They're well done indeed, all credits goes to ED :)
-
That is not contradictory, I was merely stating that in case one is exclusive of the other that scale is then more important to me than LOD. In any case I trust in ED to provide us with a quality experience as per usual, in due time. But just because something is WIP doesn't mean we can't discuss it nor form and communicate opinions, like you just did. ;)
-
Indeed, we're just discussing, not judging, most certainly not condemning ^^.

Personally I'm not expecting a huge LOD in the like of Arma, I just want enough to be immersed visually and offer some practical applications for gameplay. But I certainly had to revise and lower my expectation when I saw the EDGE videos. Towns, bases and assets looks great, lights feels nice and it all opens for great immersive FX. The mountains and geography map seems to be drawn in a very rough & blurry way though, that offers no sharpness nor terrain detail. That plus the one type of cloud we've seen so far (although they do look great on their own! but there's plenty more cloud variety that could come into the picture) make for average graphics in my humble opinions that failed to impress me. I already posted that opinion a few months back but only got myself a permanent 30% warning and a deleted comment as a result. I'll risk it once more hoping that mods understand it's just a healthy and honest opinion on videos that are only WIP anyway. Look at the NTTR map in DCS World 2, pre alpha video from Wags for example at around 5 minutes: That's not a terrain or clouds that particularly shine in comparison to other (moded) sims that are a decade old. But it is only WIP, I hope they can keep on working on it and level up the terrain detail and cloud layers, what a blast that would be, not to mention the possibilities for Combat Arms. :) That said, if it's a matter of HDD space, they shouldn't be afraid to go for big numbers, most big games are past the 50 Gb nowedays and future games are past the 100 in some cases. Also, I'd prefer a much bigger map with less detail, that a much tinier one with a better LOD, eye candy is always incredibly immersive and pleasing, but at the end of the day we're only here for the gameplay and authentic experience ED gives us.

Button Box in the making Derek Spears Design
Vivoune replied to Dusty Rhodes's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
These are quality button box indeed, I bought one early this Year (didn't know these FTL-1 were coming!) I'm happy with it. If I could suggest something, it'd be great to have dual concentric rotary encoder with integrated momentary push button. The shear number of rotary dials one needs to setup even one radio correctly is scary, most aircraft, civilian and military have to manage 3+ radios at the same time each with a dedicated rotary for MHz & KHz and sometimes even 100 of MHz. It would also be great for the handling of the most used GPS & for exemple AP (low rotary for ALT setting and upper rotary for Vertical Speed). For those into Civ simming you also need to a few more of these for every nav radios you manage that's usually 3 or 4+. There's no shortage of use for such rotary encoders. I think a button box with 3 in 1 double rotary buttons much like the rotary buttons found on civilian flight GPS would be a best seller without a doubt if it can be made at the same reasonable price tags. In fact if I can't find any in the coming months I'll probably build my own as com management is one of the biggest hassle in most sims. -
Just send them a pm I'm sure they'll help you out :) Considering AvioDev is focusing on the starfighter now I'd support Razbam which is actively working on the Mirage 2000 from now on.
-
Go ahead and support them now then, donate to AvioDev or Razbam $150 and it might speed up the developement. Then buy the module for $49 like the rest of us. ^^
-
I'll pass! ^^'

Modern jets surely are harder to develop and get data on, we all get that. I guess people are just trying to say the community is eager to get their hands on such modern fighter modules and that whomever releases such a quality module first most likely will be met with great success in popularity, reputation and net revenues if it's done well. For example I'm sure ED will find out soon that their F-16 will be bought full price by a majority and will be worth every penny they invested in it these past few years. It is coming, it's only a matter of who is going to be now. We can't blame you for going for older specialized aircraft, personally I quite like the WWII era, I quite like the modern era, what's in between doesn't really interests me and I'll just ignore it tomorrow like I'm ignoring today the Mig-15Bis & F-28F Sabre. But I'm just one player and by no means reflect the community. ^^

Not interrested one bit in that starfighter, I'll pass my turn thanks. ^^'

AFAIK You have to turn the generator switch to on on the electric panel once your engines are running (just right of the union barras switch). So the engine can generate power to your systems.
-
I bought CA some time ago for its potential and to support ED. I'm still waiting for that module to blossom, a little bird told me it's gonna be for 2015/16 :)
-
Yes, you can also buy it standalone for $10.
-
Thanks guys, I'll check it out and get familiar with the flight director. I did a few instrument landings in pitch black night already so even without that it's still very playable. :)
-
Yes I just can't get the ADI feedback, my mistake was to expect the ADI yellow bars like in other aircrafts to work on the get go. I'll have to find a manual somewhere to teach myself about that flight director panel then. thx!
-
I'm still having issues, It's working fine on other A/C I just tried it on the A10-C on kutaisi 109.75. But I can't seem to get the yellow bars on the ADI to do with ILS landing. I'm probably missing a step or a switch somewhere ^^. -I'm just turning on the ILS radio -Input the ILS frequency -make the HSI source VOR -Align on the corresponding Runway (in this case 08 for Kutaisi) I get the info on the HSI but no glide slope indicator on the ADI. Is there an uncage switch for the ADI yellow bars somehwere?
-
Hmm I tried several but I think Kutaisi 109.75 and Batumi 110.30 was amongst them.
-
Yes I know how to use VOR thank you ^^. I can get VOR directions using the VOR frequencies found on the web, I can't get ILS to work is what I'm saying, I must be missing something in order for the ADI so give me ILS slope directions using the ILS frequency of a given Airport for the right Runway. My Nav radio is on and tuned to ILS freq, the HSI source selector is on VOR yet I don't get anything.
-
Is ILS & VOR working? I cant seem to get any ILS slope so far, TACAN works good though. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I've tried about 4 or 5 airports and I can't get any to work. For exemple to get to Batumi I set the Nav radio freq to 110.30 MHz (Batumi ILS) and front dash board Nav button (HSI source selector) to VOR but I get nothing, no radio direction from afar, no ILS from up close, Nav red ribbon still on the left of HSI. I can't seem to get it working. TACAN works fine though, I enter 16X on T/R mode (Batumi TACAN) and hit TAC instead of VOR on HSI source selector, I now get a radio direction on the Radio Magnetic Indicator (RMI) DME feedback and course deviation on the HSI as per normal.
-
Alright thanks! GPU start only then :)
-
So basically you can do it, the instruments won't work after that though? I tried and the engines started just fine without the GPU :D
-
Indeed. Nice video Bunyap too, looking forward to checking your nav oriented sessions ;)
