more and populated servers and war theatre to fly. So it is in all of our interest to support and push ED to go in that direction of progress. And as I say if you look from bigginer perspective I doubthmost of new and younger players can afford at all. So that way we are practcally limited in progres and further developmant by player base who are again limited by hardware. This is finaly opening posibility to ED and DCS to enter in mid and low range segment and that is also in favor of the other hardware companies like Logitec, Thrustmaster or else. This market expanding will benefit all of us in all segments.
  21. Will be interesting to see DCS after switching to Vulcan. Then we could start to talk about VR performances. Not talking right now on controller implementation just about performances. Why I'm talking about this. Vulcan should have VR SLI/CF support and that means single GPU per eye. This could fix all of our problems with performances in VR even for Pimax8KX in the future. AMD NAVI 10 7nm Graphic card will be released soon. I know it could not match RTX 2080 or 2080Ti but will be equivalent performances with 2070/1080. I know it is not much but the price will be 250$ so imagine two of this in CF for 500$. So this will be minimal 30% gain in performances over single 2080ti for half price. Practically for the same price you got 30% better performances and Samsung O+ for free. I think ED should focus on that part for performances because this will increase players base and good performance will not be only for those who can afford it. This will even benefit for those who can afford that luxury with 2x 2080 or even 2080ti for an even higher increase of the performances. Right now any SLI/CF is pointless and a waste of time and money.
  22. As someone who uses VR mostly because immersion you should considering using Voiceattack. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=143331 This gives you a new level of immersion because you are literally verbally communicating with your AI in Tower or Wingmans. You just need to map one button on your HOTAS for Radio comunication rest you are doing verbally. One advice if you decide to use Voiceattackand VIACOM for DCS in MP together with Teamspeak. You have to set up the same button as a whisper to your self on TS. That way when you are speaking to AI over the radio will mute mic to another participant on your TS channel. I don't know about whispering possibilities on Discord but if there is one should work as well.
  23. @=Buckeye= did you try to turn off MSAA?
  24. For all of you with a limited budget as entry level for flight and drive sims this is good for the start. Lenovo Explorer without controllers but fully functional 6DoF inside out tracking for just 120$. For your information it is 1440x1440 110FOV full RGB 4:4:4 LCD displays. It is not OLED but has good clarity because of full RGB 4:4:4. Matrix is the same as Pimax5K+ only different size of the displays. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=details&O=&Q=&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIg-eXxMXw3gIVQZsYCh1GvgfaEAEYASABEgLWoPD_BwE&is=REG&sku=1364658 So there is no excuse for those who want to try VR but not doing nothing. This Lenovo worth more than it is cost and if you like you could switch to something better.
