  1. Who's ready to fly, server is almost empty come on get in  good times today thx all that were on TS :)
  2. There is no such thing as "overkill" when it comes to PC parts :D That PSU isn't even that crazy, you don't want your PSU to be running @ max capacity all the time so 800 watts, yeah it's plenty for that system but i wouldn't call it "overkill" . Never heard of the brand though, but after some googling it appears to be a quality brand . Woud you have chosen a 600 watt PSU, what would be the difference in price ? I'm sure it would be very little, so it would not be wise to cheap out on the PSU . As for memory, memory is DIRT CHEAP at the moment, so as long as your motherboard can handle it, why not go for 16 gigs. I personally use 8 GB, but again, you don't have to skimp out on memory for the price so why not 16 GB The drives though, do you really need that much storage ? :D (never mind, i see that the 120 GB SSD came with the mobo, right on! ) One thing though, that monitor .... 20" and 1680x1050 ? meh i would seriously consider making that your first upcoming upgrade. Oh and why not go nvidia ? I recently found out that you can NOT use crossfire with DCS , SLI on the other hand works fantastic.
  3. Some planes have received new flight models. "AFM" which i think means : Advanced Flight Model There are many threads about it, check this one out for instance : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=124066
  4. What do they need rest for anyway Take off - Autopilot for the next 10 hours - Land. Even the landing is 99% autopilot, as they only steer the plane for the last 10 seconds of the landing. pffft What you meant i think is the fuel thing. There was some debate about the pilots not being "allowed" , wait, that's not right .. "pressured into" taking only the minimum requirement of fuel by law.
  5. For "true" surround sound, you need more than 2 speakers . There are headphones that have 3 speakers for each ear. They are "true" surround, altough an actual surround speaker setup ((meaning, actually having speakers BEHIND you) is way better because the sound quality of those actual surround headphones is usually quite poor. Yes you can get a vague hint of "surround" with stereo speakers/headphones, but it's not as nice as an actual setup. For fps shooters i personally find actual surround quite important. (for better owning of newbs) , but for every other game genre , stereo with a nice subwoofer is just fine. Now to find out what this thread is about ... -_-
  6. No, but when you press SHIFT + K , it will stay visible and you can toggle it on and off with that key combo
  7. Why so obsessed with "dogfighting" ? Wouldn't it be a lot more efficient to learn BVR first ?
  8. Just press control + k , to see where you are ?
  9. Think space debris. Anyway, you shouldn't get hit by sabot rounds when in a helicopter , then you're doing something wrong :d This is not BF3 -_-
  10. That is not entirely true. To think that a sabot round would not completely vaporize a helicopter is a bit naive. I mean you don't actually think that it will just leave a nice clean hole , right ? If the speed of the round is high enough (and it is lol), every little part that breaks off the helicopter will become a "round" on it's own, eacht shard will shatter more material, and all those shards will create more shards and so on. Basically the inners of the helicopter start acting as if they were a liquid. (i saw this on discovery channel ! ) If the speed is high enough, you can take down a jumbo jet with a bb pellet.
  11. Where is this myth coming from that DCS "will only use 1 gpu" ? OX0CQNYnqxo If it is for ATI cards, then you should blame the poor driver support of ATI, works like a charm for Nvidia . Also, sorry for bad video quality, settings in game are maxed out (8x AA though) , but i had to record with my phone otherwise the sli indicator is not shown.
  12. I am guessing, that the developers feel that the price of each aircraft is in relation to the amount of work they must do for it. I think there are two sides to this . A triple A title (you know, the big titles, CoD, Battlefield, just the big games that , i am sure takes a LOT more resources to make . Literally HUNDREDS of people work on those titles for YEARS . They cost about the same to BUY as a plane in DCS. These are multiplayer games, so in terms of replay value , they are simply GREAT buys . (hundreds or even 1000's of hours of fun, for 50 dollars ! There is no other activity in the world that is that cheap ! ) On the other hand, you have the triple A single player games. They probably cost about the same , maybe a little less than the multiplayer games to MAKE, so you'd think the same price would be fair as well. The problem is though, that in terms of replay value, you get very little. Most big singleplayer "A" titles games cost 50 euro's, but you get only 8 to 20 hours of fun with them. I guess DCS world falls somewhere in between. Costs a lot LESS to make, however, the replay value is also very high. If you ask me, the last one is the most important. I mean hundreds of hours of playtime for 50 dollars, no matter how you spin it, that's simply cheap as dirt
  13. And you're not itching to update that slow graphics card as well ?? :music_whistling: Just saying, 60 fps at low settings, or 60 fps at high settings :smilewink:
  14. uhm ... crap
  15. Doesn't matter if i do it at 1x speed, or 10x speed . Some inputs are just getting logged wrong i think
  16. Still having problems with replay function Most of my replays go sour really soon. It starts with the taxi-ing, according to most replays i end up in the grass before i even take off. What could cause this ?
  17. I'm no expert, (shocker) , but if you don't want to lose targets on your radar, you should always, when you first see them, switch to TWS and remember at what altitude they are flying. (it's shown on the aircraft icon as a number : 14 means 14.000 feet) If you haven't locked him, just keep his altitude line in the middle of your highest and lowest scan altitude . (you know, on the far left side of your radar screen) If he's starts going sideways from you , he's gonna disappear from your radar ("ze notch" as they call it) , but he must also be lower than you to disappear from the radar. So, if he starts to go sideways, remember the distance he's at (say 30 miles) go to STT wide search, put your upper limit at his altitude last known , (so lower search beam a little), and don't start to adjust your radar histerically but simply wait untill he re-appears. (this should happen when he points his nose back at you) If you still haven't found him by the way you should be about 20 miles from here, it's time to start worrying :D Then i usually just do the histerical scan thing i said you should NOT do, and if i can't find him again, run away. Oh p.s : Also on the far left side of the radar screen is your scan blocks (that name is wrong but , it's a little arrow that goes past 4 line-thingies. It looks like : < When it passes all 4 settings, one sweep has completed. I'm sure my advice is terrible, so don't take it untill it is scrutinezed by everybody -_- And here's a video , i think it's one of the best tutorial, it has 2 parts i think about the F15 radar fI-jVYH4sNc
  18. KA-50 is insane when it comes to taking beatings. 2 amraams , still flying. Then i unloaded cannon and only then he went down bastards
  19. omg always those damned "options" I go now , sorry for this thread :music_whistling: (thx !)
  20. I always have to turn up teamspeak WAY up and i still can barely hear people over the wind noises in the cockpit. How do i deal with this ?
  21. I'll take it down instantly if you want though , people might get the wrong idea . edit* I'll take it down, (set to private) the picture in this thread is funny enough . :)
  22. Actually yes, one of those two did go THROUGH the plane. I had it lucky paused in such a manner that the rocket was sticking through the fusilage :D Then i un paused to see the rest, and found out it's quite hard to pause it at the exact same time again
  23. Sometimes the best tactic is .. blind luck :D Sorry man, just came across this :megalol: YGu5AHHYZVs
  24. Maybe he means, that never stepping out of your comfort zone, (camping) might not be very productive in terms of learning new stuff ?
